Cool Post, that takes me right back, you'd wonder how the fuck you where still alive the screen got that busy, shooting the shit out of stuff at it's best
damn i loved this game. I imported it from japan when it came out. I think i was in 8th or 9th grade and I had to file out the sides of my console port so the japanese cartridge would fit in my genesis.
This was my fav game and one of my 1st games i owned on Genesis when i was a kid... To bad my mom gave it away now its worth alot of money. But this is trully one of the best games EVERY. I hope they bring it out on a new gen console! I would buy it on a heartbeat!
I think above all, to honour this very important Genesis game, a modern Metal band should cover ALL the tracks from this game. I have the all downloaded by name if anyone wants to take up the challenge!
The sequel to this game, which was on Sega CD and had CD sound, had worse music... Not that it's surprising, this is probably the best video game soundtrack of all time, and it's on the damn Genesis, not really known for its sound capabilities.
Thunder Force IV & that D&D game have some amazing tracks too, though.
man im so glad i didn't jump up to buy this cart couple months ago. because really, its nice to have the game (it was the japanese version mint) but its a novelty item. just got it on virtual console and man playin the heck out of it.
Oh sweet crap... now I can finally get it on the Virtual Console. Makes me feel like pulling out Space MegaForce and Blazing Lasers for another go-round.
There's a nice exploit at the end if you stand slightly off center. Then you can just shoot without dodging the skulls and it even works on hard difficulty. (The skulls miss both you and the little shooting guys, absurd as it may look. A similar technique is also useful on the final boss to dodge the balls.)
i have just purchased this extremely rare game for $250. I will let you all know what I think of it. And my word shall be law on this matter, my opinion counts...yours doesn't!
The best shooter game along side The Guardian legend in my book I had this on Sega genesis and I don't know what the hell happen to it but i was never able to find it again.
Toshiaki Sakoda composed the music for Solid Runner, a Sci-Fi RPG released on the SNES in 1997 in Japan only, Treasure Hunter G, a RPG for the SNES in 1996 which is also another Japan only release. After he left Compile, he worked at STING Co. Ltd. for a few years. I do not know if he still works there now.
I love this game. I really can't believe compile didn't keep making newer versions of this game related to this one. This version is by far the best at least in my opinion it is..
I remember looking at the box at the rental store, and it said "FIGHT A BOSS THAT 20 SCREENS LONG!" and I'm like "Shoot! Why not!?" and I was hooked. At the time, for my brother and I, it was like the closest to being in a Veritech. So many bullets and missiles flying around, and great music!
Then the rental store closed, and it took me almost a decade to find the game again. That's why Funcoland was beautiful, and emulators became my friend. Old games don't deserve to be forgotten!
One of the few shooters that pulls off a good metal/rock soundtrack, but that's to be expected from Compile. Plays great as well, a bit easy & short though. It was an early game on a small cart.
great game small and early seem to be no excuse graphics and sound wise one of the finest genesis game maybe tf 4 is a tad better, man those dudes had intentions with the fucking md pulling some smei metal out of it.
i bought this game when it first came out. i remember watching the opening a gazillion times. it had a great opening for those times. the gameplay was sweet too.
I remember buying this game on a whim. More raw than Gaires and the vertical equal to "Thunder Force 3". The level where you could look down into the cavern as enemies were flying up was amazing, you would see them fall back down as you killed them. I loved this game!
This was a game that proved to people that the Genesis could pump out some good music. The game was awesome in all aspects, I regret that I sold my copy.
I know what you mean, I had a copy as well but I practically gave it away together with the system and at least 10 other games to some cousins of mine once I bought the SONY PS back in '97... what a mistake, lately I found out original M.U.S.H.A. cartridges sell for up to $300 on Ebay. D'Oh!!!
Musha Aleste FTW!! This game is amazing. I found it for $5 at a flee market when i was 12, and fell in love with it. Greatest $5 purchase i could have made !! Toaplan made some awesome games !! (later remnents memebers became CAVE -no wonder) Besides for the great grpahics and gameplay this game obvoiusly has, the music is absolutely amazing !! .. I could listen to the soundtrack w/out playing the game. Definitely up for best Genesis soundtrack IMHO..
Actually Compile made this whose members later formed Milestone, the makers of Chaos Field, Radilgy (Radio Allergy), and Karous. Toaplan published it in Japan.
ahh ok so they were just the publishers. Thanks for clearing that up. It always gets confusing that way, and the developers aren't always that obvious. I wonder if it was "only" published completely, or some of toaplan had their hand in it?guess not..(feels like it) which parts did become cave.. MUSHA doesn't feel like it has pieces of old members in Milestone now. Prob just only a small few.
ahhh ok... cool. I could be wrong, but after some Wiki'ing, 8ing/Raizing seems like more of the style of MUSHA/Aleste than Milestone. You can tell the weapon styles, in game music, and sprites. Very interesting. Especially in games like Shippu Mahou Daisakusen.
hey u noe the codes right for your ammo. it is BBC BBC BBC up down A do this 6 to 9 times and you can power up your ammunitions from 1 bullet = to 5 bullets if i am not wrong
when i beat it on hard mode in 1990 i felt a few chest hairs pop out

I've only done the first level so far, but it's a good shooter I can tell. Not as good as Thunder Force 4 though.
I got my copy for £18 (about $30??) but the manual isn't in very good shape.
