@jeremylawrence300 all the crossfire vids i have seen with these cards have no micro stutter. I asked some1 about the hd 7970 crossfire in battlefield 3 and they said no. If AMD has solved this problem with the new gen it would be brilliant.
imo the 7950 is better than the 7970, its quite abit cheaper and its only a few fps off when it comes to perfomance, basically, the price difference isnt worth the fps difference, imo of course. still though, im gonna get these badboys in crossfire!
best bang for the buck right now is Radeon 6870's in crossfire. you can get them for less than $150 each, and they will perform better than a single 7970. And you can run it with a 650 watt power supply!
HEY, ive got an awsome idea! Lets compair next gen Radeon cards with old nvidia cards! yaaaaaahh thats it. And on a side note: Nvidias next gen cards comming out this year will SMOKE Radeon.
A galaxy gtx 580 the 3 fan one....is about 450$ and oc's. To about 870 on core and 1005 on mem. It comes to about the same as a stock 7950 at a little less price.....
i want to buy a high performance GPU ... im thinking about Gtx 570-580...6950-6970 or new ati generation 7950 7970... but ive a question... ive one monitor "19" inches... so one guy told me that i just needed 1gb of ram... is this correct? cause i can pick one Gigabyte 6950 for 230$ with 1 gb and one xfx with 2 gb and the same warranty for 290$... can someone help me? plx?
@nuggz503 they are neither great or horrible.... I'd say they are neutral...both companies (AMD & NVIDIA) come out with neutral drivers...plus it all depends on which config you have...sometimes drivers for high end cards in sli or crossfire are superior to another based on the cards...its all a guessing game sometimes with drivers :D
@TornadoTV11 it all depnds on the application/system that the cpu is paired with....for instance an apu might be used for an htpc over intel due to it being less of a hassle to get a gfx card in a small area....AS of now intel is leading the market in cpu's...clock for clock and core per core intel is more advanced...they are a billion dollar company..but that does not mean that amd is bad either...but remember AMD is a multi million dollar company and does not have the same resources as intel
@sxyphatboy Good call. I have an AMD 965 Black Edition (3.8GHZ) and it's running on air. I could push it more, but I would need to get Liquid Cooling. AMD is striving with their GPU's and APU's. However, Intel is doing fine with CPU's. AMD will catch up once Piledriver is released. In case everybody forgot, AMD was ontop when FX series came out, but Intel gained momentum with their Intel 2 Quad Core series. It's been a struggle ever since.
@MontagesnMore i just hope AMD gets their architecture right...I mean the whole module thing is sort of like hyperthreading...but not really...in paper it sound phenominal...but it doesnt perform well compared to intels architect....they need to focus on providing smaller and smaller manufacturing processes that can rival those of the new 32 and 28 nm that intel will puch out...you sir have a wonderful processor...you can get a dual 120 rad+block+pump+res+tubing for 120 if you look around
@DruSkiN666 ok ...I agree with you on that point...we all know the phenom x6 is better than the bulldozer...i was just talking about the current state of amd cpus
@MrAlexkohl1993 how the fuck am i supposed to do that without the motherboard in my hands i dont want my damn cards so close to each other i want them to get some air but whatever im getting a 4 slot anyway
What wattage power supply would i need for crossfire 7950's or 7970's? as i am thinking of buying wither one to put into an Alienware Aurora R4 which has an 875 watt power supply.
Man i love that Acura NSX ad... even though its 2 and a half minutes long... i watch it all every time... v.v
And i think ill wait for the next series of cards to upgrade my computer, if i need. Kinda want to but i got 2 hd 5870's crossfired at the moment.. and their still awesome .. dont think ill need to upgrade by next series but i kinda want to
if your paying 11 bucks for sli 580s you very dumb... chances are your fucking bought the ones with fancy fans and lights and blah blah blah go buy some refrence cards i mean i paid 900 for the 2 im runnin and is 2 fps more or a higher bench score from a SUPPER OVERCLOCKED EDITION really worth the extra 100 bucks per card?
all amd fanboys comparing a new gpu with one that was released over a year ago, get over yourselves. when nvidia comes with the 600 series i think we all know who will win ;)
@NaNd1337 What a stupid comment! I am not a fanboy of any company however the comparison of say a amd 7950 to a gtx 580 is because they are in the same price group that's why the go head to head also the simple fact like you said the new nvidia cards are not even out so what cards are suppose to get used in the bench marks???? only last gen amd cards??? Please just have a little think before you post a comment! on a side note i cant wait to see what nvidia bring to the table :)
Where did you pull that $200-$300? Checked a few stores and 580s go for $100-$150 more than 6970s.
