  • When someone mentioned this one to me I thoght that he was having me on....I do not remember it..Right up to the point that I found it on youtube I didn't think it was real !! Sounds great !!

  • Most probably my favourite Hollies song. Ask me tomorrow and I may have changed my mind ! Great to see it turn up in the movie 'The Limey"

  • The Limey

  • Sadim Gink

  • They were truly one of the all-time great bands. I like this song, "Long Dark Road," and "Carrie Anne" the best of all of their songs.

  • Everything he touches turns to sh...

  • Who else discovered this from The Limey?

  • Check out the Live version from 4-Way Street.

  • First heard this on the Underground Garage. Just when you think you know all the Hollies" hits!

  • Classic psychedelic single, Gram Nash's vocal here is impeccable.

  • $4299000=2853246.30=$225205.92 (USDGBPMXN)

  • My favorite Hollies song. I'm amazed at how this song is put together. Everything clicks lyrically, musically, and vocally. Powerful pop poetry in just over three minutes. I also enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.

  • It's a song with a structure out of all the conventions of the period. The Hollies, an essential reference for the music of the 60s ', 70' and always ....

  • fucking good song.

  • @scanner7man What in the world do the DC5 and the Hollies have to do with each other, for comparison's sake? Very different types of pop.

  • @scanner7man I know thats a joke but you still should be hanged for that statement. Best off you peel away boyo, before you get your feelings hurt. You silly cunt.

  • My favourite Hollies song,I believe it was the last single before Graham Nash went

    with CS&Y thank's for posting

  • @TOFFEEBLUE344 well no actually. the single listen to me was graham's last single with the hollies before he left to form crosby stills and nash ( or crosby stills and nash and young depending on which is your favorite configuration of the two?) and listen to me came out in 1968 (the same year that graham nash left.) while this song came out in 1967. so to answer your question king midas in reverse was not graham's last single with the hollies.

  • @christianphi I don't know,I was going on what I heard,I would'nt

    like to dispute it,thank's anyway

  • Is that a fife? In a rock 'n roll song? That's... Brilliant!

  • Wandering down memory lane this morning. Had forgotten how brilliant their harmonies and arrangements were. Wonderful stuff!!

  • @fohcher Don't know if it's on You Tube, but I saw an interview with George Martin (the Beatles producer) who said he always enjoyed working with the Hollies. All their songs were well rehearsed and their harmonies always spot on. He said they were so good and so professional that he was able to record their work in just one take, two at the most. And he didn't know many other artists he could say that about! This is an excellent song.

  • One of my all time favourites - great lyrics and harmonies

  • This is a classic......

  • this song is so magical ... incredible!

  • I don't really care who's better: beatles Hollies Hollies Beatles. I love them both. And you nickers can just shut up or put up.

  • Magnífica canción, hermosa

  • Wonderful Song by The Hollies!!! Love Them! 5*s Thankyou....Anita..

  • This song is brilliant; astonishing that it wasn`t even one of the Hollies` best selling hits! Very cleverly crafted, excellent lyrics, appealing video (well done!).........oh, and Garry Rogers liked it!

  • Thank you so much for the share - Wonderful song by The Amazing Hollies !!!

  • Love this band, saw them about 6 years ago in Tunbridge

    Welle

    5*********** Terry

  • A great song...also sung years later by the Posies.. a band influenced by the Hollies.

  • One of Nash' best (not a fan of Nash but the Hollies should be in the Rock Hall of Fame.

  • I think they are being inducted this year 2010..

  • @alanvking thanks.

  • @alanvking they were already inducted in march actually.

  • I always believed Graham Nash was inspired to write this song after listening to the Beatles Rubber Soul

  • this song is about obomba not my president!

  • i heard a cover version long ago can someone help what i remember it was strange thanks bean 68

  • The CSNY version. I like it more, it's slower, smoother, the lyrics have their weight and are prone to reflection.

  • this was on CSI: NY? the TV Series? I didn't know that.

  • CSNY = Crosby Stills Nash & Young

  • @krouton Wish someone would post that version on YouTube.

  • "Excellent single that should have been a massive hit."

    Damn right!

  • Just brilliant. An intelligent pop song and just a little bit spooky.

  • I think I slightly prefer the solo version on Four Way Street... but this is an excellent song

  • Actually the Nash split was caused more by the Hollies producer Ron Richards convincing the other four members not to "change the winning formula".Graham Nash then made the decision to cross the Atlantic to be with his new found friends, which at the time also included the late Cass Elliott .

  • A perfect song! It surfaced again a few years ago in the movie THE LIMEY. In the film, it plays as the Protagonist drives up the CA coast to Big Sur. I year later I had to try it. Trust me, there is no greater thing than driving up the Big Sur coast in a convertible blastin KMIR!!

  • Very few songs are perfect. This is one of them. I can listen to this again and again and again. Cheers!

  • Another superb and very underrated Hollies song...........thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • Was this song written about George Bush?

  • been looking for this for ages, so thanks a lot!!!

  • As used to introduce Peter Fonda in The Limey.

This single was a minor chart entry and caused Graham Nash to leave the Hollies as he was going in a more singer songwriter direction

  • this graham nash composition was recorded shortly before he left The Hollies because of artistic differences - they wanted to remain more "pop" - oriented while Graham's musical interests were evolving toward more introspective themes like this song. he soon quit and both continued to enjoy successful careers. and the rest is history.

  • He also left because of a couple of other factors. One was the fact that they wouldn't record a certain song named "Marakesh Express", big mistake. However, the straw that really broke the camel's back was when the rest of the band decided to record an entire album of Bob Dylan songs. It wasn't long after that that Nash decided to move to America to work with David Crosby and Stephen Stills.

  • I love listening to the Hollies and this song is great. As I said before, I don't know how this wasn't a big hit.

  • "Excellent single that should have been a massive hit."

Damn right. 5 stars to the Hollies and hawkmoon03111951 for posting it.

  • good

  • My oldest brother has this album. I enjoyed all the songs and have the CD now. "Away" and "Would You Believe?" and "Wish You Could Be Here" and "Charlie and Fred" and "Butterfly" and "Step Inside" and of course "Dear Eloise." Still enjoyable to listen to these wonderful songs.

  • Wonderful song, very much underrated.

  • classic from the cream of manchester.

  • How do I spel!.,. Underestimated is the word..l

  • One of the most unestamited songs in the world ever ! Graham played it for me backstage live in Finspång, Sweden-67 on the capodastro he got from me in my father`s musicstore, and it would be appreciated for what It`s worth !

    PerEric Swaerd, Sweden

  • very cool song, one of the hollies best,Grham Nash on vocals i'm sure

  • Not quite, but still a brilliant song.

  • King Midas In Reverse > Hey Jude

  • I must admit, coming from the same City as The Hollies, they never ever got the same love as Liverpool gave the Beatles. A very underrated group, like this single.

  • A hidden gem from the Hollies. I could never understand how this wasn't a hit in the US. Again, why aren't they in the RRHOF?????

  • Hidden gem? This is almost all of their greatest hits compilations.

    Still extremely underrated though.

  • Theme song in Steven Soderberghs 'The Limey'. Wonderful song!

  • Very nice track and vid! Thanks for posting.

  • A Cracker Graham...

  • this was pretty well recieved when i had it on my old channel. great song !
