You can't always take a story and put it on film exactly, especially with a character like Spider-Man. Watchmen was able to stick close to the comics because not only was it shorter which would make it much easier to condense, but it also didn't have stuff like alternate versions of the universe out there (like Ultimate Marvel and DC: Earth One). Also, Watchmen was designed to take place in a certain place and time (New York in the 1980s) and that setting was important to the story.

To be honest, I think this reboot is going to suck. First of all, the costume looks way too cheesy. Second, from watching the trailer, they are trying to make it so dark like The Dark Knight. Spider-Man is supposed to be a wise-cracking and energetic superhero This version of Spider_man looks too dark and emo. Third, in the trailer, the spider bit Peter Parker on the neck when in the comics, the spider bit him on his hand. And finally, the web shooters look too stupid. The web should be organic.
Even though I want Gwen Stacy in this movie I can't help but think that Emma Stone would've been the perfect Mary Jane. Though she'll be damn good as Gwen (Vultress was all Sony's idea and I'm only defensive because of The Evil Dead).

The reason Watchmen was closer to the comics was because it's a extremely short comic series. It only lasted from 1986 to 1987. It's the same thing as 300. It's not like Spider-Man which has about 50 or so years of history. Making a comic book film exactly like the comic is not always feasible because of the sheer amount of material in them.
Like your ideas FilmMasterAdam. I am not that well versed in Spiderman lore but I was puzzled when Gwen Stacy was not introduced in the first movie. As far as her death when thrown off the bridge it's been open to three interpretations: a) Green Goblin had already killed her, b) the whiplash from Spiderman's web suddenly stopping her broke her neck, c) Green Goblin said she was already dead as soon as he threw her off because the shock falling alone would have killed her.

The first movie should be about spiderman having already mastered his powers, he's already fought some of the famous villains like shocker and rhino, but not all of them, I would pick electro(I know people want lizard, but let connors develop in the first movie, THEN have him turn into lizard in the second, with Kraven as a 2nd villain ONLY use those two), MJ can be there, but make Gwen the love intrest, MJ can be peters friend, Cameo's are ok, like Dr octavius

Please do not have that pre-destiny in which 'Gwen dies and MJ moves in' and etc. I'm kinda tired of MJ always being Pete's BF in every Spidey adaptation. My favorite adaptation of Gwen is from Spectacular spiderman. She cared deeply of her friends, always insisted on helping others, and DIDN'T look like every other ordinary blond girl (until ep. Gangland... lame). That's one great change from the comics that we've seen over and over again.
I personally think that your storyline is too identical to the comics. I haven't exactly read *all* the comics but knowing that XXX is going to happen, and the other XXX is gonna...yeah, there's no pleasure in watching something you know what's gonna happen. Granted, not saying CHANGE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE,but keep it fresh and interesting.
As for the gritty thing... i really doubt they're going for DARK KNIGHT-gritty. Maybe keep it somewhat serious but have Spidey crack wise jokes here and there
You don't think changes need to be made? Think about it you have a budget of at leased 80 million dollars (Around that area) you need to bring in a new crowd. And the reason why Watchmen was about 98% faithfull because it was just 1 story that began and ended. Spider-man has been around for 40 plus years so things need to be changed to make a trilogy because you don't want a 20 film series only Bond can do that.

My stance is that I'm more likely to enjoy a revisit of a series that started life as an adaptation than a reboot of a series that was made with film in mind. Example, Batman Begins starts on a better foot than a reboot of Star Wars.

Psh you keep dreaming with all your views for the Spiderman Reboot. Its been confirmed that Sony is using the Ultimate Spiderman Story arch. Green goblin is a hulk mutant in that and Mary Jane comes before Gwen Stacy in that series. To boot in order of villians Green Goblin goes first, then Doc Ock so if they want to trully follow that they would be remaking the first two films. Marc Web is the director for the reboots too so no Micheal (satan) Bay.

