The first true attempt of the workers to take control and govern themselves... even though many mistakes were made it was the first to prove that anarchist, grass-root level way to socialism does exist and is a viable solution for the elitist party methods that were later in such wide use. Anarcho-Communism of the Commune stands head taller above the Stalinist Communism. The result of Paris Commune? Bakunin 1, Marx 0!
@Kasakkasotnia I think you're just blindly prejudiced against Marx. To start with, he wasn't really concerned with theorizing about how a socialist society would be like, his works are almost exclusively about expounding his theories of historical materialism and class analysis - he wrote virtually nothing on socialism or communism, contrary to popular misconception.
But to the extent he did write about socialism, well, surprise, he pointed to the Paris Commune as his idea of a socialist society in his essay On the Civil War in France. Bakunin and Marx loved to quabble over straw men but in fact their ideas aren't very different at all, and Marx was a huge influence on Bakunin. Do read Marx some day,
plugging your fingers in your ears and shouting "Stalin Stalin Stalin" every time you encounter something Marx-related is a silly and tired tactics that usually comes from the right wing. If you research the topic honestly you might find out that Marx was much more democratic and Bakunin much more elitist than you assume now- it's not very important though, seeing Marx wasn't really a theorician of socialism anyway, but rather just a socialist theorician of capitalism. I hope you get my point
The best thing they did durring the coummune was to prove that a better world is possible, that socialism has nothing to do with violence AND their enemies poved us capitalism has nothing to do with democracy and freedom.
Too bad that people like RaulSmen live among us. He is showing us the real face of liberalism this individualist philosophy of those who want to enrich them self without being honest. They despise the workers and our society, they are like wolfs among us.

Ok, What does that have to do the La Comuna de Paris? Those men and women were not capitalist by any means. If anything, I would think that they would have been against it.
Working men's Paris, with its Commune, will be forever celebrated as the glorious harbinger of a new society. Its martyrs are enshrined in the great heart of the working class. Its exterminators history has already nailed to that eternal pillory from which all the prayers of their priest will not avail to redeem them.
