Could be that they don't share your sentiment. I like shows with a bit more action. However, this is just far too fascinating and captivating that I'm compelled to watch the whole thing. It's rare to find something truly unique and enjoyable. Then again, not everyone finds everything unique to be enjoyable. I suppose I'm just one of those people who likes a lot of unusual things. My tastes are in part due to my self being unusual. No surprise then if most don't like what I enjoy.

Ginko was exposed to mushi that bleached the color from his hair and eyes at a young age, whereas everyone else looks Japanese (cuz it's based in Japan), and have similar coloration because they weren't exposed like Ginko was.

They are not the same. The intonation is completely different. The kanji used in "mushishi" is an old character that the the character "mushi(insect)" originated from. This old mushi character implies "small creatures."
