  • Go ahead Imelda I ought to send you some art to see if need any logo's and disc work done. Love your style dear.

  • Love me some Imelda May!

  • amazon you beauty you have introduced me into an amazing singer you never do let me down

  • Crank this up and let it go...it rocks like Heart on overdrive..not much rockabilly in it but wow!!

  • Anyone think she should sing the next Bond song? Unreal voice.

  • I first heard her with Jeff Beck. Guess she's doing alright on her own now.

  • interesting....

  • rockabilly was never pop, not even in the 1950s. It was more akin to punk. It was banned by many adults and not sold in reputable record stores. Literally banned. Pop in the 1950s was something else, not rockabilly.

  • @mk3900 perfect comment

  • @mk3900 - Damn right! hahaha, that reminds me of Johnny Depp in Cry Baby..."something my daddy would have looooved" hahaha

  • first time i hear this gal....me likie....

  • Love you Imelda!! That voice! xxxxx from Chicago.

  • I Love How She Never Wears Dresses Above Her Knee And Still Looks Amazing :O Shes A True Role Modle For Girls..Not These Singers Flashin Everything They Got....

  • @ColetteConroy96 For all the skin and skank in the "Inside Out" video, Imelda is by far the sexiest woman on the screen. even in her modest dresses . . .

  • The only thing I hate about this song is that it's so short. I guess that's the sign of a great artist. Always leave 'em wanting more.

I wish mainstream US radio (non-college stations) would play her songs. Imelda May deserves more exposure/credit.

  • @SpankRamen2 Boy, you got that right--I found out about her purely by chance. This is as hot as it gets, some of the best recent stuff I've heard, the whole package: voice, song, band, performance . . . Where the hell is she on the radio?!

  • How is she so hot!?

  • those "psychos" are far too sweet......

  • finally... a Rockabilly chick that's NOT covered in tattoos.

  • @hot318 maybe she's covered... but its also first rockabilly chick that didn't show us tits at first second of music video... its sad :(

  • Imelda is the best!!! she was great in Peer, hope to see her again @ Peer

  • this shit swings!

  • @richcapo you kind of sound like an ass, and that being said; you are correct sir.

  • "I'm not so snobbish as to look down on pop, in fact I embrace it when it's done well."

I find that most people who are down on pop don't realize just how wide a category of music that is. Pop is defined by certain characteristics that cross over its many sub-genres: Western "Church" tonal centers, verse-chorus formats, common instruments (voice, bass, drums, guitar, etc.), and chord progressions like I-IV-V.

Pop is everything from Britney to Motorhead, Portishead, Slipknot, and, yes, Imelda.

  • @richcapo Pop really isn't "slipknot" this is why we have other names for different types of music, we can't class everything as pop.

  • @EleniaPB If you have a background in musical studies or composition, you'd likely see that Imelda May and Slipknot have more in common than not in common, and that they are both pop. Different types of pop, but pop nonetheless.

Want to hear something that's not pop? Listen to artists like John Zorn.

  • Superbe - c'est une chanteuse qui va tout massacrer la médiocrité qui sévit en France. Je lui prédit un énorme succès lors de sa prochaine tournée en France !

  • @sonnydcfc13

What do you mean she isn't that talented? I have heard her live and beg to differ - she is so much better than more popular artists like LMFAO (apologises to anyone who likes them AND Imelda May but to me it is mostly synth and annoying like Dub-step)Basically if you don't like it don't listen to it - in slamming it, you put a downer on someone elses' day!

  • Pop?... man ... Rockabilly ain't been "pop" since the fifties?

  • Imelda May Is a SPOILED BRAT!!!! KIcked her opening band-The ETTES.... off of her tour because the lead singer mostly said she might blow imelda off the stage. ITS rock n roll Imelda!!! lead singers say stuff!!! what a spoiled brat!! lost all respect for Imelda.. awww poor baby.. are you ok now? is the threat over?? baby!

NO respect.. and btw there is no chance of coco form the ETTES sounding better than Imelda... Imelda blew the doors off the Paradise club in Boston, Sept. 28 2011

  • @livingonanotherplane So you've created a youtube account to troll on one artist? Do you know how fucking lame and childish that is?

  • Boy she sure scratches that itch, doesn't she? : )

  • great production

  • thats pop eye from britains got talnt omg lol. hes in the guimness world records book as well for furthest eye protrusion. eww lol.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm blue latex suit :D

  • Reminds me of the Detroit Cobras sound.

  • She`s juts like a young Caro Emerald

  • The lead guitarist used to be in my dads band, I think he's married to imelda, he's quality, but a bit of a knob... and just so you know, she's not actually that talented

  • @sonnydcfc13 neither are a lot of todays celebreties but still everyone is listenin' to them :/

  • The patients are Morris Tink , Dennis Woganstein and Terence Flahagn.

  • she has such a fine, distinctive voice :)

i don't know who's really going psycho in this video, her lover? but personally, I know I can relate! inevitably, repressing my innate, animalistic urges can push me further into psychosis. oh what a paradox.

  • I'm liking this mix of rockabilly and blues

  • me enamoré de ella :,)

  • Dave Grohl may seem like an odd choice, but it makes sense if you consider that to represent Nirvana (not Foo Fighters, sillies), it'd have to be him or Kirk, and having a Kirk look alike in a padded cell acting crazy -might- be in bad taste. Maybe?

  • So, I've been listening to this song for 16 hours, and I'm beginning to think the patients are Dave Grohl, Cee Lo, Rob Zombie, and finally Elvis. If that's the case then this video had a philosophical depth that borders on eternity...anyone back me up with this or am I just going psycho? Eh, eh?

