  • hey mojo i need you to show me the simple lead to REO Speedwagons song " Time For Me To Fly. if you would... it's driving me crazy

  • no plektrum, knopfler would be proud! =)

  • i love your instructions, you make it simple and easy to follow

  • Please Teach MK's "Are we in Trouble"

  • Try barring your chords ....sounds better this way.

  • thanks for giving us theese great lessons.. I like how you explain that masterpiece I love...

Knopfler always finger picks in this song, and I tell you that you have a good techinque ;)

  • Woah i really like that tele!

  • Great help

  • lol. that troll mate (TKwikasfaki) must be from the uk! lol.

  • Please please whats the strumming pattern of the base?

thank you, really helpful video (:

  • I think your awesome mate, all these people who say u can not play are just guitar hero wannabes lol most of them are still learning yakety axe and still going in guitar shops and playing smoke on the water on the practice amp lol kids eh

  • Since I just restarted on guitar after 35 years, I cedrtanily can't act as an experienced electric gutar player. But I find this guys instruction the best of most I've seen. And while I don't have the most expensive Strato . I do have a 2010 Tele. HH (Mex) and it sounds great. Bet Sultans of Swing will work well with this instrutment. Finger picking!

  • hey bud just noticed you thumb and finger pick,,I play alot more accurate that way, just wish I could do like knopfler and incorporate the middle finger as welland keep my palm rested,I like your vidioes havent seen them in a while, your awesome, stole one of your licks worked on the one you couldnt play,,its tricky but think I got it,,and its a useful move,,thanks,,I got a lotus electric,,and WOW it plays real well,,great neck,,if you check out my videos I,m doing a Mark knopfler tune shaga li

  • Thank you so much for your time...im sure you could be out there making money, giving lessons, instead of giving free lessons here to us lazy bums, who refuse to learn a song the old fashioned way......thanks again so much for guys like you here on thetube......stay well:)

  • cristo se sapevo fare queste cose non c'era bisogno che me la spiegavi tu xD cmq ottima lezione!

  • @LeatherCladVegan:

Yeah, I use a rake in Mary's Lamb by Stevie Ray Vaughan. I'm trying to get that hammer on solo at the end of Sultans of Swing....? I'm sure you all know it.

  • excellent

  • Awesome video, helped me a lot but...

what are the chords from 1:50 till you stop playing and say "had to sing in there?"

    thanks..

  • Hey there you have some pretty good lessons here. I was trying to figure out how you did that Bb chord.. i did it differently

  • Fantastic help, thanks so much

  • Brother,

This is really cool, and I certainly appreciate the help.

Your instructional 'style' is really nice too. Kinda funny, Ya know.

I play keys, but I've fooled around on guitar for many years, and only recently began taking it more seriously.

Keep jammin', Man... and thank You!

  • Yeah, I call that 'dragging motion' a 'rake', and it can be done with a pick just fine... which just means the mute is solely in the left hand - I think you're doing it the hard way, but it's all good ;)

  • you look like David Cross! :O

  • great work - much appreciated

  • Thank you so much for taking time to give us these great lessons. Sometimes I become frustrated and almost give up but your lessons always bring me back and give me confidence. You are a very good instructor. When I see a hatefull comment like the one from "TheKwikasfaki" it realy pisses me off. Thank you for your time and please keep up the great lessons. Thank You

  • Mojo,

Love your lessons and wit. Among the best on the Tube. Thanks.

  • whats ur facebook account (:

  • @MrRedbullkid search for three chord guitar, you'll find me :)

  • I'v never seen covered single coiled pick ups, Cool.

  • That is amazing your a realy good player

  • Hey TheKwikasfaki, I just checked out your channel and what a surprise , not one video posted of YOU playing ANYTHING. This guy is a good teacher he is teaching the basic chord structure .

  • Great stuff Mojo. Excellent, you make it seem so easy. That was brill.

  • LMAO @ "guiter" and "spose" and "your" for you're! Pitiful! I hope that dude isn't American. Or Australian. Can forgive all that if he's from a foreign country. But still...hey...I play just about everything on an LP with two humbuckers. I must have missed that class that taught you can't play certain tunes on anything but a particular guitar. Not to mention, if I want to fingerpick I do. If I want to use a pick, I do. What are you TheKwikasfaki, the guitar "police?" OYE

  • look at his upper lip at 3.23

    :)

  • Thanks for all your stuff man...its great

  • Great vid, Great song really nice!

  • I recently was given peavey electric ,and honestly i considered giving it back cause i just couldn't get any songs right chords didn't make sense when i watched videos and read how to do it just didn't kick it for me. Then i came across one of your videos and i can already play 3 songs (there are a few others im working on) But my point is it is all thanks to you!

i love your videos and i hope to see many more!!

    rock on!

