  • Creepy.

  • now I found out where does Televisión Nacional de Chile take ideas for commercial bumpers during 1980 - 1987 (:D) it' s all about USA TV channels

  • @radiozoto2006 Specially during 1984-1986, when TVN adopted their also short-lived "N" logo...

  • @sebaf90 en ese caso hablemos en castellano pueh (:D)

  • Comment removed

  • They had to stop using the N logo because of American Motors (AMC) gave a hassle of copyright infringment

  • @szaboservices

    No.

There was an issue of infringement, but it was Nebraska ETV that alleged infringement by NBC.

Under court settlement, NBC was allowed to use the logo under license from Nebraska Educational Television. NBC also contributed funds to for the design of a new logo for NETV.

  • The NBC "N" logo made its first TV appearance in October 1975; more or less than 2 months prior its official debut on New Year's Day, 1976.

  • II remember this logo it started in fall 1978 and was used until the beginning of the 1979 fall season. I remember it airing at the biginning of Chips that year

  • The first time I remember this logo airing was at the beginning of the episode of Chips THAT AIRED ON 11/4/78

  • I think this is from 1978, actually.

  • Yeah, I thought by 1979 they reinstated the Peacock and added it to the N.

  • they did do that but not until the start of the fall season in September of 1979

  • this version ran during the 1978-1979 season

  • Ahead of it's time, could pass for the mid-80's.

  • Could be from '79 just prior to that year's "Proud Peacock" campaign.

  • yes it was As I mentioned in anothe r post this aired for the 1978 1979 season

  • According to beanut520, I think this is from 1975.

  • The "N" made its debut on jan 1, 1976 during the Tournament of Roses Parade.

  • That is true. the N itself began in 1976 but this version with the nbc chimes and music, was only used during the 1978-79 season to open each program like the Peacock had previously done

  • I agree. Thanks for posting.

    Disco chimes. ICK.

  • It was a disco network then. You had to be there if you weren't!

  • I wasn't born until 1992.

  • Me too.

This sucks. At least they stopped using the "N."

  • I'm more of a Peacock fan myself.

  • Good to finally see a video version of this clip. I heard the audio version of this on that 80's TV theme supersite.
