  • Beautiful singing. Kind of "stiff" in the acting department. (What's with the elbows stuck out all the time?)

  • Callas was the best, Sutherland was next, Tebaldi is so far down the line, you'd need a week to find her!

  • @jjj29871 you are 19 and know nothing about singing go to play with the dolls and to impersonate Maria Callas ignorant little fag

  • I love it. She is one of the best sopranos I know... before Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland. They said she warm her voice before performing by listening to Callas, no wonder she was doing a good job ;-)

  • sexy jewish pum pum top rate me <3333333333333333333

  • LA MIA PREFERITA,BRAVA RENATA TEBALDI.

  • PUCCINI, LE SCRIVEVA PER LE BELLE DONNE ,COME LA BELLISSIMA RENTA TEBALDI.SOPRANO.

  • ME PARECE QUE COMPARAR A ESTAS DOS CANTANTES, EXTRAORDINARIAS, ESTÁ FUERA DE LUGAR. SÓLO, PIENSO YO, ES CUESTIÓN DE GUSTOS AUDITIVOS, LA BELLEZA DEL CANTO, Y SENSIBILIDAD " RENATA TEBALDI "Y LA EXPRESIVIDAD ESCÉNICA " MARIA CALLAS " SUS VOCES ERAN ABOLUTAMENTE DIFERENTES. YO ME INCLINO POR RENATA TEBALDI, SIN DESMERECER A LA GRAN MARIA CALLAS. A LA , QUE ADMIRO, Y ESCUCHO MUY A MENUDO, NO ME CIERRO A LOS BUENOS CANTANTES......

  • @Maripudelmonaco Totalmente de acuerdo

  • @melibea56 - GRACIAS POR TU COMENTARIO- SALUDOS !!!

  • Emocionante ...

  • Difference between Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi is they come from different schools. Maria comes from the "placement" school while Renata practices appoggio and sings in one register. Maria probably sings with much more passion though.

  • At last I know who Frasier was on about....!!!

  • @GhostRaider18765 Wow. Just wow.

I'm asking the uploader to remove this conversation because it has little to nothing to do with Tebaldi.

    I thought that was obvious.

  • Uploader, could you please remove the stupid convo between me and GhostRaider18765? If so, thanks.

  • @GhostRaider18765 And now it's devolving into childish rhetoric. Nice.

  • horrible comparer avec CALAS ICI SUR YOUTUBE AVEC CET NOM DE RECHERCHE " Maria Callas (Μαρία Κάλλας): Madama Butterfly - Puccini "

  • @alexandrestark Non.

  • @MerlinsJester SI !!! waazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaa !!!

  • @GhostRaider18765 And you think I'm actually going to listen? What are you, five?

You and your evasions of actually saying something relevant.

  • @GhostRaider18765 This has nothing to do with her singing ability, which I'm pretty sure you're blind to, if this idiotic reply you've typed up is reading correctly...

  • @GhostRaider18765 Did I?

  • @GhostRaider18765 I'll bite: what singer?

  • She will ALWAYS be the real deal! She and Maria are together now in a place where all our squabbling don't mean a thang.

    God I love her singing!

  • The entire Callas vs Tebaldi was ridiculous. Both Ladies were first class Prima Donna's and as different as plums from peaches! They both sang Aida, the Trovatore and Forza Leonora's, Traviata, Butterfly, Tosca, Maddalena in Chenier, but the musical approach and dramatic interpretation was as different as their temperaments. Each was gifted and posessed a genius of her very own. They are both gone now only the work remains and it is great work! Let them rest in peace and stop the feuding

  • @intelegentable - CÓMO TE DOY LA RAZÒN, LAS DOS FUERON COMPLETAMENTE DISTINTAS INTERPRETANDO Y LAS DOABSOLUTAMENTE MARAVILLOSAS, PONGAMOS SUS DISCOS Y VÍDEOS Y DELEITÉMOSNOS ESCUCHANDO UNAS VOCES, IRREPETIBLES,, EN ESTOS TIEMPOS DE CRISIS DE CANTANTES PARA LA HISTORIA DE LA LÍRICA,-

  • La piu grande di tutti i tempi

  • Strength power and beauty. A voice for the ages.

    Halcot 19

  • diva per sempre....sublime

  • I think she was a pretty class act.

  • renata tebaldi was one of the greatest prima donnas ever!

  • she is so fucking stiff. great singing though

  • ...

