The movement is from muscle memory from repeated muscle movements throughout the snake's life. The cells that control movement release energy in the patterns corresponding with movements that were most common. If you take snake meat (skin a snake leaving only the muscle on the ribs and spine) and put it in warm water shortly after the snake is killed... it will start to move around in the water as if it is still alive because the warm water causes the cells to release the stored energy.
@awsomexperson it's just from experience. I've had a dead, skinned rattle snake crawl out of our kitchen sink. I've also had one slither around in the back of our truck for over three hours without a head... striking at things and what not.

At that point i would have taken a chainsaw an sawed that mother f*cker in half 7 times and threw holy water on it and then disinigrated it into ash, and then then throw the ashes into a river and then let the river dry up and pour oil over the bottom of the whole river and light it on fire.....then let the water come back so i would have a nice river again.

YEp that is real I have seen a5 ft. rattler do this after cutting of it's head .It's just nerves flashing off the energy left in them because there is still blood in the brain. We cut out the heart and put in a glass of water .it beat for over 10 minutes.

The movement is from muscle memory from repeated muscle movements throughout the snake's life. The cells that control movement release energy in the patterns corresponding with movements that were most common. If you take snake meat (skin a snake leaving only the muscle on the ribs and spine) and put it in warm water shortly after the snake is killed... it will start to move around in the water as if it is still alive because the warm water causes the cells to release the stored energy.

@awsomexperson it's just from experience. I've had a dead, skinned rattle snake crawl out of our kitchen sink. I've also had one slither around in the back of our truck for over three hours without a head... striking at things and what not.