But I agree, not worth the money when the difference is that small. My overclocked 560 Ti got the same results in games than a stock 570 (which is pretty much on par with 6970) and I got even better results with a 6950 I unlocked to 6970.
@th4970 You series? GTX 580 is the same price as the 7970, if not a bit more... At least in Canada? if that makes a difference.
My ASUS HD 6970 was a bit more then your standard XFX or MSI, and it cost $350. I was looking into the 580 but the extra $200 for 3 - 5 extra frames was not worth it.
OC my ASUS is a breeze and always stays under 65C when gaming, even at 986MHz.
I'm not from Canada, but as far as I'm concerned, NCIX is a canadian store. 7970s go for ~$700 and GTX 580s go for about $450-$550 in that store. So definitely no same prices with those.
I had a typo, meant to say that 7970 goes for about $600 not $700. But anyways, I guess my point is that you can get a GTX 580 way cheaper than a 7970. Not the same price and definitely not more. Of course if someone wants to buy the most expensive GTX 580 at this point, I call it stupidity.
@th4970 Must be the advantages of living in the U.S? lol both are around the same price for me, and the 7970 is WAY better then the GTX 580, and so It's a bonus.
But I do agree on that most expensive GTX 580 being a waste. $700 wasted since the only game out right now pushing hardware is Battlefield 3 LOL and if my 6970 can run Ultra with minimum frames of 43 those extra 5 frames is not worth the extra cash.
And since there is almost no difference between High and Ultra... Yeah...
@th4970 The 7970 is within the same price cause' it competes with the GTX 580, and does better then the GTX 580.
The only game that will test hardware, as it did in 2010 will be Metro: Last Light. No doubt a 7950 - 7970 will rock that games socks off, as will GTX 580 SLI. But that's it.
@thehardertheyfail you can run two different cards yes. BUT only if they are in the same series like for example; a 5870 and 5850 will work. Same with a 6970 and 6950. BUT a 6770 and a 6970 will not work, unless you have hacked drivers.
@MrTw00t i think you mean 580 SLI. It would depend really, I would go 580 sli if they are cheaper than the 7950 crossfire but if the 7950 crossfire is around the same price then I would go for the 7950 crossfire. They perform similarly.
Off topic but for all the peeps asking what song is playing during the benchmark if u have a shazzam app on ur phone just use that to find out who sings it lol
I am getting an EVGA GTX 550 TI 2gb real soon. I sure would not mind a review of that mid range card if possible? Played on a max resolution of 900p on the monitor, and maybe 1080p on a tv, as low as 720p so those three res is idea for me.
I wouldn't recommend CF unless you already have the fastest single GPU and need more. Too much driver issues and performance problems, the overall value diminishes real fast.
hey elrik i was wondering the music you use, is that just some small part made for these videos or a song i wanted to listen to it. and the videos are grate i am going to build my pc soon so all these videos help thanks :D
seems like a 6990 competes pretty well with these cards crossfired, so you might as well spend the $650- 800 on a 6990 rather than at least $900 for these cards
I'm loving my ASUS 6970, but I know I'll need to upgrade late this year. Can't wait till ASUS releases a 7950 and 7970 and you give them a review. I'll more then likely go with either those.
I wanted to CrossFire two ASUS 6970's, but the card is just way too big. My Antec Nine-Hundred V3 case wouldn't be able to fit two of those. Well... probably could but I got enough wires going on in there.
I hate AMD cpus, but I "kind of" like their GPUs. I mean, their GPUs are far far far better than their CPUs (I mean in the competition against intel/nvidia) so it kind of makes you like that company, don't know if they still have driver issues though. If I was rich I would buy the 7970, then when nvidia releases, buy their top one, compare them, and use the best one.. too bad I'm not rich, lol.
@JoesPlaying AMD are simply more affordable then NVIDIA and Intel. I see AMD as the guys who are for the majority, and not those who can waste a shit ton of cash.
I'm just afraid that if AMD leaves the CPU department that Intel will take total advantage and sell CPU's way more then they are now...
@Downsider24 i got mad when i found out that AMD is leaving the cpu scene,i really like that they provide cpu's with a great performance and an affordable price, we will see what hjappens =(
@hockeyhotdog11 AMD is more for value for money for the CPUs. Sure their 6 or 8 core processors might be slower than i7s or some i5s, but they're cheap and can render things really fast because of the amount of cores.
@DeltaPhi79 Oh i know. I love AMD. Ive got the 1090T running right now. It's just weird to me seeing their video cards are so powerful, and their CPUs slack. The Faildozer realllly let me down. I hope they come out of left field with a real "intel killer"
i must admit, amd graphics are the most powerfull(low price)
and intel still has the most powerfull CPU's (High price, but the performance is A.W.E.S.O.M.E)

