I agree, it gets old, but it also gets old seeing "stars" (admittedly remarkable players) unable or unwilling to execute the fundamentals I try to teach my fifth-graders. All in the interest of showmanship. I'm all for flashy passes, strong dunks, and so on, but nothing should come at the expense of game standards. A standard is only as good as the enforcement thereof.
