This is such a great song, one of my favourite ones on the album, that's also tremendous.
The Sun Won't Shine and The End are so endlessly good, thanks for posting.
And Shirley was, is and will still be one of the coolest people alive

"Goodbye Mr Mackenzie" - she was only 16 when she joined so she did backing vocals for a decade with them.

No, marla12 is right. Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie was first, then Angelfish, then Garbage. Shirley just wasn't the main vocalist for GMM. She did backing vocals and played keyboard.

But yeah. I only knew about her prior bands from a Garbage mailing list I'd been on in the late 90's. All KINDS of information was available between all the people who were part of it. :) I'd never heard of GMM or Angelfish before that, so if I were you, I wouldn't feel too bad! ;P

I love Garbage, but I think that they borrowed heavily from Angelfish's sound. Dark lyrics, loud guitar...the only difference was Garbage's loops and samples. Maybe their stuff had a little more of a dance aspect, but if you close your eyes while listening to Angelfish, you'd swear it was Garbage. Makes you wonder what could've been hadn't Vig & Marker intervened.

Angelfish broke up and Shirley was out of a job when Vig and Marker intervened. Also Vig/Marker/Erikson had already begun mixing the first album's music before they ever saw "Suffocate Me" on MTV...So the idea that they stole their sound from Angelfish is absurd.

I used to have this cd, never saw the video that got hooked up with Butch, Duke and Steve. Who could blame her for leaving the band for a decade of success.