  • Perfect vocal control warm , passionate her sound is so unique I loved her I first heard her La Boheme. At Carnegie hall 1957 I sat on the stage and watched this great artist stun the audience.Toscanini was right "The voice of an angel."

  • Can't understand a word she's saying. WTF?

  • @WallyVanRiper1 Learn Italian?

  • @WallyVanRiper1 it's in another language, man.

  • @WallyVanRiper1 Another american retard.

  • @jpmariachi In MY REAl NATIVE AMERICAN "woreds" (oh Shallow twit!-Shit!) Buzz the fawk off! You're a left of ZERO mentality asshole!

  • @WallyVanRiper1 Perhaps because she's singing a foreign language? Oh gee.

  • @MerlinsJester Gee....ya think?

  • @WallyVanRiper1 of course!

  • Beautiful but I don't understand the controversy vs Maria Callas. Callas' vocal control and bel canto, to my ear, is far more impressive.

  • It annoys me that people compare Callas and Tebaldi. Appreciate them both for what they are. Both are different and both are very beautiful.

  • Granted everyone has their preferences, but I just love listening to the sheer power and talent of these ladies. I am always astounded by the fact this can come out of a human being.

  • Bautiful!

    Perfect!

    La grande Tebaldi !

  • You all should hear her sing Bach's Ave Maria. Amazing!

  • What transcendent beauty and dignity!

  • Veronica Villaroel es amazing. she is really good in "Un bel di vedremo"

  • ¡¡INSUPERABLE!!

  • I always hold my breath from 3:50 to 4:15

    it's so...impressive

Vous me faites pleurer!

  • Renata isn't that great like you guys think... sad :))))

  • @amen5001 And your standard is what?

  • I agree w/Count di Luna

  • God bless you.

  • I think this was real, it's hard to believe that someone could synthesize this melody and turn it into her own after all the countless renditions. Today with the amount of performers who mimic some of the great divas what a wonderful gift. I'd like to go visit the Museum dedicated to her and her voice.

  • Cio Cio San = Tebaldi

  • MAGNIFICENT !!!

  • Wow, this is the best performance of Un bel di vedremo I've ever come across. Thanks!

  • Un respiro ♫

  • What is all of this talk of Maria Callas. Callas was never in the league of Tebaldi. One only has to have ears to hear the difference. Tebaldi's singing is sublime. Callas on the other hand blew her voice out by singing roles she should have stayed away from. Callas also lowered the standards for singers today. Callas made bad singing accepatble, and thus the current sad state of the arts.

  • Death by goosebumps! Wow!

  • RENATA ERES UNA DIVA , SENCILLAMENTE SUBLIME

  • UNA VERDADERA DIVA

  • She is my absolute favourite opera singer. Her voice just soars angelically- I can't find fault with anything about her singing.

  • This is very beautiful!

  • takes a while for her to really get into it, but when she does...magic.

  • Lindíssimooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can't get enough ...no doubts renata tebaldi was outstanding!

  • This is awesome! What a voice! Fantastic.

  • Awesome!

  • Tebaldi has a voice that cuts like a blade . What more can you wish for !!

  • Merci, Renata.

  • Devine!

  • Renata does a great job, but Maria Callas is simply untouchable.Maria outshines everyone else, she is Madame Butterfly!

  • @DeNTeD84

    Hahaha........ good joke!

Callas is great but she couldn't sing Puccini!

  • @Neanderthalgirl -Then whose voice was it with GDS on those wonderful Tosca recordings-rated best of any by most critics.

  • @paulostroff99

    One word:

    OVERRATED

  • @Neanderthalgirl -What are your qualifications-if any!!!!

  • @paulostroff99

Study and singing education in Düsseldorf

  • @paulostroff99

    AND YES ..........OVERRATED!!!

  • @Neanderthalgirl

    OVERRATED? Be serious!

  • @amineurin

    It's CALLAS not Tebaldi, sorry!

Callas was overrated like Karajan .... only a media hype.

  • @Neanderthalgirl Callas made remarks appreciative of Tebaldi, and vice versa. Callas said, "I admire Tebaldi's tone; it's beautiful—also some beautiful phrasing. Sometimes, I actually wish I had her voice." Tebaldi was once given a recording for a role shewas to play. Aware of the alleged rivalry, he recommended another version. Days later, he went to visit Tebaldi, to find her sitting by the speakers, listening to Callas' recording. She then asked, "Why didn't you tell me Maria's was the best"

  • @CurzonRoad

.... sorry, how could I have ever left out Gobbi ?!

