Indians who migrated to the US from late 60s till early 80s had to face quite a lot of hardship.
People back in India did not knew the hard realities in US. For them, it was like greener pastures in US, only need to get there once. I do not mean that it was all work and no play but not a cakewalk to be sure.
I'm indo-guyanese. Sure, there's a big difference in cultures but I'd say we see them as brothers/sisters whatever (although we love making fun of accents!). The values have been passed down and even some little words. Plus, in Guyana, we love bollywood hahaha, just a lil stereotyping there. Dunno about the other spectrum though.
What is the relationship between the continental Indian community and the Indo-Caribbean community (people from Trinidad, Tobago and Guyana whose ancestors came from India)? Do they see them as brethren or outsiders?
Fresh off the Boat..like, jus came from india(or another country-also applies to asians) to a "new" country like US or UK or Australia. they have ways that are normal back home, but considered totally weird here lol. like, everything this boy does is fobby. or course, in exageration tho.
It is a very Indian in foreign country use to separate themselves from newly immigrant Indians so they can feel they're superior to somebody. And they use it very heavily to tell white people, that they are not Indians. But it has failed ... so far!!!
Guess what been in the uk for 5 yrs now and initially i observed the same kinda behaviour... until obviously they knew better that jus cuz i was from india din mean that i did not know the uk ways..etc...
