  • Love the song and the sound quality..... what strings do you prefer?

  • Beautiful, I play guitar, all ego aside, this is plain beautiful, what gift music is?

  • Very beautiful Jake, Love the song, and you did a great job!! Caryl McD

  • Very beautiful solo guitar playing ! Thank you Mr Jake !

Please check also my pages : I try also to give YouTube some nice guitar music ....

  • Congrats, I was expecting a clone of the "original" but this is a most welcome surprise - excellent technique and beautiful tone too. Dare I mention a fraction more emotion and conviction would not harm the performance. It looks too easy for you to play that well....

  • I really can enjoy of your playing and sound! great job!

  • Thanks!

  • dvd review... this one is worth getting just for the performance video alone. the instruction is top notch, clear and precise. i'm loving this song even more, since i bought the dvd. my playing is really coming around, some of the best lessons i've ever had. jake is my new solo guitar guru. thanks for producing these instructional videos for guys like me who want to learn this style of playing. thanks again for sharing the knowledge.

  • Very kind of you, thanks! Respone to the DVDs has been really great so I will definitely go on producing them. Title list is growing weekly, I'm nearly at 20 at this time and have several more orders in the pipeline. Thanks again!

  • Maestro!!!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding, Jake. Thank you , as always, for the continuing inspiration! Gotta his the shed now!!

  • Well Jake, I must concede. You were right my friend :) not to belittle "Miss Jones" but this is really something to be proud of! Just beautiful! Too bad youtube only gives us 5 stars to work with.

  • Thanks, I am indeed more pleased with this than "Miss Jones". I think I have gotten more used to the medium and I am more relaxed about it. Also, I have better software and I may even get an HD camera soon. Bottom line, please subscribe so you can check out all the progress... Thanks again!

  • Jake,

    Bravo my friend, bravo!

That was superb. Wonderful musicianship and technique...I hear many, many hours of practice and dedication in your playing. I wish you all the success the world has to offer.

    Arnie

  • Thank you!

  • sweet touch.... great arrangement... you've got some excellent vids... this one is first class... i just sent an e-mail to order your cd. and you can bet i'll be getting some of your instruction dvd's... thanks for posting this timeless classic.

  • In few words, Ibanez can be proud of you.

The most important is the player and behind (only) the guitar.

  • Thank you!

  • Jake I know it sounds "Old -fashioned" but I'm back listening again, the normal media is full of mediocrity and who cares bout that, it's inspiration I'm after and when I listen to you, that's what you give me my friend, the warm voicings, intimate melodies, thoughtful phrasing, yeah that's where it's at, and the rest well that's OK but not Top-notch,LOL,greets Vic.

  • To receive such nice comments, back to back, from two of Youtube's most admired guitarists is almost too much (emphasis on "almost", I can handle some more...!). Thank you very much, you are encouraging me to do more.

  • the people of my home state and I thank you. Frankly I never thought this song was very "vermont" since i take the idea quite personally. However you have captured its essence of New Yorkers cherishing a notion of Vermont most beautifully. and i don't mean that sarcastically.

next you should think about doing Captain Beefheart's "Moonlight on Vermont". A very different mood entirely! :D

    brilliant playing as always

  • Great, as always. Five stars!

  • Superb playing!

  • Your MOONLIGHT shines brighter than most any other, Jake. Exceptional work. (I just realized that if you were sitting behind a drum kit, you could be mistaken for a son to Buddy Rich!) ~Terry in FL

  • Thanks again, I do really appreciate it!

  • It's a mystery to me how you get such a great tone, That Ibanez is a great guitar my cousin has one but I've yet to play it next time I'm in London i will have to play it. But asside from the guitar its all emphasis on how you feel the music and you've got a really high level of musicianship, Technicality is a great trait to have but having Feeling is also very important, You manage to have them both and work them both in unison incredibly well 5 stars again.

  • Very kind of you, thank you!

  • Hey Jake, 5 Big stars(always). Great tune played by a real MUSICIAN............ THANX 4 POSTIN' SUCH BEAUTIFUL SONGS,, IF YOU GET A CHANCE, CHECK OUT THIS GUY Iggypres. He reminds me of you and your style of play (the song.Rosanna By TOTO)..........KEEPON STRUMMIN....DALLAS

  • Thanks Dallas! Yes, I know this guy, a great player and I am a subscriber too - it always inspires me and gives me ideas about my own music when I check out other guitarists, especially great ones.

  • You are simply are a fantastic Jazz guitarist, excellent!!!

  • Thank you! I always like to mention my two main heroes in this style, Joe Pass and Tuck Andress. If you like my stuff and don't know these two names, go check them out in a hurry, they are truly the best. Thanks again, if you haven't yet done so, please subscribe as many more videos are coming!

  • Great playing!

  • Fantastic as always!!! Great.

  • You really get a nice sound out of that Ibanez. You wouldn't know it was a cheap guitar. I believe that at least 50% of the guitar's tone quality can be attributed to the player's skill. Great players can make inferior instruments sound beautiful. You make this guitar sound great. Thanks for another outstanding performance.

  • Also on the tech side. I see you took the back P.U. out & filled the hole. Has that made the sound better?

  • Thanks for all the comments! The PU thing was not intentional - I broke the neck PU (I hit pretty hard with my RH on some stuff) and since i don't use the bridge PU anyway I just moved it over and covered the hole with tape.

  • Holy Schmokes man! Do you have any idea how good you are? This is just about my favorite song of all time. I have listened to many versions hoping one might be as exciting as Johnny's. I don't recall Joe or Herb doing it. Maybe I missed it. If they did do it, it must sound close to this. Just fantastic!

  • Very kind of you, thank you!

  • Real excellent playing I love the tone.

    Peter

  • Great playing again!

An interesting thing, I can get a VERY similar tone with using my Roland Cube's acoustic simulation, without the need of a piezo or anything. They come separately too, as a BOSS pedal.

  • Great stuff, seems like you deeply hear what you play and play what you hear, I think that's what makes a great artist and the most sincere, intimate music. Bravo!

  • Thanks!!

  • Wow Jake, nice rendition.

Your lick at 3:02 is grandioso!

  • Great Harmony and sound.

    Beautiful work * * * * *

  • Beautiful!
