  • As far as high tenors go, I think Johnny Cook takes them all. Jerry Martin and Jay Parrack are probably close seconds. However, singing high does not necessarily make a great sounding tenor. I prefer Ernie Haase and David Phelps as far as solo singers go because even though they can crank out the notes, they have great sounding voices too.

  • I don't mean to brag, I just sang higher than him.

  • @officerredfield Video or STFU

  • Wow James Canupp isn't that far off....

  • I came here because of the bad singer.

  • James Canupp's version is better. lol

  • I kept waiting for him to take a drink of water like James Canupp

  • @aprilleonatew This guy's name is Brian Free.

  • @Tsuzyoko Thank you so much. I thought it was but looking at some of the new photos of Brian, he totally doesn't look the same anymore!!

  • oh...THAT'S what the song is supposed to sound like.

  • The bad singer version of this is HILARIOUS.

  • @ffyfan15 I'd have to agree. haha

  • @BnCSGMusic Gotta love it.

  • @ffyfan15

    Indeed ;O)

  • @ffyfan15 You can see that "Bad Singers" influence in this video. This guy singing and the bad singer knew when to say "That's enough."

  • @ffyfan15 You mean James Canupp. He also "claims" to have had a competition with Brian Free singing this song and says he wore him out. Probably made Brian want to shoot himself more like.

  • @TheFlicka28 haha that was my favourite part of the video, how he was talking smack before hand, and it turns out he is absolutely horrific!!

  • @TheFlicka28 Right?

    How pathetic.

This song has made me quite famous throughout the past few years...

    Haha.

    Right.

    Infamous more like.

If you to that fatass' channel, he has himself, some others, and Brian Free in a video playlist entitled "greatest tenors of all time."

His videos are 5 of like 16 of them.

    What a POS.

    Haha.

  • Geddy Lee is better than that guy

  • @barndizzle geddy pwns all day!!

  • James Canupp has a far better version of this song.

  • What is the name of the guy that's singing so high?

  • wow now thats what i call reaching the rafters.he was way way up there.great song and great harmony.

  • James Canupp blows this Brian guy outta the water. Look his version up....

  • Always looking for that city...

  • What video, is tis off of?

  • i love my uncle brian in this song. he is one of the greatest gospel singers ever :D and if anybody wants to talk bad about him, my uncle, imma go OFF

  • One person ain't looking for that city

  • Brian's awesome :)

  • some notes you got to have a screw loose to even get anywhere near

  • I love Brian Free he is so talented!!!!

  • Brian Free is Awesome!!!!!! he seems limitless in this song!!!!

  • when i first heard Brian Free sing i thought it was a woman singing...God blessed him greatly..

  • his high voice is amazing.

  • best version i ever heard

  • that is amazing!!! lol he is awesome!

  • its ok but sure not as good as vestel and johnny

  • Brian free is awesome I watched this like 10 times in a row!!

  • gotta say that was pretty damn high & great song too

  • I am just a kid and i can keep up with his high notes, and i can go just a little further. My dad's is freaked out by it.

  • Awsome!!

  • What Video is this from?

  • idk sounds like he strains a bit on the last step up... may just b me. the bass singer reminds me of my principal. lol. i love " come thats all im doin!!" at the end

  • gun that is kinda stupid

  • @Branden5678 I think all Gun was meaning was about making him go that last step up was trying to "kill" him , just a joke

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama, depending on what octaves his range falls in, that is very likely true.

  • is it just me or it seems the other guys want to kill brian?? =S

  • Great love this song

  • It almost sounds like it gets easier for him, the higher it goes.

  • siii... llega alto pero tiene muy poca potencia vocal

    es mejor david phelps

  • who is singing Lead

  • Oh! fantastic.

  • cool video

  • Brian Free sounds even better in person

  • is that brian free???

  • i just cant believe how high he gets!!!! Great song!!!

  • Great tenor.

  • Espetacular!!

  • who is the bass singer here? Jeremy lyle isn't here.

  • No. Bob Caldwell. Jeremy didn't join until, like,10 years later.

