i have macbook 13 inch 1.83 Ghz 1GB Ram lol since ever, and now i have ordered this 2.93 4GB 320GB7200 and i just feel sorry for my old macbook :( it will probably got to waste, but anyway, ill just use that as my backup computer maybe :)
yeah, i have mixed feelings about my mac mini as well :s
although the jump was not THAT big, i did use the mini a lot with similar specs (1.83ghz 1GBddr2ram and integrated graphics) to a 2.0ghz soon to be 4gbddr3ram and 160GB HD. i havent used my mini recently, but i still want it :P
marw00t, are you like me? You drooled over that 8 gigs of Ram on a Macbook Pro. 2.93GHZ. Boy, I was shocked. I'm still stuck with my 2.4GHZ and 4 gigs of ram. 512 megs of video ram made me lust, too. I only have 256 megs of video ram. But, it's still fine for me.
The reason i didnt order the one with 8GB ram is because the DDR3 is way too expensive and i just cant afford it because im high-school student living on pocket money from parents and part time crappy jobs. the 4GB ram will stay as a standard amount of ram for like more than a year, i will upgrade to 8GB ram when 4GB ram becomes "Noobish" :)
marw00t: "I will upgrade to 8GB ran when 4GB ram becomes 'noobish.'"
I know what you mean, I said the same thing, but then I loaded my Parallels last night. Parallels 4.0? 8 gigs would be sweet when running Parallels 4.0 and Direct X 9.0 PC games like Neverwinter Nights. It would fly. That's the only thing I noticed. Anything else though and you're right. 8 gigs is overkill without the concerns of virtual OSes.
Man, stick with your 13 inch macbook. I'm getting the 13 inch one in a few weeks from now. 15 inches is not a convenient size and the 17 inch one would be great for watching movies and videos. I currently own a 15 inch previous macbook pro model and when I tested the 13 inch macbook, fell in love with it.
exactly, you have a good head on your shoulders bro,
some guy was telling me how an HP 18.4" laptop pwned my macbook because even though i had a better graphics card, it had a larger HD (200GB), more ports, and an 18" screen,
and i replied,
"isnt there a point where too much screen size is inconvenient, i mean, how exactly is a 2 foot long screen practical?? its useful, but it defeats the purpose of portability, but the 15" or the 13" are the best size when connected to a 24" 2nd display
For portability the 13 inch is the best one indeed. For movies instead of the 17 inch macbook pro, I'll go for the 24 inch iMac, lol. Indeed the 13 inch would be amazing for the 24 inch cinema display HD.
Well if bigger is better, you could get a 20inch hp notebook with a 8800gtx graphic card and 2 hard discs (its x3 faster then the 9600 used by the mac).
Or else you could get an 18.4 acer notebook with 9700gt graphics card.
I wouldnt buy a notebook for 3k when i could get something with better specs and looks for half the price.
I was really hoping for a Mac Mini and iMac update but oh well. That 17" Pro is way out of my price range and needs but for those who need it... wow, what a machine!
The thing I liked most was a 100% DRM free iTunes is coming. I'm very much against DRM so this was just AMAZING to hear.
I think it's a bit disappointing that they didn't update the iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros in this years Macworld. I suppose there will be another keynote at some time updating those, but still, for the very last time they'll be at Macworld, it's a bit disappointing that only one hardware product was updated. But still, 8 hour battery life sounds very nice. I wonder how long it will take to get to 12 hour battery life...
I wasn't into Apple back then, so thanks for showing what the product line up looked like for 1-6-09.

I'm staying with Apple. I love my Macbook Pro. When they hit 5GHZ, then I'll upgrade. I'm still running OS X Tiger. If it works, live with it.

2800??? holy SH*%! I won't be spending that much on any computer. if im spending over $1500 on a laptop, it better be alienware.

let me ask you one question.
what good is a 20" notebook? at all, and how high is a notebook that has 2 hard disks, because
18"x16"x3" is VERY unattractive

Reckon $400 can justify the extra 0.16Ghz I supposedly need for HD video editing in Adobe? - Just asking.

i know, i was looking forward to a mini update too :P
and they have finally compressed the computing power of the mac pro into a laptop, maybe thats why it costs the same as a quad core :P

I bet the battery actually lasts 2-3 hours

Hopefully the stuff people thought were going to be announced at the macworld would be announced at WWDC.

I believe some where around June, kinda far away :(

Darn. I've decided to get the macbook pro 17 inch, by that time I should have saved enough for a mac pro anyway.
What were you hoping for?
christheferal 3 years ago
Im hoping for that quadcore iMac, or basically the one with the i7 CPU.
