It took refinements halfway through its production run to decisively defeat the fastest car (S2000) in the class below (sub-280) the one it belongs to. The FM platform was never designed from the ground up to be used in a sports car. That is why Tsuchiya, Kurosawa, and others hesitate to even call it a sports car.
Drove my friends S2k for a summer, was a cool car fast and handles very good. I was buying a new car and had the Honda and Nissan in my sights.Since I was familiar with the S2k I went a test drove the Z. I got em to take $5k off the car and drove it home that day. this is the best car I've ever had. It does everything so well and around town driving is a breeze with it's torque you don't even have to shift as much. Check out my page to see her, and most girls I meet start off with "nice car" !
@AyashiFX55 Did you look at the video? I'm not knocking his driving ability but I would question whether the Z driver is driving as hard as the S2k driver. The best way to compare the cars would be to have Tsuchiya drive both separately and compare lap times.

kazama handled that z very well I'd like to see ap1 vs the de, the hr is a bit of a faster car compared to an s2k and those straights on tsukuba really let that thing take off compared to the s2k that has the great weight and great maneuverability but not enough torque to blast out of the exits like the hr 350z, the de would be a more suited match they are more equivalent in power to weight so it would come down to what is better in turns both great cars tho ex g35 owner hopefully soon s2k owner

The Z is heavier for a reason. The Z is MUCH better in any accident because of its weight and the weight helps at high speeds. Hondas feel like paper and plastic when in an accident. The Z is great in the corners and straights. That's why it won. The Z for the win, yet again.
i haven't seen 30 seconds of the vid and i noticed that the potenzas on the honda are mounted incorrectly. they mounted a right sided tire on the left.
i think if there were more laps the outcome MIGHT have been different. but then again i'm taking the weight into account since the Z's front tyres would probably start to give. or all four for the fact that it's such a heavy car. both are great cars..but AP2 ftw!! =)

It takes a prime opportunity to pass the car in front of you without hitting it and damaging two cars that are worth around $35,000 each. Once the Z driver saw his opportunity, he took it, and the S2000 was incapable of recovering. The Z makes tighter turns, and has far more horsepower and torque. Period. Take your spanking, and live with it.

s2000 has defo been faster around that track, i'm sure i've seen it in the 1:08's. Prob cos this one is the 2.2 that only revs to 8000rpm.
Driver dunt seem best niether, he made a few mistakes in corners. Despite this i think s2k did pretty well to say it only hsa 2ltr