  • @SpookyJohnathan I reckon it's Louis Armstrong instead of Cee Lo. Them crazy eyes and that smile! Golly gee. This video is just delicious. Well, mostly the parts where you see her. A rockabilly goddess in rubber and red lipstick!

  • at 1.05 is that the guy from Britain's got talent...the eye popper dude?

  • @Loumeister21 Yes. His name is Dennis Tahagenstein.

  • I wouldn't mind driving her a little crazy.

  • It's nice to see a modern version of rockabilly.shes amazing.

  • love

  • This cat´s are as good as u could get on earth, at least. This is a rockabilly fan dream came true! So well done. Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the coolest video. great song. they've earned a fan in me.

  • Her voice reminds me of Karen O's voice of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

  • Freaking incredible show in San Francisco...they are so nice and approachable...sweet show in an intimate venue...show of a lifetime...

  • very nice video, musicians, but you need a B3 or piano. drummer tim andrew

  • I think I meet her tonight....

  • HAHA the black guy (asside from looking like a human Cleveland) is the guy that can pop his eyes out xD :P

  • I hope this is a sign that Rockabilly is gonna make a comeback.

  • Funnily enough, reminds me a bit of VV Brown.

  • HA HA, the psycho with the dreads looked like Rob Zombie.

  • unbelievable goooooood

  • It's odd...I clicked on a video for an artist as talented as Imelda May and, over in the 'suggestion' area to the right, YouTube actually had the nerve to list an artist as untalented as Lady Gaga. That is an insult to Imelda May (and to talent)!

  • First saw/heard her on the wonderful Jeff Beck Tribute to Les Paul DVD. Love the song and vid. Great artist. ♥

  • Imelda May is HOT. Enough said

  • I'm sure that's the black dude with the poppy eyes that's on britains got talent in front of me!!!!

  • If I died today and came back as that blue dress, there would be no regrets. Imelda is just awesome but Al needs his doghouse bass. Needs it!

  • dog is so necessary :D

  • brings back memories of that great 80s band b52s...she is rockabilly, what about the music?

  • To the 11 dislikes, on away with ye and listen to your Katy Perry and Kesha "songs" and leave the real music to the grown-ups.

  • @86Marse UP MAYO!!!

  • @86Marse You said it!!! Thank God there is still REAL talent like Imelda's.

  • @86Marse this is rediculous :s kesha and katy perry are totally better than this :S

  • @moaki5098 They are as good as your spelling!

  • @86Marse thnx-.- im from cyprus

  • @moaki5098 Well done. Anyway, Imelda May needs no defending against the likes of Katy Perry, her talent speaks for itself.

  • @86Marse ahm

  • @moaki5098 Kesha? Seriously? Now, that is ridiculous. Imelda May has more talent in her little finger.

  • @86Marse Yep.

  • @86Marse I'm the 20th. She cannot sing as she has no proper voice. Let's listen to Patsy Cline and Janis Martin. Or maybe great Decca 50's rockabilly :) There are a lot of worth listening then

  • @hillbillyboy77 I like Imelda May's album but her live shows are what get me. She can sing, how can you say she doesn't have a "proper voice." Lou Reed seems to think so, and he's hardly a man for throwing out compliments. He barely likes himself ...

  • @86Marse This isn't real music. Try the Stray Cats mate. This is fucking POP!

  • @Badgerinthenight Music is subjective, and I likes what I likes and I likes Imelda May. If you want to class her as "pop" (which I disagree with, certainly elements of it in Mayhem the album, but she's not pop) then so be it. I'm not so snobbish as to look down on pop, in fact I embrace it when it's done well.

  • @86Marse It sounds like anything else nowadays. There's nothing original about it. It's far to clean cut to be real rockabilly.

  • @Badgerinthenight I don't think she's rockabilly either, she LOOKS it, but isn't it musically. I don't think she has ever labelled herself as rockabilly to be honest, I think it is a label put on her by the media based on her looks. And just because she is not pure rockabilly in your eyes, I don't think you should let that cloud your view that the woman is talented. Might not be your cup of tea, fine, but to say she is "trash" is a bit much. If you don't like her, stop clicking on her videos :)

  • @86Marse

Check out Imelda May Live Session of "Train Kept a Rollin'". Imelda credits Johnny Burnette for influencing her and a lot of the band. She refers to the song as a Rockabilly classic.

  • Referring to "Train Kept a Rollin" she called it "good ol' Rockabilly".

  • @86Marse Couldn't agree more. I don't give a rat's ass what they wanna call it, I love it. Good music is good music, whatever the category.

  • @86Marse I've never noticed anything even remotely pop inspired in her music, it's rather just straight forward rockabilly templates all the way (no musicians can blame her, especially if you have ever touched rockabilly). I can't see the other guy's comment, but I certaintly don't see any pop in her music.

  • @TheNinetySecond Maybe I should have said more mainstream instead of more pop. I certainly feel Mayhem is the more accessible album, even though Love Tattoo is my personal favourite. I won't claim to know much about the rockabilly scene as a whole outside of what hits the mainstream. I like it in small doses, but wouldn't lay claim to be a fan of the genre. I am a massive fan of Imelda's though. She was on Jay Leno this week and hopefully she gets the respect she deserves in America.

  • @86Marse : Rockabilly...... not pop.... :)

  • @86Marse Not sure how old this comment is, and forgive me if this is a really old conversation, but I'd like to respectfully disagree with you about calling May "pop". I think she's more pop....like, in a primitive form. Everything is pop and sizzle and bang with her. You can't really say that with most pop acts, even though they carry diluted versions of what she embodies. I think she's very much pop, though pop simply doesn't recognize her.

    Regardless, she's amazing.
