  • @t33ngoth just because she's not jessica alba hardly makes her ugly. people are so creepy with their weird standards of beauty for film and television. s'fucked up, yo

  • @rocklikeluda im not saying she's ugly because she doesn't look like jessica alba. she's ugly because she's ugly

  • I can't believe that people think that he's called Johnny on here. WATCH THE FUCKING MOVIE YOU TWERPS.

  • FACT: the two words "here's johnny !" were UNSCRIPTED and jack nicholson ADDED THEM ON THE SPOT.

thumbs up so that every1 can see this !

  • @DADDYnick007 jack nicholson is awesome!

  • @HeiHolaHello :) hell yeaaaa

  • @DADDYnick007 wow I did not know that, I actually went to IMDB to verify your claim. Thats amazing..Kinda amazing how that happened. Just randomly said it..then it ended up being the biggest best scene in the movie and people still remember that to this day.

  • @DADDYnick007

Like Rutger Hauer said "Like tears in rain" on the spot in Blade Runner.

  • How thick was that fucking door?

  • @MisterAnimann They had a fake door at first but Nicholson was tearing it apart too quickly so they ended up using a real door.

  • heressss jonnyyyyyy

  • -.- bitxh you could've been kicking out a window or some shix with all that damn screaming

  • greatest horror movie scene ever

  • Press 8 for the almighty quote!

  • I wonder how many doors they must have destroy to make this scene

  • @dawid19900 I've read somewhere that they had do destroy like a hundred doors to get this scene right.

  • 1:07

  • She's sooooo wierd looking

  • She should have said: JOHNNY, LA GENTE ESTA MUY LOCA.... *His face in the door* WHAT THE FUCK?

  • She is such an amazing actress!

  • @GetHenchOrDieTryn After being verbally abused by Kubrick, of course she is! xD

  • what a scene

  • @paparodius no why he got insane.....

  • that's some ugly woman

  • Dude.... Jack is awesome... But that actress sucks ass. WTF, even a drowned rat could act better o.o'

  • I like the psycho demeanor of Jack. He's great when he plays insane.

  • Thumbs up if you thought the mum is even scarier than the whole film!

  • Why does everyone think Shelley Duvall is ugly? I don't think she's ugly at all. And besides, I'm a sensible human being and I don't just judge people based on their looks.

  • @minamu8 Because they think women are all about boobs & ass, when Shelley DuVall looks like a real woman.

  • She needs to die, because of the way shes holding the knife

  • i love the face he makes at 0:14

  • "What is in room 237?"

  • wow she is soooooo ugly DX

  • 1 person got an axe through their bathroom door!

  • shes so ugly i'd kill her to

  • Comment removed

  • the actress who played wendy may seem creepy in terms of appearance, but her acting was amazing.

  • the girl looks creepier than johnny :/

  • @jackaboonie LMFAOOOOOOO dude so true

  • @jackaboonie his name is actually Jack in the movie : P haha

  • I would have broken that door down all the way, lifted the axe at full height, then swung it down at full force so that it split with a loud SPLAT the head of screaming lady. Dark, red blood would spurt like a fire hydrant in all directions, soiling the walls, mirrors, bathtub, and my clothes with an odd pinkish color and a coppery smell. And I would stand, letting loose from my throat a wall-shaking, ear-piercing laugh, as I stood with joy over the dead bloodied carcas of my most recent kill.

  • ggggggrrrrrrrrrooooooooooosssssssssssssssssss

  • in HD i can see the real meaning of terror in the bright white glow in wendy's eyes.... there's nothing you can do..... HERE'S JOHNNY

  • press the 8 :D

  • i imagine there were times when shelley duvall was frightened while making this movie. she probably was thinking, "jack plays the part very well. maybe TOO well. hopefully he won't forget the fact that he's just acting. he IS just acting, isn't he??"

  • AÚN... HAY MÁS!!!!... DO'H!

  • HERE'S JOHNNY!

  • Seeing Wendy scream in terror as the axe is slowly making its way through the door sent shivers down my spine. Shelley Duvall gets a lot of shit for her performance in this film but I think it is spot on. And Jack.... well Jack is just utterly insane and terrifying. A masterpiece of a film.

And wow, just amazing quality as well. Outstanding quality! Great upload.

  • @seanwilson556 yea, shelley did fine. i imagine there were times when shelley duvall was frightened while making this movie. she probably was thinking, "jack plays the part very well. maybe TOO well. hopefully he won't forget the fact that he's just acting. he IS just acting, isn't he??" you said "it is spot on". those are interesting words. i don't recall that phrase except when someone has an english accent. i would likely say, "it hits the spot".

