  • Best era of Black Sabbath...

  • Best non-extreme voice ever!

  • I came here thinking it was nightwing the comic book character and found an awesoume song

  • Imagine that! These vocals are the pre-recording vocals not the final. Cozy Powell liked em most so they decide to keep em as it is! Cozy you were right! RIP!

  • Tribute for the nightwing robin became nightwing

  • the tony martin era...my favourite sabbath era.

  • The Tony Martin era is underrated. I have to say, Ozzy is obviously the most identifiable Sab vocalist, he crafted their sound and is a founding member. So really, whether a huge fan of his voice or not, he stands alone at the top. And he's the singer doing the reunion album and tour now. It's the original four. The Dio era has to be 2nd best, the first two Dio albums are superb. I really like Born Again, as well. And the Ray Gillen stuff. Tony Martin to me is last, but still good.

  • @guitarbassplayer68 He may have sung with them during their first albums, but musically from what I understand he did absolutely shit all; Iommi wrote most of the melodies and Butler wrote the lyrics. So... I do like that stuff with Ozzy in for Sabbath, don't get me wrong, I just don't think he's a particularly talented vocalist. Dio's easily the top for me... Dehumanizer is just such a killer album. Then Martin. Then Ozzy. And fuck Seventh Star!

  • this song come from the heaven

  • Don't feed the troll. Ignore it and it'll go away.

  • 6 PEOPLE HEAR PINK METAL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Five mother fuckers dislikes I fuck your Mother you Mother Fucken Disliker Assliker cock sucker. Katolic asshole Müslim bandit or every mother fucken sick people.

  • xgalore, how ignorant you are, sabbath is great, songs like heaven and hell, children of the sea ,nightwing, spiral achitect prube it,long live sabbath

  • super crap, paranoid is their only good song

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Shame on you... That song is an overrated piece of crap. The band themselves didn't like it; they initially rejected it as it was too mainstream. A shame their producers made them keep it... Sabbath had so much more to offer the radio stations than that.

  • @DarkWolf5250 so much more to offer huh? like what? this pathetic song? black sabbath are an overrated band in general, like i said, they only have one good song, the rest is rubbish.

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Black Sabbath is pitifully underrated, compared to most of the shit played on the radio. Take Queen as an example. I will admit I haven't heard too much of their stuff, but the stuff I have heard (which is the stuff eveyone's heard at some point on the radio) has been complete shit. And yet they are considered one of the greatest rock bands ever! That's just wrong. Sabbath, especially with Dio and Martin, were awesome.

  • @DarkWolf5250 lol u would compare the work of freddie to sabbath, sabbath are nothing compared to queen, just a bunch of losers making crap music, could never match the talents of queen.

  • @xgalore77zerha268 And you would compare the shit that was Queen to Sabbath? Then we have nothing more to say to each other.

  • @DarkWolf5250 now gaywolf, try not to get all worked up over your crap band, otherwise your sensitive ass will have a cry.

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Whoa whoa whoa! Cracking out the personal insults, now are we? Have nothing better to say, so you result to calling someone you don't know at all homosexual? That's pretty rude.

  • @DarkWolf5250 Whoa whoa whoa! just wait a minute whoa whoa whoa!! this occasional really calls for a whoa whoa whoa! yo gaywolf, waaaa waa

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Congratulations... You almost managed to say something coherent there! Good try! Go back to grade 1 and learn basic sentence composition, you nit.

  • @DarkWolf5250 no more whoa's gaywolf? keep on crying baby, waaaa

  • @xgalore77zerha268 You know, as much fun as it is talking to someone with the emotional maturity (and intelligence) of your common 5 year old... Quite frankly, this is growing tiresome. So... Adios.

  • @DarkWolf5250 bye gaywolf, try not to waste other peoples time

  • @xgalore77zerha268 You drama queen loser, its no wonder you like Queen's gay ass singer you battboy. Tony Martin rules!

  • @MichellesPoontang pipe down will ya nobody cares about you

  • Regardless of who the singer was, we can all agree that Black Sabbath put out an amazing volume of work through the years.

  • what a voice!!! R.I.P. Ronnie!

  • @axplayakc ooooops! what a voice Tony- R.I.P. Ronnie!

  • Life now seems to frown on songs longer than 2:37...

  • after hearing this and heaven and hell you know why Iommi never reunited with ozzy for a tour. I hope that tony martin comes back.

  • This song is probably my favourite of the entire Tony Martin era Sabbath... And that's saying a lot! I own Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, and Tyr on LP, as well as Cross Purposes on CD, and I love every album, but this particular song always gives me a chill. Especially the final wail, 'Nightwing flies again!'... So good!