@NaNd1337 Doesn't really matter.
My ASUS 6970 runs Metro: 2033 on Ultra settings (No DoF) at 38+ frames. That is the worst optimized game on PC.
Runs BF3 at Ultra settings at 1080 (No AA) with 43 minimum frames.
The GTX 580 gains anywhere from 5 - 8 frames on both games. Is it really worth the extra $200 - $300?

a question whats better?
2 7950 cards crossfire?
or 2 gtx 580 crossfire?
MrTw00t 3 weeks ago
@MrTw00t i think you mean 580 SLI. It would depend really, I would go 580 sli if they are cheaper than the 7950 crossfire but if the 7950 crossfire is around the same price then I would go for the 7950 crossfire. They perform similarly.
TheEGGtech 3 weeks ago
Off topic but for all the peeps asking what song is playing during the benchmark if u have a shazzam app on ur phone just use that to find out who sings it lol

I am getting an EVGA GTX 550 TI 2gb real soon. I sure would not mind a review of that mid range card if possible? Played on a max resolution of 900p on the monitor, and maybe 1080p on a tv, as low as 720p so those three res is idea for me.

Can we say that nvidia GTX 590 is the best card on the market right now? :D
MrOctobarthe18th 3 weeks ago
I wouldn't recommend CF unless you already have the fastest single GPU and need more. Too much driver issues and performance problems, the overall value diminishes real fast.

seems like a 6990 competes pretty well with these cards crossfired, so you might as well spend the $650- 800 on a 6990 rather than at least $900 for these cards

can you do a benchmark vid for the 7970/7950 pci express comparison
timlundberg666 3 weeks ago
I would declare that the 7950 has driver issue. It should out perform the 7970 which did not happen.

Downsider24 3 weeks ago
@Downsider24 Asus already released their 7950/7970.. I'd go with MSI though

JoesPlaying 3 weeks ago
@JoesPlaying AMD are simply more affordable then NVIDIA and Intel. I see AMD as the guys who are for the majority, and not those who can waste a shit ton of cash.
I'm just afraid that if AMD leaves the CPU department that Intel will take total advantage and sell CPU's way more then they are now...
Greedy bastards. Intel and NVIDIA both.
Downsider24 3 weeks ago
@Downsider24 i got mad when i found out that AMD is leaving the cpu scene,i really like that they provide cpu's with a great performance and an affordable price, we will see what hjappens =(

Why can't AMD make CPUs like they do V-Cards? Shame =/
hockeyhotdog11 3 weeks ago
@hockeyhotdog11 AMD is more for value for money for the CPUs. Sure their 6 or 8 core processors might be slower than i7s or some i5s, but they're cheap and can render things really fast because of the amount of cores.
DeltaPhi79 3 weeks ago
@DeltaPhi79 Oh i know. I love AMD. Ive got the 1090T running right now. It's just weird to me seeing their video cards are so powerful, and their CPUs slack. The Faildozer realllly let me down. I hope they come out of left field with a real "intel killer"
hockeyhotdog11 3 weeks ago
@hockeyhotdog11 Again, it's not really a fail when it comes to rendering. 8 cores for cheap is going to render pretty fast.