  • @coventrygardens Yeah people also give Jack Nicholson a lot of shit "for being Jack" but I completely forget I'm watching Nicholson when I watch this! I'm from Scotland so "spot on" is a lot more common than "hits the spot" where I live!

  • @seanwilson556 i don't think i've heard anyone say that jack gave a bad performance. some people have pointed out that he didn't do it the way the novel had him, but most said they were glad that he deviated from the novel. i guess kubrick is the 1 who decided that the movie should be significantly different from the novel. i like both the movie and the novel./// i knew the english said it that way, but i didn't know about scotland. my family left eng- & scot- during the colonial era.

  • @coventrygardens On the IMDb boards a lot of people think Jack is "just being Jack" in the film and is too cheesy. I disagree big time with that. Kubrick pretty much gave Nicholson his best performance. I'm not interested in reading the novel because Kubrick's film version is much more mysterious and surreal. Scotland say a lot of things differently we could say we are "special" in our own way! ha

  • @seanwilson556 the 1997 miniseries of "the shining" was more like the novel. the movie with nicholson made jack torrance seem creepy right from the beginning. i like both versions. it's ridiculous when the trailers say that the movie was based on the novel. the trailers should say that the movie was VERY LOOSELY based on the novel. i visited england and scotland, and i drove a rental car. i was surprised that there was no sort of border-crossing guards between the 2.

  • omg 1. i have no idea why any body thinks her acting is bad. it's brilliant and beleivable and 2. shes not ugly. shelley duvall is very beautiful to me

  • @lala102197 i think shelley did a fine job, just as jack did. i imagine there were times when shelley duvall was frightened while making this movie. she probably was thinking, "jack plays the part very well. maybe TOO well. hopefully he won't forget the fact that he's just acting. he IS just acting, isn't he??"

  • C'mon Jack, why did you press the dislike button :/

  • Whats wrong with you people! Her acting is brilliant! Her reaction when the axe head comes through all the way is great.

  • Shelley Duvall's acting is so bad! Like a mexican soap opera...

No wonder she got the award of worst female performance of that year.

  • @cavalier2305 i think kubrick intended for her to act that way. i'm sure she could have acted differently if kubrick had told her too. i like her acting.

  • @coventrygardens

Is TOO over the top, her face, her screams, very exaggerated

  • @cavalier2305 i think kubrick liked all that screaming. if he hadn't liked it, he could have done some editing without going through the trouble of getting a different actress or having duvall re-do it. the screams and her face added to the comedy. i see this as both a comedy and a horror movie. though some of the characters ( especially wendy ) were often terrified, i think many scenes were designed to amuse ( not frighten ) the audience. jack's funny statements are examples of the comedy.

  • wendy's face is ugly enough to be axed xD

i wonder, jack wouldnt be so crazy if his wife wasnt so ugly,,,,, i mean,,, lookin at an irritating wife, with ugly teeth, would make ME 'go grab and axe' !!!

    xDDDD

  • @haileybmize take a hike!

  • HERE'S JHONNY!

  • her face is worth more than Taylor Swift's when she sees kanye

  • for all those people who are asking stupid questions WATCH THE WHOLE DAM MOVIE AND YOU WILL SEE. like this question i saw ( stupid whore why didnt she go out the window) it was in the movie she tried to and iit was to small. last one ( go shes screamin like a bitch try to escape) ok people think you all would be sceard ifs a pyhco was coming at you with a fucking axe thank you all for your time

  • So, why did L.A. Joan hook up with this psycho?

  • i need to do this before i die

  • i dont know why but i started to laugh ..funny scene

  • A brilliant scene. So much time has been spent in film and literature exploring the subconscious fear men have of women...It was about time for a director to take a . look at the fear that women have of men, even the fear of those they love and trust. Think about it. Women are trapped, 24/7, in a world run and dominated by creatures that are bigger, stronger and often very ill-tempered. This is what happens when they are also stark raving mad...

  • @DarrylXE by the way i ment to click like but accidently click dislike sorry : /

  • @DarrylXE Lol, what?

  • @DarrylXE Steven King thought of it first though, so he should be the one receiving most of the credit. But for a director, yeah I see your point.

  • @guilemaster147

You're right. But I think the intimidating power of even bumbling, out-of-shape men is made crystal clear here in a way the book didn't. But both men are, in their own ways, geniuses.

  • @DarrylXE

HURR DURR FEMALES ARE NOT RESPECTED WE'RE LIVING IN A MANS WURLD ITS NOT FAIR HURR DURR. Seriously shut the fuck up. My uncle never gets to see his children because of the sexist bias towards mothers in court. His wife sat on her ass and still gets half of what he owns. He is now poor and living in a rundown apartment building. Meanwhile, his wife lives in the house he bought. World run by men my ass.

