  • my heart, my home

  • Clan Henderson forever!

  • FROM THE ICY GLEN WE MARCH.

  • THE SCOTTS HELD US HIGH :UE UKR UA //800years long

  • OMG its a army of bag pipes get the fuck out of dodge if you hear this coming!!!! Fucking Love Bag Pipes Hell yea

  • @Paul0205

60 years later, we germans love the Schottisch People! we love you, now!!!!!!

  • The Germans referred to the Scots as "The Ladies from Hell.

  • Even while I'm not Scottish, nor I have any relation with the country, I must say this song, plus it's lyrics make my blood boil... Can't even stay still while I'm listening to it :D Great one, respect for Scotland!

    Towering in gallant fame,

    Scotland my mountain hame,

High may your proud standards gloriously wave,

    Land of my high endeavour,

    Land of the shining river,

Land of my heart for ever,

    Scotland the brave.

  • How this isn't Scotland's National Anthem, I have no idea.

  • @sunac

Scotland can't have this as their National Anthem, because as a part of the United Kingdom theirs is "God Save The Queen". But, if they would have their own, it would be either this, or Flower of Scotland I think. I'm not Scottish, so anyone correct me if I'm not right...

  • @sunac naw but if you do hear the actual anthem :) Flower of scotland ' then you'll know why,

  • The second band sounded better but I'm pretty sure the Marine Corp band can kick their ass.

  • Every nation is a nation worth being proud of. I wish to remind everyone that it is not England but Britania which conquered half the world. Elizabeth II is no more German than any other English person is. Remember that everyone's ancestory comes from somewhere else, and if you trace family lines far enough, we all come from a Kenya. There's no shame in mixed culture, language, or nationality. We are all mixes in one way or another, and bloody fine mixes we are! God Bless Our Species!

  • william wallace is now a subject of the English queen! where the f*ck is scotland? is that a nation? i thought it was part of what we call England, where English is spoken and not that shitty scottish dialect that you call language, you're subjects of the english queen! scottish slaves!

  • @hummer8384

you dont even have a nation, you cant control your own streets never mind anything else. your nationalism is being diluted and your "german queen" is sitting on her fat royal ass letting it happen.

and the english language you speak is a mix of many languages, mostly dictated when the romans came and gave you a spanking, they didnt build a wall to keep you in they built it to keep us out....whos the slave now son.

  • @hummer8384 @tehvlb Sadly the throne should be Scottish, if you know your history - James VI & I was King of Scots as James VI from 24 July 1567. On 24 March 1603, he also became King of England and Ireland as James I when he inherited the English and Irish crown and thereby united the Crown of the Kingdom of Scotland with the crown of the Kingdoms of England and Ireland (each country remained legally separate though each was ruled by James).

  • Just to add - Since the line of descent from Henry II to Michael Hastings is legitimate, and the line of descent from Henry II to Elizabeth II is not legitimate, it follows that Michael Hastings is Britain's legitimate king, and the present occupant of Buckingham Palace has no valid claim to be Queen of England.

  • @hummer8384 alba gu brath bitch.

  • right i am steamin (drunk beyond all belif for foreigners) and i say the scots r not to b fucked with, when i come to the U.S i will be wering the kilt whiskey in hand showin u *descendants* how Scots do it, if u can keep up i will let u claim scottish ancestry, if not, then uve been diluted far too far! Scotland is a proud fucking nation and if im let down by the yanks and canooks then u can say u have no scottish ancestors n u are infact english! dont b a letdoon, b a Scotsman! Alba gu braith!

  • There is scots and there is people who wish they were scots!! :)

  • Scotland the brave, fuck all yanks! thay have no history!

  • @sundimented Our history is largely your history retard.

  • @sundimented Well some of us yanks happen to be part Scottish and damn proud of it!

  • @frc1968 If your parents are scottish then you are scottish not Yanks, don't contratict your self!

  • STUNNING... excellent music.........

  • I searched for my ancestors and found out that they were a scottish caln so now im looking up scottish history and culture.

  • i love the tempo... fills me with thunder !