You were now suggesting that they could do from the comic (if they do/did Venom) the Space wars saga thing but on Your ten thins you hate about Spidey 3 (great btw!!) Here are some of my thoughts:
The first movie should be about spiderman having already mastered his powers, he's already fought some of the famous villains like shocker and rhino, but not all of them, I would pick electro(I know people want lizard, but let connors develop in the first movie, THEN have him turn into lizard in the second, with Kraven as a 2nd villain ONLY use those two), MJ can be there, but make Gwen the love intrest, MJ can be peters friend, Cameo's are ok, like Dr octavius

Please do not have that pre-destiny in which 'Gwen dies and MJ moves in' and etc. I'm kinda tired of MJ always being Pete's BF in every Spidey adaptation. My favorite adaptation of Gwen is from Spectacular spiderman. She cared deeply of her friends, always insisted on helping others, and DIDN'T look like every other ordinary blond girl (until ep. Gangland... lame). That's one great change from the comics that we've seen over and over again.
Oh and have Spidey use Web shooters

I personally think that your storyline is too identical to the comics. I haven't exactly read *all* the comics but knowing that XXX is going to happen, and the other XXX is gonna...yeah, there's no pleasure in watching something you know what's gonna happen. Granted, not saying CHANGE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE,but keep it fresh and interesting.
As for the gritty thing... i really doubt they're going for DARK KNIGHT-gritty. Maybe keep it somewhat serious but have Spidey crack wise jokes here and there

You don't think changes need to be made? Think about it you have a budget of at leased 80 million dollars (Around that area) you need to bring in a new crowd. And the reason why Watchmen was about 98% faithfull because it was just 1 story that began and ended. Spider-man has been around for 40 plus years so things need to be changed to make a trilogy because you don't want a 20 film series only Bond can do that.

I respect your opinion. However, I personally think the movie is going to be fucked up. By the way Mary Jane is once again the leading lady in the upcoming flick. I hope that the reboot kind of follows how the first 2 films did but the its time for the Lizard to be the villian and i wud love to see Carnage as a villian some day but im not sure if they wud put him in a movie since he is too evil a character to keep the movie in the pg-13 rating.

@supertenor They also interfeered with 1. He originally wanted Gwen Stacy in it as opposed to Mary Jane. They opted for Mary Jane and so he obliged. The only one he really got the most say on was 2. Even though he originally had planned for both Goblin and Ock in 1.

@MsDANNY33 true but very little blame can go to him. he didn't want to do the way it turned out. what he wanted to do was either at least keep the darkness or maybe make it as dark as batman 89 rather than go even campier. to be honest i think he made batman & robin the way it is against his will. the studio had more control over the project, that's why they should be blamed more. the only thing he did wrong was that, if he didn't like the script, he should have walked away.

My stance is that I'm more likely to enjoy a revisit of a series that started life as an adaptation than a reboot of a series that was made with film in mind. Example, Batman Begins starts on a better foot than a reboot of Star Wars.

@crackcream94 as for green goblin i recommend doing what legend did for tim currys face, the mask was both scary and realistic looking. that and timcurry looked different with the mask on if that is what goblin looks like but with green it would be creepy and cool looking. as for venom maybe sam worthington as eddie brock?

Psh you keep dreaming with all your views for the Spiderman Reboot. Its been confirmed that Sony is using the Ultimate Spiderman Story arch. Green goblin is a hulk mutant in that and Mary Jane comes before Gwen Stacy in that series. To boot in order of villians Green Goblin goes first, then Doc Ock so if they want to trully follow that they would be remaking the first two films. Marc Web is the director for the reboots too so no Micheal (satan) Bay.

Watchmen was perfect? What are you smoking dude? The movie was missing huge chapters. Roshachs complete arch with the shrink? Tale Of The Black Frieder? (yeah I know about the dvd, but its wasn't in the movie) and the ending? Granted I liked the movies ending better, but still it was missing more stuff. Great film though.