  • 2:18 "sorry that i sing, If it rains tomorrow blame it on me" LMAO Great Less Dude.

  • A beautiful tele with Laces Sensors. Saweeet. Thanks for the demo.

  • Great! One of the best instructional videos I've found here. Thanks!

  • That's the best lesson of Sultans of swing on internet!

  • Love your style, even makes me sound good, as for Kwikasfaki , instead of complaining he should stick his gutier where the son donte shine

  • That is a beautiful guitar!

  • Nice job! I love playing this song I've been playing for about 18 years I model after Mark Knopfler in his style of playing/picking.

  • Great thx !

  • You make it look easy!- Cracking video - comments appreciated on my live

  • Thanks! Some days I "Tube Hop" listening to various players/teachers making note of those worth visiting again. Your one of those at the top of my list. I hate the strict perfectionist only one way to play guitar nazi's. Thanks again.

  • Mojo baby , yeah :D

  • nice lesson mate, helped me a lot thanks...you rockk

  • @TheKwikasfaki ...dont fingerpick..i allways was thinking knopfler is really famous for his fingerpicking...second: it says threechordguitar and not stevevai or ericclapton channel...great lesson, i got it know

  • what is the strum pattern?

  • some people suffer from: Dristol Uranium Masticular Bi Acetone Systonic Shit if they dont think this is awesome

  • nice video.. helped alot thanks

  • I love that guitar. James is the man!

  • to make the scraping noise i hold my pick with my thumb and index and use my ring finger and pinky to run them across the strings.

  • You can mute with the bottom of the palm of your pick hand. Just lightly hold the Palm of your hand against the strings while you are picking.

  • Great video thanks! I'm french and I didn't know we could call the middle finger Johnny Cash finger so thanks for the info

  • amazing guitars

  • *REQUEST!*

can you please make another video of the sultans of swing because i would like to learn the whole song. thank you :-D

  • Nice!

Mabye you can give ''Dire Straits - Money for nothing'' guitar lesson, I like that solo!

  • To the bat caaaaaaaave XD !!!

Great vid!! Loved it :D !!!

  • Herdim blue picks can achieve something like this sound if you can't finger pick; by using the rough dimpled edge to scrape.

Obviously not as good as playing it how Mark Knopfler would play it though.

  • very helpfull, thanks!!

  • ive watched most of your videos you are by far the best guitar teacher online grats man keep up the good work!

  • Hey man thanks for this! I leaned it in like 10 minutes.

  • u blow

  • gay

  • Ohhh do you wanna date?? Bøsserøv!

  • if you have difficulty picking the sweeps, try using a jazz pick. the small pointy types. it should extend just barely past your index finger...... the guitar you play on doesn't matter so much, you can still get the tones. my ibanez prestige gets great stat tones, and heavy meatal tones too..

  • dear me, whos the fool who is trying to tell you how to play Dire Straits, kwikasfaki, Knopfler is the most famous FINGERstyle guitarist, it just doesn't sound right with a plectrum

  • yeah, the tone of the guitar completely changes when you use fingers vs picks. its a warmer sound with fingers. Not that one is "better" or whatever.. just different. BUT the song can be played with a pick and you could maybe roll back on the tone to compensate for the brighter sound you get from a pick. Not the same sure.. but it'd fool a bar full of drunks... who cares, right? Just play and have fun :)

  • mate you can play. but you cant play this with your guiter even if you pretend. play it the gutier right how its spose to be so we can see how good you are dont f inger pick try again and post it when your better

  • 1. learn to spell

    2. Knopfler finger picks it

    3. social graces - get some :)

  • ...genius! Well said ;)

  • @ThreeChordGuitar hahahaha.. what a douchebag.. great lesson dude, your awesome (:

  • @ThreeChordGuitar that guy has no idea what he's talkin about. haha

  • @ThreeChordGuitar sounds great to me!

  • @TheKwikasfaki rofl. You talk like fingerpicking is easier. It's not, unless you're a classical guitarist.

  • You're comparing advanced fingerpicking to simple plectrum playing.

Sweep or hybrid picking is just as hard, if not harder than fingerpicking.

They are relatively similar in terms of difficulty and both are necessary to play guitar effectively.

  • @TheKwikasfaki haha you got fuckin owned ha lol nice lesson by the way

  • @TheKwikasfaki lol is that a joke dude, mark knopfler is extremely famous for his fingerstyle. the tone might not be exactly the same, but its pretty damn good. educate yourself a little before making comments and you might not come out sounding like a jackass. beautiful tele btw, first one ive seen with the triple single coil, not that i really check out teles all that much

  • @TheKwikasfaki

    Whats a gutier ?

  • @TheKwikasfaki let's see your video if yours is better. This dude is awesome, and knows how to spell, mate.

