Game Gear is better then the Game Boy for the money you paid for it; at the time, it was the most successful competitor to the Game Boy and manage to achieve its sales by pushing the Lynx and Express out of the market. It had a backlit colour screen, you could buy a TV Tuner, Car Gear Adapter, Cases, a Link Cable and a Charger for it, plus a screen magnifier. It had a good variety of games for it too. It was well worth the $150 it cost when new.

Actually, the Game Gear had a big ass battery pack that you put on the back of the Game Gear and then the battery life is a little longer. Still the battery life on the Game Gear really pissed me off.

Yep just bought a game gear! It's almost impossible to find one for sale in good condition in Australia these days. Apparently also, the power chord for the mega drive or master system is interchangeable with the game gear.

Dude.. The N-gage wasn't so complicated. It had many buttons but only 2 were used in most games. The extra buttons came in handy in strategy games like pathway to glory. BTW N-gage could emulate Megadrive. ;)

Great review. I wish you would have mentioned the Sega Master System adapter for the Game Gear. It gave the Game Gear a much larger library to choose from.
Ok, first of all. The Game Boy was released in 1989 and there were virtually no hardware changes in between it's first release and the GBA. The game boy color had a color screen.... that's it every thing else is the same.
I loved my Game Gear, and played it all the way up untill about 2003 when I got the GBA-SP. It's a grate system allso and a huge step up from the GB
The original GameBoy was horrible in my opinion, the mucky yellow-green visuals on the games were really bad to look at. Sure, some games were fun despite the terrible colours on the screen but in general, the Game Gear owned the GameBoy. Gameboy Advance is pretty awesome though.
Nice vid. I'd love to see a Nomad review, and both the Game Gear & Nomad would run nicely with some 2900-mAh AA batteries that are out now. 10+ hours playtime is finally available for these units.
I had Game Boy, Game Gear, & the Nomad in the 1990s and would've preferred the Nomad if the Genesis/Mega Drive actually had a decent number of RPGs (& other varieties of games that were on Game Boy) other than the Phantasy Star & the Shining series.

Game Boy sold well in almost all places, Nintendo screwed up with their home consoles in Europe, but not the portable ones.

Yep just bought a game gear! It's almost impossible to find one for sale in good condition in Australia these days. Apparently also, the power chord for the mega drive or master system is interchangeable with the game gear.

3 reasons the game gear failed
1- it was toooooooooooooooo big
2- it needed 6 batteries
3- the batteries only lasted like 2 hours

Dude.. The N-gage wasn't so complicated. It had many buttons but only 2 were used in most games. The extra buttons came in handy in strategy games like pathway to glory. BTW N-gage could emulate Megadrive. ;)

it's true that the GameGear wasn't has big as nintendo:GAME BOY, but ?......i can o,greed with you that game gear didn't last in the market axe'll did lasted little longer in market because of popularity of Sonic and some of the games you seen on SEGA GENESIS wore-on the handheld but im not saying it was bigger seller din game boy, of cores GB, was's the good seller because of want you said in the video.

Man, I didn't didn't like Sonic 1,2, or Spinball on GG since I think the Genesis one was better. . They were much harder though, Sonic 2 introduced the water skipping. I like Sonic Drift,Triple Trouble,Chaos(yes I found some fun). I also didn't like the GG version of DRMBM because the screehy sounds.<_<" No offense to GG fans but I'm too used to the Genesis.

I had a Sega Gamegear, it sucked. It ran out of batteries FAST. I also had a gameboy and that's what I played the most out of all of my handhelds.

Great review. I wish you would have mentioned the Sega Master System adapter for the Game Gear. It gave the Game Gear a much larger library to choose from.

Ok, first of all. The Game Boy was released in 1989 and there were virtually no hardware changes in between it's first release and the GBA. The game boy color had a color screen.... that's it every thing else is the same.
I loved my Game Gear, and played it all the way up untill about 2003 when I got the GBA-SP. It's a grate system allso and a huge step up from the GB

The original GameBoy was horrible in my opinion, the mucky yellow-green visuals on the games were really bad to look at. Sure, some games were fun despite the terrible colours on the screen but in general, the Game Gear owned the GameBoy. Gameboy Advance is pretty awesome though.

Nice vid. I'd love to see a Nomad review, and both the Game Gear & Nomad would run nicely with some 2900-mAh AA batteries that are out now. 10+ hours playtime is finally available for these units.
I had Game Boy, Game Gear, & the Nomad in the 1990s and would've preferred the Nomad if the Genesis/Mega Drive actually had a decent number of RPGs (& other varieties of games that were on Game Boy) other than the Phantasy Star & the Shining series.