  • Comment removed

  • @MichellesPoontang Yup... Well, I dunno about any era for me... That may have to be TV Crimes, from Dehumanizer... But this song is fucking amazing. I love the entire Tyr album too, except that one that sticks out on it... Something about Love? Some slow song... Ah, Feels Good. But the rest is killer. I have to stop listening to Headless Cross... I'm wearing down the record!

  • i tell you / Tony Martin was tailored fitted for Sabbath ! his voice fit Sabbath's music !

  • Fucking great voice Tony Martin.

  • This is what metal is about.

  • Tony Martin's voice really suits Sabbath. This is of course coming from a Dio Fan

  • this is a awsome album, my favorite black sabbath chapter;) they should re-release this album.

  • i hope the five dislikers have died

  • elite quote

    perltyr ftw

  • Superb!

  • Five people thought this was a little bit too heavy for them.

  • nightwing has stirred and taken to flight...........

  • I agree The Tony Marti Era is Awesome... is all of Tony Iommi's career.... he is one of Rock's Prodigy's

  • I love the Forbidden album. It has some raw power in it. Give it a chance.

  • When i listen to this song I imagine a stealth jet flown by Captain Ronnie James Dio .... wreaking havoc on evil sinners !! "The killer's around the bend .... NIGHTWING flies again !!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Ronnie james Dio rules

  • @pjarndt This ain't Dio...

  • I love the bass in this song... This song and The Shining. They're both so distinctive and easy to hear... And sound good too! The rest of the band is good too, obviously...

  • rip-ronnie/dio-lol

  • is it me or does the intro sounds so much like the acoustic intro to Children of the Sea? still a great song though

  • Comment removed

  • When I listen to this song I imagine a stealth jet,50 years from now which has been taken out of the old hangar left untouched for 50 years. China (in an imaginary sense) has taken over the world, yet it never found stealth technology because America destroyed every last trace of evidence. A ghost like figure of Ronnie James Dio re-enters the atmosphere to take controls of this 50 year old stealth bomber to inflict major damage on chinese forces and eventually secure peace for the western world.

  • @Stealthkeys77 thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard.

  • Tony Martin is amazing singer ...

  • One of the most epic ballad ever made.

  • @metz3962 Agree

  • Black sabbath and Tony Martin in particular has really helped me in my song writing, excellent stuff Sabbath! Should go on your with Tony again.

  • Tony Martin with Sabbath has 5 albums not 4 by years 1987,1989,1990,1994,1995, All Great LP's

  • I like these sabbath albums with TM.I think they are great. It's cool to discover music that i havent heard before. That being said.I dont care what anyone says.every album ozzy did with sabbath was heavier then every album done with TM.Im not saying that because ozzy made it that way.its just that the early sabbath was much heavier then this.I like to listen to TM era stuff but I wish it was a little heavier

  • @smithdsmit there's more to music than being "heavier"

  • @losdog13 I know there is more to music then being heavier.it's just that when i think of sabbath.I think heavy metal and these TM albums sound more like whitesnake then they do sabbath.I like these albums.I just prefer the di ozzy era

  • ...The night is cold and thick with mystery oh i can feel his beating wings...

  • come on guys let be honest, stop arguing about the singer this band is about Iommi(well because geezer wasnt in Tony Martin's era except cross purpose), did you hear the beast of a riff after the scream of Tony at 2:40? best guitarist ever =D, actually Martin is great but i believe the lack of success of Tyr and Headless Cross made them create some regular albums because of the change of direction like cross purposes and fobidden still having some great songs though

  • Does this song have anything to do with nightwing from the comics?

  • This song is absolutely amazing! , Tony vocal is one of the best vocals on the fucking world! much better than ozzy for me

  • Comment removed

  • i didn't become a fan of sabbath until i found a box of cassettes in my front yard,it was1982,the box contained all black sabbath until that time,i loved it..and through the years with their many changes i still love the sound ..my favorite of the newer albums is seventh star..to me sabbath was some what of a christian band in the eighties...perhaps they always were....the only time i seen them live, dio was fronting dehumanizer in minneapolis on halloween...it was awesome when they had horns on

  • @jagermikestar wow,,dude get a girlfriend ....hopefully one that is a listener,..

  • Tony Martin was under fucking paid !!

  • Masterpiece song and album. Iommi was absolutely inspired and that thunderous drumming by Cozy........Not to mention the fabulous Tony Martin....

  • TONY MARTIN THE BEST SINGER NEXT TO DIO. I THINK HE SHOULD FINISH THE HEAVEN AND HELL TOUR,DIO WOULD WANT IT THAT WAY I BELIVE.

  • this is my 12th favorite sabbath album

  • Wow this guy's really good!

  • Toni Martin is Bigest Great voys

  • Gillan, Hughes, Ozzy, Dio, Tony; This is Black Sabbath, a beast or a dragon with many heads, and each blows fire of metal.

  • @perltyr gillan sang with sabbath?!?!?! u have to give me a couple song names!!!!!!

