  • 1st serious horror i ever watched , great still one of the best so called video nastys :-)

  • 1:08 u won't rickroll anymore bitch!

  • City Of The Living Dead is one of my favorite Fulci classic italian splatter epics, next to his widely known "Zombie" in 1979.City has a seething, gothic atmosphere that permeates every frame, very creepy stuff, the evil priest that leads the hordes of walking dead gave me the willies!

  • Also released as "Gates of Hell" in NY. One of the creepiest, atmospheric horror movies ever. It's everything a horror movie should be. Truly, epic!

  • @stompafly What a stupid comment.

  • My favorite part in this whole movie is when the Preist is making the blonde chick puke her guts up. It always looks so delicious! Haha

  • Takie dno, że piękne do rozpaczy! Hej!

  • Oh, shit, this has Antonella Interlenghi and Giovanni Lombardo Radice in it?

  • Stupendo film del maestro Lucio Fulci, che fu un genio incompreso!

  • @massiccioshikitv guardando questo trailer c'è una ragione se era incompreso

  • film italiani sempre i più violenti!

  • Soundtrack by Goblin

  • @UnknowSoldier87, actually the soundtrack is by Fabio Frizzi and not by Goblin. Frizzi also did the soundtrack for Fulci´s "Zombi 2" and "The Beyond" and some earlier movies like "Silver Saddle" and "Sette Note in Nero". Although those two soundtracks were in collaboration with Franco Bixio and Vince Tempera.

  • I love this shitty movie. Fulci was the king of trash.

  • Please someone reply. I am 14 I love zombie movies I have seen Zombi 2 but I am worried about this film if I'll be to scared considering the zombies fly and have super strength

  • this movie also goes by the name THE GATES OF HELL

  • 1:01 is Michele Soavi!

  • Great show, please check my trailer out for my no-budget banshee horror - The Keening

  • 0:26 and drill scene he deserved it.

  • crap movie but at least it has some dent gore effects

  • Is ths better than the shitty re-make, where the blood spills have been made by computer???

  • Lucio Fulci's movies are sick, classic , horror movies that very few have topped since.

  • Who did the music for this one? Was it the same guy who scored Zombi 2? I'm curious cause the music in City of the Living Dead has lots of similarities. I can't quite describe it... there's moments in City of the Living Dead where I think there were two song ideas presented for each scene of Zombi 2 and all the ones that didn't make that film were used here.

  • @master6of6omens6 It's probably the band "Goblin". Just Google it. That band made background music for alot of Italian horror movies.

  • @master6of6omens6 It's Fabio Frizzi

  • watching this movie now...teleporting zombies...wah? well, its fiction anythings possible in fiction.

  • "Oh damn, eye candy's dead already"

    "Okay, I guess not"

    "Waaaait...now she is"

    "...maybe not?"

    "Okay NOW she'll die"

  • Yes, Fuici's a stylist: much of it he got from Antonin Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty--perhaps that's why he magnifies the "trauma" of victims who're bigger stiffs than their zombie persecutors. However, Fulci's treatment of characters as simple sitting ducks for all sorts for gruesomely orchestrated deaths doesn't bring "realism" intot he equation at all. It's just sloppy characterisation. Romero and Argento deal in the fantastique: but they don't entirely reduce their protagonists to dummies.

  • A great-bad zombie film all the same; much appreciate the post.

  • is another name of this movie gates of hell?

  • Why is it in Lucio Fulci films the protagonists just stand there murmuring asthmatically while zombies advance at a snail-like pace towards them, or else stand there like dummies ineffectually waving their arms about as their mouths are stuffed full of flying maggots. The real implausibilities in these sort of films? Why they don't just run like fuck.

  • @Aztec35361 Best summation of Fulci movies ever!

  • I've watched this movie umpteen times and never get bored of it.This and Zombie Flesh-Eaters (the UK title for Zombi 2) are my fave Fulci flix.

  • That's one hell of a hot woman. Was she in The Beyond?

  • @tomodrum yes she is. her name is catriona mccall. and she is really damn hot

  • never seen this one but i own Zombi 2 and from this trailer the zombie effects look horrible the ones in zombi 2 are the best ive ever seen tho. isnt this movie also titled hell of the living dead?

