Any overheating issues while gaming can be solved by adjusting cpu use to 99%, look for power options and just follow the instructions. Even for games it doesn't negatively affect performance and it'll cool down some 10 degrees celcius and calm down your fan.

I've updated everything I can, and I'm not keen on opening the laptop. I STRONGLY recommend not purchasing this laptop. Hopefully I'll be able to get a full refund.

Had no problems yet and I've owned it since November 2010. Yes it runs hot while gaming (such as Call of Duty: World at War), very hot actually, but that's what you get for having a kick ass laptop with high performance hardware in it. I agree the cooling on it isn't the best out there.

Ok I got this for 999 ( AUS ) , it came with the beats audio and it has 750 gig of memory . Pretty gud but the noise is kina bad and I'm scared of overheating.

@broadwayxdude06 - I'm no expert, but I think that the DV6 has a better graphics card. That will help if you plan on doing any sort of gaming or hd video watching. That's what I've figured, I've yet to test either out. Maybe you should try going to a site like walmart.com, finding the two laptops, and then comparing the two. Or just look up reviews on sitec like laptopmag or pcworld. Hope that helps.

@TheDJGabizz i'm giving back mine the dv6-6170sl awesome performance on all programs and no blocking but soooooooooo noisy, damn!!! god only knows how i hate the noise coming from the fans and the hard disks specially when i do autocad and 3d max on the library with my friends...this pc is superior to almost everything now excepts for lenovos but if you want to buy it should know this noisyyyy!! maybe i got a bad one, i don't know...

I'm not worrying about the overheating. Mine DV6 won't overheat ever again. I brought a fan and glued it under the hard drive(Hard drive is the thing that overheats(I guess)).
@rajinirulez i have had this computer the real problems compared to my sister who has the mac book pro is simple windows to mac os is personal prefence and of course battery life i get 5 hours if im lucky she gets ten on the other hand i payed about 500 less and got a fast cp and a more memory. also i got rid of the terrible hp doc and got rocket doc and it runs amazing serously great cp also no back light keyboard which i thought would be a problem but to behonest it really isnt
@superfrictionburn i would rate it a 10.its keyboard is comfortable it has good graphics and its portable.it comes with netflix hulu and rhapsody movie entertainment.

From all the hp's we've had over the years only one was bad, and we think it was because of the AMD-processor (no offence, AMD)

@TheDJGabizz i'm giving back mine the dv6-6170sl awesome performance on all programs and no blocking but soooooooooo noisy, damn!!! god only knows how i hate the noise coming from the fans and the hard disks specially when i do autocad and 3d max on the library with my friends...this pc is superior to almost everything now excepts for lenovos but if you want to buy it should know this noisyyyy!! maybe i got a bad one, i don't know...

Hey, I'm a college student and I'm looking for a laptop that's not overpriced, but not cheap either, so that's what drew me to the HP dv6 series because they have a good price, for a very good functioning laptop and a nice style factor also, but I was wondering which laptop is better (I basically do all my note-taking and school functions through my computer) Should I get the HP dv6z or the HP dv6t? which one is better?

I'm not worrying about the overheating. Mine DV6 won't overheat ever again. I brought a fan and glued it under the hard drive(Hard drive is the thing that overheats(I guess)).

@rajinirulez i have had this computer the real problems compared to my sister who has the mac book pro is simple windows to mac os is personal prefence and of course battery life i get 5 hours if im lucky she gets ten on the other hand i payed about 500 less and got a fast cp and a more memory. also i got rid of the terrible hp doc and got rocket doc and it runs amazing serously great cp also no back light keyboard which i thought would be a problem but to behonest it really isnt

you guys are wrong my cousin who is 10 has this laptop and thinks its as easy as possible even the touch pad is great you losers. i have the exact laptop and it works great if you want a good laptop for recreation but not as good for proffeionality like the 1 or 2 tousand dollar laptops

The mouse pad is so shitty and retarted, I just got it today and already have much difficulties using the left and right click because its all connected together with the mouse pad, so the mouse pad works on the left and right clicks! In my opinion, thats just retarted!

I have this computer 3 weaks and the painting in some places just fell off. (0:44)
The box that the HP company made is SH!T, the laptop looks like it's 3 years old beacause of the bad quality of the painting and the left speaker fell out because of the sh!ty glue that they use. My old laptop whitch I have 4 years looks newer because of the bad quility of the painting! The HP company has to think about there products quality befoure they start selling them, unless they want to lose customers :(