  • @usrname15 Make sure you get yourself a copy of "Born Again". That album very underrated! You´ll like it for sure.

  • @usrname15 the best ones are zero the hero, disturbing the priest, trashed, and born again

  • @billgeezeriommi And Digital Bitch and Hot Line... What's truly terrifying is when your mother, coming up the stairs while I have this LP playing, starts singing the ending of Hot Line... You know, the part where he starts wailing "Hot Line"? My mother is not a singer. At all. It was horrible. I thought my stereo was about to explode.

  • @perltyr Dude I'm not kidding this is real poetry what you just said :)

  • @perltyr Truth! I'd only add Ray Guillen.

  • @perltyr Except that 3 of the ones you mentioned all did their best work with Blackmore, not Iommi.

  • @CentraCross In your opinion, maybe...

  • @DarkWolf5250 Oh Come On - Born Again vs All of Mk II ? Seventh Star vs Mk III ? The work they did with Iommi was great, but it was just a couple of one-off projects.

As for Ronnie - yes that's me who likes Dio's Rainbow better than Dio's Sabbath. Which I like better than Dio Solo.

  • @CentraCross I have no idea what you mean... Mk II meaning? Mk III meaning? I don't like Seventh Star, in case you thought I did...

For me, Dio is just as good as Dio Sabbath, and Dio Rainbow... They are all awesome. I will admit I haven't listened much to Deep Purple, just Machine Head mainly (if that's what you were referring to in your comment)...

  • @DarkWolf5250 Mk II is the "Classic" Purple Line-Up with both Gillan and Blackmore. Mk III is the one with Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale.

  • Thank god Tony Iommi had/has a good long life to continue to riff his ass off and add to his already immense collection, kicking our butts through the speakers. (unlike Jimi Hendrix)

  • @WJHHunterston ok not sure if youre dissing one of the greatest musicians of all time?

  • @blacksabbathvids No, I'm saying how tragic it would be if Iommi had a short life like Hendrix and was denied the opportunity to create 200+ songs. I'm happy he's still making new songs, pissed that his Japan releases aren't played on American radio, I met him in 1994 at the NAMM and I;m glad all this great stuff is available on youtube.

  • @WJHHunterston ok haha yeah it is a shame that hendrix went so soon. he was a legend. ive always wanted to see black sabbath and hendrix together but that will never happen :(

  • Man, I know it's not Dio but it kinda sounds like him :) REALLY NICE SONG FROM Black Sabbath...

  • some of the best metal..this song was one of those that made me a metal head. Tony Martin is way better than the whiny Ozzy..Dio's ok RIP

  • @sumdyude for me it was the tyr album that turned me on to martin. that album kicks ASS

  • Just one word: PERFECT!!!

  • This song is not about barn owls or cats.

    It's about me.

  • this is my favorite song of all time and the reason tony martin is my favorite vocalist of all slightly ahead of dio, geoff tate, and headless cross is my fav sabbath album of all time and i saw sabbath on their first tour through san francisco back in the early 70's and its still the best concert ive ever seen

  • I WANT TO HEAR/SEE A LIVE VERSION OF THIS!!! Does anybody know where I can find this?

  • My all time favorite Black Sabbath song.

  • 3 solos!!! Inspired! Well done, unbeleivable song!

  • Tony Martin GREAT VOCAL..

  • one of the best sabbath albums ever

  • Tony Martin is agreat singer. But the Dynamic force of the band is enormous...

    that album is fantastic.

Notice the intro at this song the 12 strings with the freatless bass, the drums Awsome you never get bored with them. The song changes form 3-4 times like 3 songs to one unique!!!

  • classic metal!! Tony Martin era Sabbath is very underrated unfortunately

  • I'd swear this song is about cats.

  • nope, the song is about a barn owl, (Tyto Alba)...

  • Black as white and white as black.

  • he is the MASTER! Tony Martin is the greatest vocal of Sabbath history&Metal music!

  • @greatmacedonia3 Very nice voice indeed......

  • One of the best Iommi's guitarwork. Tony is always praised as a riff-master, but in the late '80s, during the Martin-era there so many beautiful solos ....

This song is amazing and has everything: acoustic arpeggio+solo, typical Iommi's riff, wonderful solos.... I simply love this song <3

    :)

  • This is a song my wife likes, what can I say it's a great song.

  • Unfortunate for the poor edits. Still 'Headless Cross' is one I go back to occasionally

  • PAZUZU king of demons of the wind!

  • Tony is a great singer and he suits perfect in the album

  • I think NIGHTWING is about a bat.

A bat that can eat whales.

  • @smilingpug: - nope: it's abgout a barn owl (Tyto Alba)...

  • @Katzenkaiser in german it's called "Schleiereule" or maybe vail owl...

  • @smilingpug its about the demon PAZUZU....