  • @Paul0205 Exactly SCOTLAND THE VERY BRAVE

  • whish that announcer would shut up and let us enjoy the music

  • @Paul0205 ... in WW2, even the Ghurkas were afraid of the Scots - they reasond that if all of the other Brit units paid the Scots respect & didn't try to aggravate them in soldiers' pubs like soldiers usually do (incl elite units like the RM), & that moreover they often had their legs uncovered (wearing kilts) even in the dead of the bitter winters of the day, then these mad hairy tall bastards from the north who spoke a dialect that no one could understand, must have been seriously hard indeed.

  • @SlaineOz exactly, its common knowledge that the Scots fought bravely during those wars, I never said any of the other Allies didn't but being Scottish and watching Scotland the Brave I thought I should point out that Scots are brave and even the enemy admitted it. Christ knows what that guys deal is. Scottish soldiers are not to fucked with, ask the men they fought.

God Bless Our Wee Bit Hill And Glen!

  • @Paul0205 Exactly and Im English but Mum was from Maryhill and as Scots and proud as they come

  • @burnley5960 you will find that the majority of people living anywhere in the UK are all connected nationality wise from somehwere in history :)

  • @Paul0205

Don't forget the Battle of Culloden.

They fought until their last breath under the guidance of the pipes.

  • @Paul0205 ... (Cont.) amidst the shelling & flying bullets - even on the bloodied beaches in Normandy in the midst of battle in D-Day 1944. They had good cause too to fear the Scots Guards & Black Watch; as had the French in the Napoleonic Wars, when the Scots would impetuously charge wearing kilts & often wielding basket-hilted broadswords, often putting the French to flight. This happend during the Jacobite Rebellions too, when the highlanders often crushd professional Brit formations in melee

  • @Paul0205 Aye that! The only other allied formations in WW1-2 to achieve the same respect & fear from the enemy were the Australians (both WW), the Ghurkas & the Royal Marines (early WW1 and then WW2). The Irish in WW1 were good fighters but were treated as cannon fodder (when they weren't actively fighting the Brits themselves!). The original BEF in WW1 was very good too, but too small & were decimated at Ypres 1914. In WW2 the Germans were rptedly stunnd to see the pipers march & play ... MTF

  • Why is that bloody commentator still jabbering on when the pipes & drums march past?! Will he kindly just SHUT UP & listen!

  • I dont see what wrong with that Germans comment ,when he said Now get rid of the English...Aye.....

  • For some reason, known only to my ancestors, this tune as well as Garryowen gets me choked up.

  • civil war anyway! It's often overlooked because it wasn't a permanent conquest. When Cromwell died and the monarchy was restored things just reverted back to as they were!

  • and ordinary English people - and the actions of the ruling elite and especially the Court Party in Scotland can be viewed negatively but there was no conquest of one country by the other. There was economic pressures yes. If anything it resembled an early version of the European experiment currently going on for the past few decades! That is not to say Scotland has never ever been conquered by England. It was in about 1650 by Oliver Cromwell after Scotland had pretty much exhausted itself in

  • 1603 when the Scottish King James VI was offered the English throne on the death of Queen Elizabeth. Through the 17thC they were seperate kingdoms who shared a monarch much like the UK currently shares a monarch with Australia though the monarchs obviously pushed for a closer union. At the beginning of the 18thC the Act of Union finally saw the winding up of both the Scottish and English kingdoms and the new kingdom of Great Britain was formed. The union itself was unpopular among ordinary Scots

  • Well done lads as a scot im very proud

  • @Paul0205 As a proud German I'd say it wasn't that much fear but more than with any other enemy for sure! I really do love Scotland and you can also be very proud of your country and culture!!!

And now get rid of that english people ;)

  • @cheekytexan Not to try and take down Scotland, i love Scotland. But actually you have been conquered by the english a couple of hundred yeas ago, but that's long ago so i guess your statement is true. But Sweden hasn't been conquered either, and Finland hasn't been conquered since it's independence, although we had to fight (at that time) the largest military force in the world the FUCKING SOVIET UNION !!!!!