  • @vansrok1 acutually hell of the living dead is a different movie that rips off Dawn of the dead in every way. it even steals the music and sceans from it.

  • @ROTLDzombi oh ha thanks man, all the italian zombie movies are way confusing in the way that they all have so many different titles and rip off other movies like zombi 2 and zombi (dawn of the dead)

  • @ROTLDzombi oh ha thanks man, all the italian zombie movies are way confusing in the way that they all have so many different titles and rip off other movies like zombi 2 and zombi (dawn of the dead)

  • Drill baby drill!

  • @TheFuzzyfuz shame on you LOL!!

  • the beyond was much better

  • That Movie Is A Horror Classic....Weird & Scary ..Another Lucio Fuci's Masterpiece

  • It takes a lot for horror movies to actually creep me out, but this is one of the few that did. That is one pissed off priest!

  • The ending of City Of The Living Dead AKA The Gates of Hell, still is creepy and you have to figure out what actually happens. One of many of Lucio Fulci's best movies.

  • Classic Fulci, and for sheer unrelenting morbid atmosphere, none tops this one!

  • A lot will disagree, but I find this to be his best film. Even over The Beyond and Zombi 2.

  • @BladeAndStick I agree.

  • Coming to Blu-Ray May 25!!! Woo hoo

  • Yup - it's getting a U.S. blu-ray release in May from Blue Underground and a U.K. blu release through Arrow around that time

  • @ProZacDose Big fucking deal. Blu ray has a long way to go before they catch up with all the underground movies I like.

  • lol

  • what a nightmare...

  • gotta love the 80's for their cheesy special effects

  • @kickiniitbak Its a fucking movie. If you want reality be an ambulance driver and go scrape dead bodies off the side of the ride. Fulci uses horror to tell stories its not about realism.

  • first off who said that cheesy special effects was a bad thing. and by ambulance driver you mean paramedic and also that would be a coroner who attends to dead bodies on the scene, not paramedic. so before you get all hyped up in your tree, understand what i'm trying to say first.

  • This is probably my favourite Fulci horror movie, nice to see the Italian trailer.I've heard this is getting a new DVD/Blu-ray release in the UK next year.

  • Indeed it is! Arrow films will be releasing this title shortly.

  • This is one of Fulci's better horror attempts.

  • Italian horror, about 20 years ahead of its time

  • @Silvertrine actually it fits quite good in 1980, horror movies suck now

  • I saw this movie years ago but it was under a different title "Gates of Hell " I believe, really scary!

  • love love this

    movie. the

    atmosphere of italian horror! Argento

    Fulci

  • This movie gave me the creeps when I was 8. Bunch of memories!!!

  • frayeurs!!!!

  • Aw shit dude I remember watching this when i was ten with my older cousins cuz we were into zombie movies at the time and this brings back memories...and not the good kind

  • woah... that guys got one helluva GRIP!!! 1:10

  • brilliant film.. scary even the music...

  • No movie can ever get me terrified, i love gory movies, and possesion movies, but this one got the balls,

Shit, the scene were the girl pukes out the stomach, OMG! I thinked abount the scene a whole week!

    Great Movie, awesome!

  • i have never seen this moive but i am guessing you shouldn't watch this right before you got bed

  • 2:21

    Fucking scary.

  • THAT GAVE BLOODY NIGHTMARES FUUUUUCK!!

    RIP Lucio Fulci

He will come back alive and summon the DEAD!!

  • Thats Amore!!!!

  • wow

  • I think this is one of Lucio Fulci best films along with The New York Ripper

  • Awesome ass shit... i want a subtitled ver or dubbed one

  • The US version of this movie with them speaking english is called Gates of Hell. I had this movie about 21 years ago and it is still one of the best.

  • i like this low -budget special effect even more that the ones on the actual movies, but the best work of this come frome Tom Savini

  • Comment removed

  • "What was that noise?".

"That would be your Father being murdered".

  • I have this film This is the only zombie film I enjoy and gives me a creepy feeling. The others I see besides Night of the living dead the first one all of the zombie films are comedic and not scary to me only a select few. And this is one of them! I get very picky when it comes to Zombie, Gore, Splatter and horror.

  • Italy has been a powerhouse of gore films for years, and the FX of Lucio

    Fulci's makeup\fx man Gianetto Di

Rossi, though on a shoestring budget, were VERY inventive.