  • @Tike092

First of all, I'm proud of you for the progress you're making at the school for slow children. Pretty soon, you'll be let out to work as the janitor at the county farm. Good work!

I would respond with statistics and logic and the simple observation that my statement was a GENERAL one about gender throughout the world and not just in your uncle's court case, but that would only work if you had a culturally literate brain that was working at peak efficiency, which yours clearly is not.

  • @DarrylXE Haha, making fun of mentally deficient people, that's hilarious. Almost hilarious as the fact that although men do on average earn more than women working at the same job, men are required to sign up for the draft. To get the same privileges as women, men would have to suffer a $250,000 fine. What's also hilarious is your stating the fact that my brain is culturally illiterate. In Western Culture, men are always inclined to pay for drinks, dinners, and dates. These are examples.

  • @Tike092

As part of your course work at the school for slow children, I encourage you to look up the definitions of the following words: "relevant," "cogent," "digression," and "argument." Also, try reading a formal definition of "cultural literacy." You might get extra credit! Keep trying!

  • @DarrylXE More insults, even less examples. My examples were completely "relevant" to the "argument", I did not "digress" from the "argument", and I find it ironic that you mention "cultural literacy" when it's formal definition is to "understand the contributions and perspectives of different culture groups", which you seem to understand even less than the fact that it isn't generally accepted to make fun of "slow children", one of which happens to be my brother.

  • @Tike092

You poor thing. What are you learning at that school! The man in the mirror is YOU, not your brother.

  • @DarrylXE Absolutely pathetic. You have shown me that feminism is nothing but a philosophy for Omega Women who need something that makes them feel good about themselves. Good luck with your bullshit philosophy and never finding a man who can deal with it.

  • @Tike092

Um, okay. I'll just say this: if your "uncle"/molester is anywhere near the rage-addicted, slow witted woman-hater that you are, I can see why he is where he is. You will probably join him there some day.

  • Darth Vader: Where is the rebel base ?

    Press 2 for the answer.

  • SPAM "8" on your keyboard

  • 'Little pigs, little pigs.. let me come in'.

  • FARMER JACK!

  • I love the second time he says "little piggs" <33

  • When his head came through the door, i would have cut his face and not his hand

  • @JustinGirlyGirl i don't think he stuck his head far enough in for her to reach him easily.

  • i love how she just haoppens to have a freaking machete in the bathroom

  • @poposike She brought it in there from a previous scene.

  • @poposike she had that thir all ready i dont remember when have not seen the movie in a long time

  • @AlphaOmegaFan100 danny was using that knife to cut his finger so he could use his blood for to write "redrum". wendy grabbed the knife from him, and she took it with her, and then jack started smashing the door, and then wendy took the knife with her into the bathroom, and then jack started smashing the bathroom door.

  • Jack Nicholson's performance in this film is outstanding. As a 14 year old boy I can honestly say I've never seen a main character in a horror film played so brilliantly. All hail the GOD that is Jack Nicholson!

  • As soon as his head came through the door i would have drop kicked him. Great scene especially the way the axe is symbolically chopping through her when it crashes through the door. Duvall does overact but so does Jack in the second half of the film. It was a purposeful decision to use all the takes that were overacted, the actors had no idea those takes would be used. kubrick apparently used them to show the unrealism of the scenes. It feels more like a nightmare when people react strangely.

  • Press 8 to get to the good part.

  • lmfao xD one of King's greatest ;)

  • For Blazblue fans, remember the "Help me Professor Kokonoe" with Hazama?

  • Best line ever in horror cinema, even scarier than "They're here!" from Poltergeist

  • Check out 'The Shining - DIY horror' for the best shining spoof ever...

  • at ariound 1:16 pause it with SUPER precision and the cut heals in like 1 milisec. This guy is hillarious, and has magic invincibility :O

  • love Jack, great actor!

  • if you hate johnny press 9 very fast

  • yeah Domestic Violence is not funny... well unless Shelly Duval's acting is THAT horrible.(not this scene but the movie)

  • Who has read comic Johnny the Homicidal Maniac? This reminds me of Nny a little too mutch. :p

  • I wonder how many doors they went through before they got it right.

  • @MonacoBlast

They want through alot. The doors prior to this one were way weaker & Jack Nicholson destroyed them with one or two swings of the Ax. Jack Nicholson was a trained Firefighter volunteer so this door needed to be custom made to make it that much harder to him destroy.

  • @MonacoBlast

I heard they needed about 200 tries to get this scene done

  • @MonacoBlast johnny must be tired :|

  • Don't know why, but when he says, " hereeee'sss Johnnnyyy." I just can't stop laughing. XD

  • 1:15 LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
