One way to connect X540 speakers to xbox360 w/HDMI video output

maybe old, but I now got a 5.1 SPA2602 system from philips, the back got three red.white audio in and those cables which come with it have 3.5 mm Jackplugs. (problem is I can only connect two of the three 3.5 mm jackplugs in the 360 cable, anyone help?

The way I did it: PS3/Xbox is connected to the TV with HDMI. TV is connected to my desktop PC's Sound Blaster card via optical connection. 5.1 speakers are then connected to the Sound Blaster. That gives you true 5.1 surround from a gaming console, assuming you already have a 5.1 card in your computer.

Dam I tried no to buy anymore things to make this happen but matter what I keep spending. I was giving a shot with regular stereo rca and it doesn't work. Your method looks like it might work but i dont see why the rca cable didnt work.When I use regular rca it works fine with my turtle beach headsets but the x540 just doesnt seem to connect. Ima try this method out and hopefuly it works but i was wondering if there are any other methods in which it can be done. For example with out rca 2 male

If I get these, i want to be able to connect them to BOTH my 360 using matrix mode, AND to my PC, for full 5.1 surround sound, I can buy a sound card no problem, also when my 360 is is connected via hdmi to my monitor, my monitor can output the sound through a 3.5mm jack, but can i hook up the speakers via the 3.5mm jack for matrix mode AND hook them up to my pc for 5.1 surround using my sound card? Hope that made sense!

can't u just turn on the matrix button to get 5.1 on logitech x-540

@Pikipii its to allow you to use seperate audio options like stereo or optical while using HDMI, if you have the original av cable(composite and component) you can pry the casing off instead

wouldnt it be easier to just plug the HDMI straight into and HDMI Reciver? or even plug the HDMI to a TV that supports DD and hae an optical cable go from the TV to the Reciever?

i plug the hdmi out of my xbox into my television, then run the audio output into my sony stereo. I guess i would need to use a digital out of my tv to then plug into a digital input on a receiver with speakers.. One more thing man.... Does the xbox automatically decode dobly digital or do you set it up? thanks

@Gtrplyr1 I believe that you you will have to set the xbox to dobly digital surround because it may default to dobly digital stereo. . you will also need to make sure that your tv support DD surround sound output also

@Gtrplyr1 what surround sound system do you have. if your speakers have hdmi inputs and outputs you should be able to use the speakers as a video throughput to your tv as the speakers play the audio

I haven't purchased anything yet. Im looking to hoop it up to an affordable 7.1 if possible, or 5.1 if thats all it offers. Does the Xbox plug into the receiver via HDMI? What would i look for a receiver with Coaxial and hdmi inputs?

@Gtrplyr1 yes the 360 plugs into the receiver if it has hdmi in and out puts. you wouldnt need to have coaxial if your using hdmi but the receiver is likely to have it as well

Strider-0, I watched the video over & over. And honestly I still have no idea wat I need to buy or replace. in order to keep the HDMI plugged? I had to replace the HDMI cable for the HD component cables. Were those cables you showed red & white the comp.cables or a separate cable? Man Im lost. See I got everything working good, but i had to replace the HDMI cable with the HD component cables in order to. hi, Can you get sound out without connecting the av cables and the coupler,,,, I mean Just using the xbox orignal audio cable eg.

Xbox --> Audio cable and Hdmi--> Regular speakers(the ones with one wire)

And can you connect your own Head phones to THE ORIGNAL Xbox audio CABLE

you can get 5.1 sourround by just gettin a Stereo Jack Plug 2x Female Jack Adapter which costs 20 cents and insert the black and yellow of the logithech in it then get another one and put in the green then get another one and put the two of before in to it then put it in with this method of the video but instead of just the green all of them which will be in one. your welcome hehhe