  • @BnCSGMusic Haha the 10 years later thing is very funny :)

  • Reminds me of Johnny Cook of the Happy Goodmans.

  • white gospel shows a lot of discipline...

  • @dudemantwo ??? White gospel?

  • Who is higher? Who is better? Who cares? Whether you like Brian Free, David Phelps, Johnny Cook, Rosie Rozelle, Ernie Haase, or any other the best, remember that they are/were spreading God's message

  • @mrstoopidd Amen!

  • @mrstoopidd

Except for those who prefer James Canupp. Then GOD doesn't love you and gave you no brain or working ears!

  • To

    dabeinman

YES... it is Falsetto! Ask his vocal coach " Steve Hurst"

  • @dabeinman No it is not just pure talent

  • is that falsetto?

  • He looks and sounds like a castrado......

  • Hey, i know Brian and i don't think he would really like people arguing about who is the better tenor singer. Let's remember why he does what he does anyway. It's a ministry not a contest!! God Bless you all!!!!

  • If you think someone is higher than Brian Free guess again this is not the highest he can go. Ask him what his nickname is!

  • @Middleschoolgrl What is his nickname .....Love BF&A

  • Jay Parrack has a higher voice than this. He was with Gold City. Gold City lost the best lead they ever had when Jonathan Wilburn left. Jay Parrack's dad Johnny sang tenor for the Kingsmen.

  • @ronosa52

this is not the highest Brian can sing. LOL. def not. and plus Jay Parrack may be able to sing as high as Brian but Brian has so much more quality and power in his voice.

  • You are pretty much on crack, Jay parrack is not anywhere near as good as Brian Free. Brian Free Has won more tenor awards than anybody in history.

  • @justinlee827 I love Brian, but for me, Jay just has something to his voice that just makes me pick him over Brian. But that's whats great about Southern Gospel, we all get to have our different opinions.

  • @BnCSGMusic

I absolutely agree, I truly Love Jay Parrack's voice. He is definately my next favorite, tenor. Have you ever listened to Brian Free and assurance? The new ones? They are great and you should give them a listen.

  • @justinlee827 I do listen to a lot of his stuff. I like him better now then i do back in his older days (but still, that's just me). But as most people know, Danny Funderburk is still my favorite. (:

  • Awsome awsome, you and Danny funderburk.

  • love his voice, wish i could do that. i just wish he was still with the gold city group that he was in

    Brian

    Ivan

    Mike and...

    Tim.

    those guys were the best

  • Does anyone know where this was recorded at? I was at a concert some time ago, and it jsut looks familiar! I remember Brian singing this song.

  • Any man that can hit that D is impressive. His voice is just gorgeous. He and David Phelps, annointed...

  • That is not natural for a man to be able to sing that high!!!!

  • That was the D above middle C! WOW!

  • that was the D5, not th D3, i think....

  • This is a great song and best sung by Brian Free. I try to keep up with him, works til the last couple of times he does the chorus.

  • Sometimes he does a Mi, (E)

  • is that an E6?

  • a short E5

  • Anybody know what the top note was in this song?

  • yea OUCH SHARP

  • i got to meet Brian free&Assurance in Lakeland fl at lake gibson church last year and it was so awesome

  • I fell in love with this group back in 94. And the album they put out in 95 I still say is their best one ever!!! I wish there were more of those songs on Youtube. I don't know where else to find them! "Mercy Granted One More Time" will bring you to tears..... every time you hear it! I have seen these gentleman many times in concert! TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!

  • this is a great song! i learned how to hit the high notes watching and listening from him!

  • WOW! Brian Free & Assurance came to our church a couple of months ago, I bought some CDs and I am the latest biggest fan of their music -- can you imagine the fun I'm having discovering some of this older stuff for the first time? What unbelievable talent, great harmony, great musicians, great fun! Praise God for this offering, keep on singing.

  • I saw them in concert 5 times!!!!! Because I have seen them so much, Brian always reconizes me

  • I've seen them over thirty times they definately recognize me lol

  • Brian Is one of the Highest Tenors I know of in Southern Gospel Music