  • @Balalaika74 "But actually you have been conquered by the english a couple of hundred yeas ago" I think you maybe don't understand the relationship with the UK and the history of its formation. What war a couple of hundred years ago saw Scotland conquered by England? There was none! England was approaching the complete conquering of Scotland at the beginning of the 14thC but eventually the Scots secured their indepedence under Robert the Bruce. They remained unconnected seperate kingdoms until

  • what paul said is abosolute bs.... why would anyone fear a marauding band of skirt wearing soldiers playing bag pipes?

dont get me wrong I love the song but its just I dont see how its intimidating at all.

  • @DJBranden These soldiers have the reputation that would terrify anyone. Lucknow: rebels massacred. Balaclava: Russian cavalry held off, army saved. The Somme: objectives completed and fear struck into the hearts of the enemy. When you hear the bagpipes, you know that they will not stop until their job is done. They make Scotland proud, Britain proud and our enemies run. They sacrificed their lives for Queen and country. So don't be ignorant. You havent been on the recieving end of their wrath.

  • @weewulliebee

any soldiers with a supperior officer can win a fight. A great deal also goes in there training, but most of the time soldiers are trained equally enought to depend on the officers. Im sure scotland just had some born on a certain day to a certain family one in a milion genius general or somthing...

  • Just... had a massive chill.

  • It stirs my soul, and I'm not a Scot.

  • @Paul0205 - Just as you cannot make an assertion that all Germans were scared, you cannot make an assertion that all Scotts were brave.

  • @JustinFromSydney I never said all Germans were scared or all Scots were brave; I said "Germans" not"The Germans"; it was a group of ex soldiers interviewed about fighting the allies during the WW1. They went through nations that they fought and commented on each. Not once did I say Scots were brave, I said they fought to the last man. That can be taken as brave, determined, insane, ridiculous etc. They were most probably terrified but they acted despite that, to me that is bravery. All the best

  • @Paul0205 - You cannot generalise based on a human invented nationality and say "they fought to the last man."

  • @JustinFromSydney Different nationalities exist because different cultures don't share the same views or ideas so they stay separated. Human created? Yes. Does that mean it doesn't exist? No. They did fight to the last man, its common knowledge. I'm not generalising either, I never once said that All of Germany were terrified of Scotland. I said German soldiers, not All German soldiers. Although I understand your arguement, it has no foundation an is taken completely out of context. All the best

  • @Paul0205 - Name one view or idea that every single person who identifies as a "scot" has.

I never said that you said that all of germany was scared of scotland. I said you were wrong to assert that german soldiers, (by virture of them being german and by virtue of their opponents being "scottish") were scared of scotts on the basis of this imaginary nationality alone, and on the basis that each share some mystical ability over the other.

  • @JustinFromSydney That they're Scottish lol. Ok, I see your point, well these 'Germans' as they like to call themselves (god knows why) had their opinion on these soldiers they fought who liked to call themselves 'Scots' (again, god knows why) because the way they fought was clearly different to the way other groups of soldiers from different areas fought and they feared and respected that. I'm afraid good sir that if you read my original post again you will see that I never said they were...

  • @JustinFromSydney scared of Scots on the principle that they were Scots and were to be feared; the Scots were feared and respectd because of their actions during the war and their style of fighting. Now if you're wondering why the Scots were the way they were and not like other nations the most likely cause would be cultural and historical differences. The geography plays no part. Now if thats not good enough you're going to need a psychic to ask the soldiers because all I know is what they said

  • @Paul0205 - I'm afraid you're trying to invent a mythology. Each person on both "sides" were individuals. There is no common bond that defines each and ever individual on either side, so you cannot speak in absolutes.

  • @JustinFromSydney My god man, did I say the Germans were afraid or say the Scots were to be feared? No. Did I say that every Scot was a brave courageous bastard that would always go down swinging? No, but they would! I am quoting German soldiers, if you disagree take it up with them because i honestly couldn't care less. I can pretty much guarentee every soldier on every side was terrified but they still fought. Bravery isn't the absence of fear, it is acting regardless of fear. Good day sir.

  • the bag pipes is the most famous musical instrument in the world it was played in ww2 by bill millin on the battle field against the germans and the brass bands and nothing else has nothing on the bagpipes seriously...

  • hey i live in america and dont give a shit where youre from

  • sorry but the ameicans need to understand and appreciate that 'brass' bands have no place with the pipes!! It simply ruins the soul pleasing tone of the bagpipes.

