I luv to watch these lovely people dancing with such verve. When I was in Cuba last year, the best joy was to listen to music, when everybody just starts dancing, and Cubans dance fabulously. I have to go again, maybe next time to Havana. Peace to you Cuba!

Esto si es salsa pero en mi opinion no me gusta que tuviera tanta coreografía al principio de la rueda. Personalmente me gusta la rueda de Casino improvisada porque pones todas tus emociones y la disfrutas mas. Y Viva Cuba libre!

Thanks for the illuminating comment. FYI, I am Cuban. This choreography reminds me of the set dances that we did when I was in middle school in Cuba. We learned steps and presented the piece in municipal festivals... Now, my point is that true Cuban son is spontaneous and improvised, NOT choreographed. This clip is infantile and cheesy. Playful improvisation is at the heart of Cuban dance (as it is at the heart of the African and Spanish dances from which it originated).

I'm not disqualifying these dancers. I'm just saying that this is showy style of salsa for spectators (tourists, other Cubans), the same way that you have showy styles of tang for Broadway, etc. Let's not take that as an authentic manifestations of Cuban dance. This is not how most Cubans dance salsa. And, by the way, give credit to Arsenio Rodrigues and Tito Puente for the phrase "salsa is what you put in your tacos"

Beautiful dancing! I believe these are Ban Rra Rra! Folkloric masters! And they WEREN'T DANCING TO THE MUSIC POSTED ON THIS VIDEO! They were dancing to "Seis Semanas" by Los Van Van. But whoever did this didnt do a bad job of re-synching the wrong music with the right dancing!!