  • oh...on I gave you a 2-star by mistake...I'm sorry I meant 5-star

    very useful lesson

  • I had a hard time with this then I realized I was tuned down to Eb

  • thank you

  • nice guitar

  • thaaaanks maan realllllyy goood jooob peace on you xD

  • Isn't the muting/dragging kinnda thing he's talking about called rake? oO

David G. from Pink Floyd does it a lot too.. It has a nice effect :b

  • Gilmour? not realy he , Gilmour is using the alternating picking and normaln playing with not mauch other then pull-offs hammer on and pentatonic scales.Knopfler is using that muting method , but the name for it is chicken picking

  • dame la explacacion simple :) ?

  • Apreta con los dedos donde el tipo del video te dice =)

  • marc does it ooh so different xD but.. well its good this way 2

  • Love it! learning more in a month than I have in a year. Keep it going ,

  • good job M8 tnx !!!

  • This ain't Three Chords :P

  • I think there are those who prefer the Tele over the Strat and others who prefer the Strat over the Tele. It's a matter of personal preference. The two Guitars are as different as night and day.

  • @zymoon night and day is too much.. maybe night and afternoon ;D

  • I think there are those who prefer the Tele over the Strat and others who prefer the Strat over the Tele. It's a matter of personal preference. The two Guitars are as different as night and day.

  • "johnny cash finger" I love it. Great video man.

  • wats the difference between a tele and a stratocaster

  • aside from asthetic differences, a tele usually has 2 single coils in the bridge and neck position, a matser volume and 1 tone pot with a 3 way selector, a stratocaster has 3 single coils bridge middle and neck, master volume tone for middle and tone for neck pickup, you can get these guitars now in any pickup combination you want really, but thats the main differences between the original fender telecasters and stratocasters

  • Hi Mojo

Thanks for this lesson, first time I've actually cracked it, great stuff

  • That's awesome. Thank you very much for this tutorial!

  • Are you trying to sale your guitars?

  • I have no idea what you are referring to.

  • I just couldnt place you accent. thank you for the wonderful lessons-

  • Sounds like a Quebecois accent if you ask me.

  • 8 million French speaking Canadians, give or take. 62 million French citizens. And you think Canadian, first? :)

  • where the hell are you from?

  • Hopefully not from hell :)

    I am from France.

  • johny cash finger.,ha!ha!

  • you do not teach well. easy riff, yes..but taught badly

  • just a tip, for when you do use a pick, you can use ur pinky and 4th finer to mute it as u strum down in a flat motion

  • back to the bat cave, classic

  • back to the bat cave hahaha classic

  • cool vid many thanks wots the johnny cash finger mean ?

  • Johnny Cash finger is a reference to a very famous picture of Johnny Cash. Search Google images for "Johnny Cash finger" and you will see. :P

  • mitico, thank!

  • can you do money for nothing?

  • thanks man

  • Nice guitar. How much did you pay for it and the pickups if you got them seperately.

  • thats very good, actually you have a good voice when you singed "Sultans of swiing".

    thanks for the lesson

  • hey im a new guitarist. thanks to the music like this ^^ im wondering if you could give me some lessons on learing the strings and frets and stuff that way i dont have to always rely on tabs

  • pick the g-string, love it!

  • Bb sound better on acoustic great lesson tho@!!

  • Thank you for sharing, i 've just susbscribed to your video list

  • what chord do you do at minute 1:55

    answer please

  • C............

  • C i think

  • Tabs confusing, you not confuseing

  • Mark Knopfler aways lived close to river, lake and ports. He tried to imitate the sound of ships, boats and trains with the guitar. This is one of the causes of his guitar style. ^^

  • thank you very much for the lessons, fuckin hell you like your telecasters haha

  • never liked guitarlessons on youtube til' now.. subscribe - i will! ;)

  • That's awesome thanks!

  • I find the rythym hard from the change to the C at 1:27

  • Yeah, it may not be exactly how it is played, but since NOBODY watching this video can play like Mark Knoffler, it is perfect for the rest of us.

    Thanks MoJo

  • Hey it's raining today. What's going on here? Nice Lesson. Thanks.

  • mojo is a fucking prick....

    the chords was wrong...

and the riff that you just learnt is just the intro to the song and it is completely wrong and unfinished.

mojo buy a tab book or just kill your self.

    WANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the chords are Dm, C, Bb, A. I don't remember what he said, but I'm pretty sure he's right

  • hmm...

They don't use these easy chords...

    Maybe sounds alike,

but not how it is played

  • m.k uses barré chords. bur the sound is ok

  • fuck you !!!! he uses his ear! tabs are for unexperienced players

  • and i don't think a wanker would be giving up his time to educate other guitarists for free

  • thanks. your videos rock!

  • the singing was awesome :P

  • You're the man. Keep on rockin' in the free world! God Bless.

  • i just start learn guitar since i saw your videos mate, thanks