This guy was a prime example of what could be done with a piece of string, a wad of cewing gum, and a whole lot of heart. These FX could easily rival those of some of today's films.

Italian zombies are very disturbing, and I like em' that way :)

  • I agree I wish people make these kinds of films like they use to. This film has a rawness that films today don't have. All of the computer graphics now a days make it look fake. Fulci and his make up man are one of the gods of horror and no one today can live up to them. Because the guys who make up films to day are missing what Fulci had and the others during those times. Only a few today can master what people did in the past. People forget about the grandfathers of horror and it's sad.

  • Awesome

  • one of thecreepiest movies ive ever seen

  • Fulci is a genious

  • Indeed...master of the zombie film. He and Romero and a host of lesser known Italians made magic in the 70's and early 80's

  • This is one of my favorite horror movies!!!

  • Didn't think much of this movie, was a bit of a mess! The script writer must have had Alzheimers. check this link out a proper zombie movie at last! thedead-movie official trailer

  • yeah im a fan of fulci....

but did not feel this one so much.....

thanks for the link, looks promising

  • That scene when the boy saw his dead sister through the window gave me nightmares for weeks when I was young.

  • uuuuuuta won !!!!!!!! este cine es de culto! la cago!!!! la raja!!!!!1... pa los que es les gusta la honda esta, les recomiendo "la chiesa" ("la catedral" o "the church") que es otra joyita del gore.....

  • I remember seeing this in the theatre & I just picked it up on dvd! Sick!

  • one of the Top 5 Zombie movies ever!

  • This is awesome! Check out Randall Cooksey's Zombie-O-Rama on YouTube.

  • i have seen this one when i was in high school. during that time I love zombie films. Big fan of the night of the living dead (original and remake) and I thought this was a sequel, so I rented it and I was not dissapointed. this film is gory. full of blood and guts...

  • one of the best horror movies ther is made

  • This fulci customer is one sick dude,i`ve only seen three of his films and there good and crap at the same time. The gore and violence is crazy and very good, but i don`t know what hell is going on.

  • never seen his stuff but it is the same way i feel about dario argento...sick stuff...

  • My mom bought this movie on vhs and I actually watched it when I was like 10, but it was called "The Gates of Hell" The part where the chick throws up her insides is classic

  • the burial scene remains so anxious, the lightings used is superbly done, you can feel the suffocation, that's my favorite scene of Fulci's masterpiece,it is a bit flawed though but he was never good in plot and 'realism' if i can use that word, not one movie is realistic so ...

  • ''Its a long story, thats the whole story'' You'll understand if you have seen the movie

  • zombi 2 was good but this movie is fucken scary and am grown dude

  • this rocked but fucis best film was zombi2

  • at 1hour and 4minutes into this movie, the music sounds very similiar to the main theme in Lucio Fulci`s Zombie flesh eaters, both great movies!!

  • 1:11 BBBRRRAAAIIINNNNSSSSSSSSS

  • send more paramedics

  • one of the grossest scenes ever:

    entrail regurgitation

  • yeah... read the poor lady had to swallow a real cow intestine for that scene

  • omgg i read somewhere the actress had actually thrown up sheep entrails GROSS dude ahah

    sick movie.

  • Christopher George RIP.

  • LUCIO FULCI 4VER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ach, then fuck off, pussy!!

  • 00:37 ...hmmm :D

  • Love this movie! Favorite line of dialogue- "It looked like Emily! Only she was like,...dead! And she was eating mumie and dady!!" HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!!! Yeah I realy dig it!! Definately among my all time favorites!

  • I recently saw this and I was really excited..I was bummed ..not really what I expected.. I have to say I liked The Beyond sooo much better than this.

  • un enemigo implacabli que quiere continuamente vendetta

  • What an asshole, leaving such pretty girl to die!! Nice makeup and really scary looking movie thou.

  • no it was made on a low budget in the 70's

  • This couldn't hold a match to Demons or Phantasm!

  • lol phantasm wow demons is good but phantasm lol

  • which are the best italian supernatural horror films?

  • the beyond, suspira, the psychic, demons, zombie, the church isn't so bad...it's not great but decent enough.