  • @meltzerboy -N-As good as any ever recorded-IMHO.

  • She is superb in this performance! This performance brings tears to my eyes, look at her pose. A beautiful, talented, self-assured Diva. I love her beautiful, beautiful voice. She was one of the most talented Spintos to grace our world with her voice.

  • Meravigliosa interpretazione.

  • she is absolutely radiant here!

  • i know! she gets to me every time too!

  • Forever géniale! mieux que Callas... A mon avis...AV

  • Meravigliosa !

  • This is like listening to an Angel singing...It is absolutely beautiful and will last for eternity..

If this song could be sent across the whole Universe... !... whoever would hear it , could not remain indifferent to it.. No words can describe the emotion felt .. Thank you so much for posting.

  • this performance is a shining example of what true lirico-spinto singing by a soprano sounds like. listen to the line, the phrasing, the intonation, the colors...(sighs) brava diva!...

  • Brava, brava, brava. La mejor

  • Dios! Bravo Señora Tibaldi.... que emoción, que sentimiento... BRAVO!

  • WONDERFUL!! She has that "tone" that is so crucial for this work. Leontyne has that "tone" and so does Renata

  • Yeah! That's right Leontyne and Renata have that incredible and unique voices. They're in a totally different league!

  • Compare this to contemporary recordings and never buy post 1960 recordings again!

"...Voice of an Angel" quote of Puccini's pal Toscanini.

  • When will we see/hear their like again?

  • Though the sound recording is not very good I do like La Tebalti's rendetion. She was wonderful.

  • Amazing!! Brava!!!!

  • This is beautiful. Thanks for posting.

It was not only a beautiful voice , but a huge one as well. I heard her many times at the Met

  • you are lucky, she is my favourite soprano and I think her Mimi is the ultimate but never saw her live !

  • watch her hands! they're so gracefull *sigh*

  • If you like Puccini and know what quality is you'd STAY AWAY from Paul Potts. That's for sure...

  • Amen to that!

  • LOL! Well said.

  • The BEST Butterfly EVER!!!!!!!

  • I think Tebaldi is a great Butterfly and Mimi. Love Callas but thin in terms of emotional richness Renata always wins. Bit like Domingo v Pavarotti !

  • You are right.

  • I think that Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi both had amazing voices. I have been taking my first singing lesson for a few months now, and my teacher told me to listen to Tibaldi. I did happen to see Callas perform the week before. They are both good to study. They both have AMAZING voices, it really just depends on what kind of voice you like, because they both sound very different.

  • PERFECT

  • I commented earlier, negatively, on Tebaldi's Jewel Song from Faust here on Youtube (lack of trill, etc). But in this Un bel di she is certainly in her natural territory.

  • As far as I know, the highest number of octaves in opera is 11, while Umm Kolthoum reached 13 and Mohammad Al Quppanchi reached 18 :)

  • veramente divina....

  • I've seen her past her prime, but with all her allure, at Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris in the late '70s. She was intelligent, fabulous and still the great star. She sang new stuff only because, she said, if you want to hear what I sounded like before, buy my records....

  • That MAGIC Renata touch...

  • Recordings don't tell everything. Quality, size of voice, character, integrity, movement & the effect on an audience need describing too. Have you heard a great performance by this singer live, without a mic? If so please post an objective description to add the wonderful YouTube archive before the memory is lost for ever.

How I wish I could have been there to hear Farinelli entrance an audience with the power of a single note, but we do at least have Charles Burney's marvellous account.

  • Tebaldi, in her prime, singing Puccini, and particularly Madama Butterfly. Could it get much better than this?

  • and... the best aria!

  • A dear friend introduced me to this song recently and since hearing it for the first time it has become an addiction..... Renata sings it with such passion.... I sit mesmerised and watch and listen over and over again.... truly a graceful lady and such a heart wrenching song..... thank you

  • I'm a fan of rock but this song make me feel like crying. Such a sad song.

  • Excellent presentation, beautiful woman, magnificent voice! More importantly, she carried herself with such grace and dignity ... a great lady. No wonder people loved her. The voice and temperament of an angel. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RENATA!!! Forever alive in our hearts. Thank-you so much Bendsito!!!

  • What can I say - magnificent!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers,

    Nils

  • HAUNTINGLY ELEGANT!!

  • Today is Tebaldi's 4th anniversary of her death. But time will never erase the memory of this great soprano. Truly one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. Love you Renata!

Riposi in pace Signora.