  • judas priest also wrote a song called night crawler about pazzuzu

  • How anyone can listen to this and say it's not worthy of Black Sabbath's legacy astounds me.

  • That fucking riff at 2:46 is freaking amazing! Hail Tony Iommi!

  • pero como no lo habia escuchado antes

  • Sucks that this CD is no longer available!

  • @VenzaMaiden I CAN SEND YOU THE SONGS BY MAIL OR ANYTHING.I HAVE THE CD.LONG LIVE THE METAL.

  • buenísimo, gran época para los Sabbath

  • Tony Martin albums are underrates.

    Headless Cross pwns asses

  • NIGHTWING FLIES AGAIN...

  • que hermosa cancion¡

  • Favorite track!

  • you have discovered hot water!

i listened this cd first time in early '90, indeed it is always great!

  • dio is one of the best lead singers of all time. we wish you good health. recover quickly.

  • Hey bro, with all due respect, this ain't Dio!! Lol!! This is Tony Martin. If you're uneducated to the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath, you should have the veils removed....QUICKLY!!! 4 albums of absolute GREATNESS!!

  • @insurancedaddy

People are lazy to read video descriptions...

  • I totally agree m8...Tony is one of my favourites singers ever...

  • there is 5 albums with tony martin only headless cross and tyr are masterpieces. Cross purposes and eternal idol are good but Forbidden just sucks ass

  • @CrushJehovah

    I don't even count Forbidden....lol. That's why I said 4 albums of greatness.

  • @insurancedaddy wich album dont you like that tony martin did? im wondering cause you said 4 and he did 5 albums with sabbath

  • @insurancedaddy Lift the veil a bit further, there are 5 albums. Unless you mean only 4 out of the 5 are great.

That being the case I would have to say this album would be my least favourite out of the 5 but that's just me.

A year to reply, well better late than never.

  • @insurancedaddy You mean 5 not 4 big Sabbath fan my self 1987 The Eternal Idol,1989 The Headless Cross 1990 TYR,1994 Cross Purposes,1995 Forbidden, All Tony Martin singing and DIO is awesome to All Sabbath is

  • @carnage6900 You know, the person probably left Forbidden out of it for a reason... I love Sabbath, but I can't stomach Forbidden or Seventh Star except in small, small doses. Forbidden... Even Tony Martin hated that one. I lost all respect for the album after the first song, with the semi-rapping crap... But that's just me. And probably most other Tony Martin-era fans....

  • @slayer9656 Well, that failed.

  • an absolutely amazing song =)

  • FUCKING EPIC SOLOS and an amazing song

  • COZY IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

  • this song is superb

  • I think Tony Iommi could have done it without the edits near the end

  • Black Sabbath both went down in history with Ozzy and will remain forever

  • I agree. I hope Ozzy never comes back.

I wish for more albums with Dio, or Tony Martin. One never knows what the future might bring.

  • tReat,

I saw Heaven And Hell live twice in the past two years. God, how I've loved to have heard Dio sing this (or Headless Cross or Valhalla)!

  • Great bass solo by Lawrence Cottle, One of Lord Iommi's favourite bassists. It took me almost 5 hours to type "bassists".

  • I love Tony Martin...

  • check out his live version of this song. it kicks ass

  • WHERE? i would love to hear the live version, is it on youtube?

  • just search tony martin 09

  • yeah i found it, his tone is awesome, havent heard him like that since before the cross purposes tour

  • i know he sounds fantastic. if you havnt check out the version of headless cross from that show

  • In this song and Headless Cross I really must say that Tony Martin unleashes his inner talent, to be honest I don't like his Eternal Idol, I only like THe Shining and Ancient Warrior, by far this is one of the most best albums Tony Martin has ever sang on

  • Most underated Sabbath album

  • One of the best "Black Sabbath" albums ever!!!

  • some evil shit right here, heaven and hell and the headless cross my all time sabbath albums ftw.

  • Great song. Lawrence Cottle's bass is superb!

  • The devil you know is pale? I totally disagree

  • I liked that album, it wasn't a masterpeice, but it was amazing to hear how strong Dios voice still is at his age.

  • Dio doesn't sing on this album, Tony Martin does.

  • i was talking about widafa's post about The Devil You Know, I know that Tony Martin sings this, and he is amazing too

  • Headless Cross Tour 2009

    United States and Canada

My space Headless Cross Tour 2009

I cannot wait to see them in July in California! July and August 2009

  • heaven and hell eats this stuff up,but there is a few good songs like this one on the album like headless cross,a kill in the spirit world.

  • Still... Is two incredible albums from the second best SABBATH LINE UP!!! One that marked a very significant time in METAL HISTORY!!! .... Coss Purposes and martin WHO????? lol lol lol ( Sorry) but is it even worth mentioning them??? (we dont think so!!)
