Just to clear all this up..It's a combination of the hardness and the extremely fine edge that ceramic shards have. Ceramic is very similar to glass, in that when it breaks, the edges are very, very fine, way sharper than anything that can be achieved with steel: almost as small as a few hundred molecules across. Again, that, combined with hardness, causes them to knife right through auto glass like it isn't there.
@VoyToColocao Charge has nothing to do with it you fool. The porcelain is harder then the glass. On the Mohs hardness scale, glass is around 6 while porcelain is 7. When you throw a brick at someone's penis, the penis will probably break because the brick is harder then a penis. The same principal is at play here.
This is not paranormal car-robbering rednecks shit, it's science
Nope. How many times have rocks the same size as that tiny piece of porcelain hit your windscreen and it didn't instantly shatter did it? The porcelain is from a spark plug which carries a high charge. That charge causes the static charges in the tempered glass to suddenly feel to move when it come in contact with the glass and hence the glass spiderwebs.
@90ddg Size has nothing to do with either you rectum reamer. There is no charge in the porcelain. The porcelain is harder than the glass that's why it breaks. Isn't science a funny thing. By your logic, the window would have broken the first time the porcelain hit it. Porcelain is an insulator which means it is a poor conductor of electricity.

Remember when I threw that bowl at Tim and it missed him but hit the slider glass door... and the whole fuckin thing shattered?!?! That must've been why!!!
