hmmm hate to admit it and agree with the general conciseness but seriously, the amount of boost to get this guy off the ground would have to be a minimum of his weight. Lets say he is 70Kgs.. to just make him effective 0 weight. Lets say there was 140 Kg of boost to get him flying (not an expert but logically). This all sits high on his back. he would bend at the waist and head but the water in front of him. put on a backpack and try to get someone to life you up suddenly, head down only

But 1 thing fucked me up is mythbusters tested the botol size which is big bottle explode earlier then small bottle so they use small bottle on the test but the video shows big bottle here :(

Fake. If you watch his trajectory starting at 0:40 till he hits the water you can see that it isnt a smooth arc. Pay close attention when he reaches the height of the launch.

I'm watching the mythbusters episode right now and tbh they didn't do it right. Not saying this isn't faked (because it does look like the pull of a cable) but the bottles here are bigger and they've used more water than mythbusters. On top of that they didn't use a real person either. Even a slight push with your feet would change the trajectory of the launch.

i have to admit it looks kind of fake BUT just because the mythbusters couldn't replicate it doesn't mean it's impossible AND Japanese plastic bottles are a lot thicker than most of their Western counterparts, so one might assume they can hold in much more pressure. i bet the allmighty mythbusters didn't put that into consideration.

@stefan5445 yes that might just be but you have to look at his flight or more exactly his falling trajectory between 43-44 sec. he is not falling either straight down or flying in the right path he should have fallen at. it looks like a cable that was pulling him released him too late thus slowing his fall fot this 1 second.

well, i have to agree this video really does look like they used a cable on that guy.

still, in general i think something like this can be done with those thick Japanese plastic bottles, not nearly as high or long-range and spectacular of course, but still more impressive than what the mythbusters pulled of.
