When I met him at mayhem fest w. rob zombie, I was kinda shocked but the camera has a way of making people look alot bigger as well. Overall one of the chillest guys I've met, and a the fact that I got to talk to him about guitars, and get insight from him was amazing considering he's one of my fav's

I know John a little bit, and we've bonded over our love of Telecasters. It's true, he has over 150 of them now. Between us we have about 250 Telecasters, and about 500 guitars overall. Just last week (I had no idea he was so into cables, and even had his own Signature one) I mentioned how stupid I thought it was that some people actually had the nerve to have signature cables, for God's sake. I said "What's next? Signature picks? Signature tone knobs?". We haven't spoken since.

I started to get in to teles after I years of being a fan of John 5. I baught his squire signature model to start me off. Let me tell you fans of John 5 and teles, buy this guitar it is awesome. The only thing I'm changing on this guitar are the pickups(Seymour duncan hot rods) and I'm putting a bigsby on it.

@captbarbossa2 haha i hear ya buddy. live i got my epi les paul custom (tuxedo white) and my old strat as a backup (sometimes i use it for songs were that tone is more desirable, but 95% of the show is on my les paul). actually i have noticed my les paul is SO heavy sometimes i switch to my strat just to give my shoulder a break. but weight = solidbody (non-chambered) tone. check it out at KingsHorses.ca - you should think about getting a backup! haha

John 5's solo albums really show off the heavier side of the Tele (as well as the country side, of course). Danny Gatton and Brad Paisley--two other Tele users--show off every other side to the Tele.

For instance, on John 5's latest solo album, THE ART OF MALICE, "J.W." and "Steel Guitar Rag" are just two of the country instrumentals included. Also, in a lot of his non-country instrumentals, he often uses lots of country licks. And on an older album of his, he did a song called "Death Valley" which featured country guitar master Albert Lee.
