  • Shaq the greatest

  • That collection of basketball legends must've blown the epicness scale a mile high into the sky.

  • What is Willis Reed doing there when he wasn't in the commercial?

  • @Vstrat0,Chamberlain was a stat filler.Out of his career, he only won 1 ring as the man & the other as a follower.Really great,I said that sarcastically.U do realize the rules back than were different. The games were played at a much higher tempo & not a lot of fouls were called.I'll take Dream anyday over Wilt.Wow your talking about regular season?Look at their playoff totals.Look who steps up their game and who didn't.

Chamberlain WOULDN'T be as dominate if he played in the 80-90's.

  • @EmperorJBO He won two actually, he was the captain of the Lakers during the pivotal season of 1972, also he was the MVP in 1967.

  • What is Bill Walton doing with those goats alone?

  • Why did Bill say he was about to throw up? 0:38

  • R.I.P Wilt Chamberlain

  • A HEALTHY Bill Walton could run rings around Shaq. Compare what Walton did in college to what Shaq did. Walton was one of the best centers EVER!

  • Russell was the greatest. You can't argue with 11 titles in 13 years.

  • ya you can.

back then the NBA featured centers that were on average 6'7". He had great teammates his whole career like cousy havlicek. Not to mention Good teammates like Jo Jo white Sam Jones Satch Sanders. Bill Russell was great no doubt.

On top of all that, there were only like 12 teams back then.

  • The average height of centers during Russell's days was 6'10". The average power forward was 6'8".

Walter Dukes (7') Archie Dees (6'8")

Bailey Howell (6'7") Dolph Schayes (6,8")

Elvin Hayes (6'9") Willis Reed (6'10")

Reggie Harding (7') Walt Bellamy (6'11")

Nate Thurmond (6'11") Neal Walk (6'10")

Elmore Smith (7'1") Harvey Halbrook (7'3")

Tom Boerwinkle (7') Bob Christian (7')

Wes Unseld (6'7") Clifford Ray (6'11")

Daryl Imhoff (6'10") Phil Jordon (6'10")

  • Not only is everthing you said backed by absolutely no sources, but Elmore Smith I know did not play in Russels time and Elvin hayes, Tom Boerwinkle played only one season with him.

  • So it appears then that "Russell's days" are subjective? You might wanna try being more specific next time.

    He played from 1956-1969.

I forgot that Smith and Christian competed against Wilt and not Russell. The rest are right.

When Russell first joined the league, there were 8 teams. By the time he retired, there were 14. In both cases it would make the percentage of very talented players much higher.

You may as well have said that Russell's competition were all just 5 foot tall white guys.

  • wow 8 teams is even more lame than i thought, that's no competition. And ya his days woudl be when he played, sorry if you couldn't figure that out and you thought "Russell's days" meant the day water tastes like lemon lime soda. Plus you can't deny his great teammates.

Either way he's atop the top as far as feats on paper are concerned, but as far as being the most skilled, most dominant pysically, the best Center ever to play, that would have to be Shaq.

  • Again, the smaller the league, the more talented each team was.

The Celtics had a superior coach in Red Auerbach. The man was decades ahead of his peers. As was Russell, who studied physics to help himself become a better defender.

Someone like you has no business talking here since:

You think there were 12 teams. Wrong.

You think the average height of centers was 6'7". Wrong.

You're insinuating that Russell only won many titles because of his teammates and a lack of competition. Wrong.

  • WRONG, the Smaller the league because back then basketball wasn't anywhere near as popular as it is today, there was overall LESS talent all together. Did you know back in 1983 the NBA Finals were broadcasted AFTER the local news on recording, that's who popular NBA was back in 83! imagine the popularity in the 60's!??

Now you concede Red played a part, i See

12 teams is right between 8 and 14 i don't know what math you're doing

You gave a list of SOME 7fters, but that's still not av height

  • Stay in your cubicle BOB and do us all a favor. YOU KNOW DICK!!!

  • Russell was the PLAYER COACH his last 3 years and won 2 championships. The 1969 Celtics finished only 48-34 in the regular season finishing 4th and still won the championship behind PLAYER COACH BILL RUSSELL. They said the Celtics were too old and over the hill but when playoff time came around Russell and the Celtics proved what A GREAT TEAM they were TOGETHER. Led by Bill Russell.

  • @cubicleBOB,Shaq skilled?

    WHAAAATTTT?!

    HELL NO.

The fat overrated fucker can't even make a free throw to save his life.

Shaq was able to get most of his point because of his size nothing else.

WIlt had way more skills than shaq.

Kareem had way more skills than Shaq.

Olajuwon had way more skills than all of them!

  • @EmperorJBO You best be trollin with saying Shaq wasn't skilled. I'm sure someone would be skilled if they were 3rd all time in PER, lead in FG% 10 times which is more times than Wilt, and 5th all time in points despite his horrible FT% along with many other accolades. I'm not saying that Shaq was better than Wilt, Kareem, and Olajuwon overall, but you can't deny that he's one of the G.O.A.T and one of the Top 5 Centers of all time. BTW, how come other centers his size couldn't be as dominate?

  • That crap doesn't matter Russell and Chamberlain achievements are the greatest of all time.

  • Russell made them better. The same way he made U.S.F. better and won the last 55 games he played there and 2 National Championships.

  • @bconnan,11 titles with how many hall of famers?

    Olajuwon would dominate him.

  • @bconnan Titles aren't everything. Sasha Vujachic has 2 rings more than Patrick Ewing. Pat Ewing has 0
