People constantly cite personal experience as "proof" of god/the supernatural. And why is such "evidence" not admissible in a court of law? Simple - It's NOT evidence! BTW, our brains evolved over millions of years as our ancestors evolved, our frontal lobes grew as well as our cerebellums to the point that they are at today. This was all done in response to a changing environment, which includes our food sources, climate, terrain, etc... For example, animals that eat berries and other fruits that are hard to reach have a larger cerebellum on average because that task takes complex movement.

If we use it for other things that is not beneficial to our growth, we will only hurt ourselves in the end. Science may proof what the law of physic is, but it do very little on how we should lead our lives. Religion help us spiritually to do what is right for ourselves.

However, since their perception of God is clouded by their sinful tendency, they are mostly getting it wrong (but not all wrong). We are learning from our mistake of the past. Jesus is the one that they say is sinless. This is where we believe what he is teaching us is true and how God wants us to act.

BTW, our brains evolved over millions of years as our ancestors evolved, our frontal lobes grew as well as our cerebellums to the point that they are at today. This was all done in response to a changing environment, which includes our food sources, climate, terrain, etc... All law of nature came to be because of this force that set the rules. What we need to do is understand this force and follow the rules that was given. Having said that, we still have free will to choose between following that set of rules or disregarding it altoghether.

@ScotchMonkey08 Aside from the law of physics, we also have rule of morality. That is how we should and shouldn't do with our bodies and our minds. You see, our bodies are made for certain purpose. If we use it for other things that is not beneficial to our growth, we will only hurt ourselves in the end. Science may proof what the law of physic is, but it do very little on how we should lead our lives. Religion help us spiritually to do what is right for ourselves.

@xdragon2k Science is basic observations and information about the reality around you. If a religion can be wrong in every area of science and in several areas of logic, there is reason to believe it will be wrong in morality as well.
Morality is not objective however, there are things that are beneficial to us and also things that aren't beneficiul to one's self but one would still find in the morally correct position. Logic wins in the end I'm afraid, not religious beliefs.

@xdragon2k that is where you lose me. you say religion offers us guidance in issues of morality, but i do not believe that any of the religions are true and you cannot demonstrate that they are, so that is where we differ. i have no intention of getting my morality from religion. i have read the bible, and the quran and neither of them offer real moral guidance. they offer some moral guidelines mixed in with some very immoral teachings.
i think i'll just settle for my own secular morality

@ScotchMonkey08 The bible, especially the Old Testament, is nothing more than people trying to figure out what God is trying to say to them (or who God really is), it's a history of journey. However, since their perception of God is clouded by their sinful tendency, they are mostly getting it wrong (but not all wrong). We are learning from our mistake of the past. Jesus is the one that they say is sinless. This is where we believe what he is teaching us is true and how God wants us to act.

if you can pick and choose which parts of the bible you agree with then you are showing that you are basing your morality on what you feel is moral, you are not basing your morality on the bible. similarly i can also decide what i believe is moral and what i believe is immoral, and i don't need to invent a god to judge me. i am judged by myself and by the people around me.. the way it should be.

It's the historians and academics on the Dvd that present the evidence for JESUS CHRIST in a biographical context outside THE GOSPELS. if you can't afford to buy it, it is easy enough to find.
