I'm a career bowler. I fail to meet the cut now and then. I've gained tons of weight and still bowl like crap. In my 20+ years in the PBA tour I've gotten more fines than titles.
@MIJX15 he is so unnecessarily loud and obnoxious and he didnt even shake hands with walter ray... hes always so caught up in his own world and doesnt care a bit about sportsmanship...
@BowlingIsLife300 Who cares if hes loud and obnoxious, he's just confident and excited, I mean come on he beat Walter Ray. Yes he should have shook hands but the big win just got to his head. He should be caught up in his own world because when your facing someone, its just you and the lane, no one else matters. Also the only way that he disrespected Walter Ray is by not shaking his hand, but I don't think that was intentional, it just didn't happen.
@TheVerkommen dont ask who cares b/c obviously people do. theres plenty of people who win, whether it be for the first time or not, that know theyre on tv, and know theyre representing the sport, and know what behavior is appropriate. mccune is one of the only people to act so childish on television in the sport of bowling... yes he won but showing absolutely zero sportsmanship is unacceptable. even WRWJ is annoyed and hes been around forever, if youre annoying him, youre doing something wrong
@BowlingIsLife300 How is he being childish? His "behavior" is perfectly fine, he's just pumped. Also about zero sportsmanship, wtf, he's not shoving the win in Walter Ray's face...
@TheVerkommen sportsmanship isn't just not shoving a win in your opponents face, its knowing how to carry yourself in a respectable manner, and also respecting your opponent by shaking their hand, acknowledging that they played a good match. touring pros know how to carry themselves and how to get pumped but theres a time and place for excessive celebration. many people win their first titles and can control themselves long enough to AT LEAST shake hands, mccune should not be an exception
@BowlingIsLife300 Your right, but being respectful isn't just shaking your opponent's hand. Also he could have spoken with WRW later on and spoke about the match and how he played. That also wasn't they're last match together. He played WRW a couple other times later on too so he was probably different during those matches.
@TheVerkommen ok but youre saying he "could have" of course he could have done anything but the fact is that he didnt at that moment when it really mattered... and shaking hands has become the norm at the end of a match and he knew that, he just chose not to... even if he did speak to WRWJ later it still portrays a poor image of himself and of the sport to act in that way, yeah he was pumped, yeah he should be but the whole point is know how to control yourself until the appropriate time...
@TheVerkommen no you and mccune make the sport look bad. i can tell by your comments youre probably a tool just like him. im saying these things because you think that its ok to justify poor sportsmanship with hypothetical situations. its not. its ridiculous that you say im making the sport look bad, youre obviously wrong and think resorting to false accusations will take attention away from your idiocy... anyone with an iq higher than a monkey's should be able to see how irrational youre being
@BowlingIsLife300 Actually no your wrong, I just proposed a hypothetical situation, not that it actually happened, but that it might have and we don't know, that's all. The reason why I said that last comment is becasue you over exxagerating because you think that one player with poor sportsmanship is ruining the sport, I am not a tool, and I am not stupid. You're just over exagerating. I love the sport, It's all I do and It's basically my life. Just over exagerating. It's no big dealio.
@TheVerkommen first of all i know you proposed a hypothetical situation because i mentioned it as NOT being an acceptable excuse for not shaking hands, secondly i never said one player was ruining the sport, i said hes making it look bad, not ruining it, imagine not being an avid bowler and seeing mccune act like this on tv, it would leave a bad image of the sport in their mind, i know i wouldnt want to take up bowling if i saw mccune and thought thats just how bowlers acted...
@BowlingIsLife300 Hahahah, omg I see what you were trying to say. Just channel surfing and finding McCune screaming "My week!" and "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" would probably make the people at home go "Kids, this is why we don't go bowling." Hahah.
@TheVerkommen yes exactly... glad we found some understanding... i have nothing against you for supporting him, its just i dont like him for that reason...
This guy is funny,as a bowler I've never seen a guy like Eugene McCune. And man,274 avg over 9 game-record with 2 perfect on the 2010 WSOB,that's not a give me.The guy can bowl but he has a really irritating behaviour. At least on TV he can cut being fired up like that!
The guy Eugene looks like a biscuit when he said "son of a biscuit eater" when he bowled and left the 7 pin. At least he made the 7 pin when he converted it.
Congrats Eugene. You worked tirelessly to perfect throwing the ball really fast at the 1-3 pocket, and there happened to be a week when it was the most advantageous thing to do. You're a one-hit wonder, and you always will be. Boosted ratings or not, your attitude on this show was very unprofessional. Anyone who disagrees should first look up the word professional.
hear, hear, Scott. Love his form and what he can do with the ball but his attitude needed some help. He probably could've won more than just this 1 title.
Yeah, Walter Ray can play the whole lane if he needs to and if that's what is working the best. He usually does that in match play when the lanes have begun to break down severely. However, when he's capable of playing straight and getting to the pocket, he'll do it without question. I loved seeing Walter Ray win his 47th title today with a 258 and 290! He baffles me sometimes.
i love how you have everything to say about every single bowler who makes it on tv, but not your precious walter.. you feel safe over there in australia... matter of the fact is make it on tv here in america and we can all just point out your flaws

WRW playing the inside? Wow, I guess he hooked quite a bit back then.
derekli04 2 years ago
The lanes were sensitive and very early to the right part of the lane. "Hooking" is solely based on what the lane provides you.
BowlerScott 2 years ago
@BowlerScott true. but even on lanes where everyone hooks it he still usually plays very straight.