  • thank you :)

  • Yah, the original DOTD is so good, best Z movie ever, yep.

  • The legend of giallo films -LUCIO FULCI!!!!!!

  • LUCIO FULCI LIVES!!!

  • fantastico!!

  • i dunno

    i like it

fulci in general doesnt give a fuck about narrative if thats your problem

but he's so masterful at atmosphere anbd pure gross out i dont care myself

  • then your not a big horror movie big boy. If you were you would recommend this movie to everyone...EVERYONE!

  • nah, your opinion sux

  • Fuck you, scum.

  • arent the older movies goryier than todays movies?

  • yes... lol todays films dont have that horror feel to them as much. and more cgi... etc.

  • Spot on, they were way more inventive in the 70's and 80's (Even the 90's) Gore, guts, blood, monsters, effects (Not computer generated stuff that just isn't good enough) Horror films nowadays just ain't up to scratch.

  • 2:24 scared me

  • i have a old vhs copy but it's called gates of hell , what is the orignal name

  • How is that original itallian title translated?

  • literally it's something like "fear in the city of the living dead"

  • and partially filmed in the hell hole that is savannah, georgia.

  • 1:21 shit that girl was smoking hot!!

  • man, i also thought so :)

  • She looks like the girl from Escape from LA, Hot Shots Part Deux, and Big Top Pee Wee

  • she is Catriona MacColl or Katherine MacColl, and was 26 year old when this movie was made :)

  • The part where the guy used the pick-axe to get the girl out of the castket really freaked me out...just when the pick went right by the side of her head.

  • I couldnt eat anything after seeing a lucio fulci movie,I couldnt eat even vegetables for pit sake.

  • I'd like to eat some of that Italian pussy mmmmm.

  • well they are very hot.

  • hellz yeah

  • Looks like a load of shite. Some sort of Johnny Foregner B-Movie.

  • Hahaha, educate yourself and watch it!

  • What you talking about, this is one dreadfull movie, mate. Utter bollocks.

I've just watched Diary of the Dead tonight, and even that was partially shite. Though the original Dawn of the Dead is fucking quality, andthe BEST Z movie ever!!

  • i got the mvie in best buy the other day and in italiano =)) great movie

  • wow i still got this movie. gorey like crazy l

  • This guy did the zombi films right?

  • Lucio Fulci was one of the best

  • hadlok di ma bang bang

  • omfg yes this movie owns im going to downlaod!

  • i have that movie itsn one of the greatest moments of horror movies ever , i love this secunce !

  • the fact that its so surreal is what makes it effective i think

it such a dirty grubby little mind fuck

....along with puking up your guts....

  • for more Zombie flicks check my page above and see the ultimate trilogy

  • Does YouTube have the excerpted scene with the lady suffocating in the coffin, struggling to get a scream out, and the guy saving her?

  • VIVA LUCIO FULCI¡¡¡¡

  • viva la rasa..........!!!

  • Fabio Frizzi music is brill. So was Fulci Zombie films.

  • The music of this trailer is very similar to Dario Argento's "Dawn of the dead" main title (by Goblins)

  • I like Fulci, but the music in his films SUCKED.

  • Fulci could screw with your head, visually, but when it came to plotlines and acting, I really think he needed to stay off the crack..........

  • And when was the last intricate, amazing horror plotline you came across.. Come on, even the best horror films dont exactly have great plotlines, they are just bloody good entertainment. The more fucked up the better. Point 2, bad acting is part of the zombie genre, especially in the 70's an 80's.

  • Hmm, I'd say just about any film has that was not directed by Fulci or Argento would have a more coherent plot. Fulci and Argento had a knack of stringing some of the most freaky visual scenes together without rhyme or reason. The cruddy dialogue and the translation loss is probably to blame more than the actors' skills here. Don't ge me wrong, this stuff is great and I love it, but it does have a few shortcomings. BTW, anyone hear when they plan to debut "The Third Mother" in the States?

  • OMG!! ROFLMFAO at 1:09!! hahaha really funny shit xD!

  • wow! i remember being so scared while and after watching this movie! my mother took me to the theater to see it around 1981 i was 6 yo...good memories, in us territories it was distributed as gates of hell

  • omfg totally trash

  • WTF this movie is Italian, but it looks like it was dubbed INTO Italian 0.o