  • get rid o the brass instruments for gods sakes.

ps .. Scotland the Brave isn't the national anthem

  • The Star-Spangled Banner is lame by comparison.

  • @Paul0205 I´m from Austria, and I love Scotland the brave it´s much better than our National Anthem!

    All the best

  • one eighth Scottish love this

  • u do know kelts originated from scots

  • I am American born of Scottish desent and it amazes me how much of our national pride and icons we took from Scotland. Great country!!!

  • Best national anthem ever.

  • I am proud to be scottish

  • I respect the Scottish and all. Hail William Wallace but kelts....no...

  • braes o killiecrannkie is a good tune if anybody intrested in scots music ! its by the corries!

  • "Sons of Scotland! I am William Wallace!"

"William Wallace is seven feet tall!"

"Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse."

  • @HellzNord what happend to william wallace , after he was captured by the english ? please remind me......

  • @england2535 Wallace was captured in Robroyston near Glasgow and handed over to King Edward I of England, who had him hanged, drawn, and quartered for high treason... Nothing quite like being betrayed by your own countrymen.

  • SCOTLAND = SERIOUS BUSINESS

  • I don't see people celebrating England all over the world.

  • LEGAL ADOREI. BRASIL E ESCÓCIA SÃO IRMÃOS

  • The band really compliments the bagpipers well

  • I respect you

i am from saudi arabia i used to be in aberdeen at 2007

you are a nice people and you have a beotiful country

  • Grandi gli scozzesi.... meravigliose le cornamuse

  • The only people that say they're proud to be Scottish are Americans.

  • @SuctionTesticleMan

You make it sound as if its a bad thing. Dont forget our friends the Canadians as well!

    ALBA GU BRATH

  • @SuctionTesticleMan

I am Scottish and very proud to be so. We have a unique and wonderful country and culture. Anyone who disagrees is either english or jealous!

  • @glasgow1234 Not to proud to take the english pound though...

  • @idyhot There is no such thing as the english pound! Pound Sterling is the currency of the United Kingdom which we all live in and pay our taxes to. Plus us Scots prop up the treasury in London with our Oil revenues so we should at least get a wee bit extra back.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010

    As i said....

"Anyone who disagrees is either english or jealous"

    LOL !

  • Comment removed

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 It's sad you find the need to come onto a Scottish video to be xenephobic and abusive towards Scottish people. Anyone who would do that must live a sad pathetic excuse of a life. I pity you. And it's all good you sitting there and being abusive online but you just try and come up north and walk into a nice friendly pub in Glasgow and call us a Jock cunt and you will lose both your legs. The Scottish are the nicest most friendliest people in the world until you fuck with us !

  • @glasgow1234 Best ignore the idiot. It has been crawling round lots of the Scottish youtube videos making infantile remarks for ages. It clearly gets a high from the enraged responses it gets from people. You are right, it is pity that this sad individual needs. If nobody responds at all to the verbal diarrhoea, it will get bored and crawl back under it's stone :)

  • STOP THE CLAPPING!!! I WANT TO HEAR THE PIPES!!!! :P

  • I love this music/song:P

  • this is the anthem of scotland. I prefer this over flower of scotland. more patriotic somewhat.

  • I'm toying with the idea of learning to play bagpipes, and especially the song Paranoid by Black Sabbath, since it's sort of a 'tradition' to tell the player of any instrument, especially if they play on the street, to play Paranoid. So when they would tell me to play it, i could :D

If played properly, the bagpipe is an enchanting and interesting instrument.

  • @Pyhankoski Soittakaa paranoid! Ja vieläpä säkkipillillä, ei lainkaan hassumpi idea! :D

  • *Shuffles out of way so as to not get trampled by marching band*

p.s: sorry the kicks in the english

  • I love to browse the Scottish videos, not just for the comments but for the music and to listen to the great Scottish accents.

  • I went to this festival this year. It was amazing. There's no other sound in the world like the sound of two hundred pipers and Marines playing Scotland the Brave.

  • Who Ever Invented The BagPipes Was A True Genuis :)

And Who Ever Founded Scotland Was A True Visionary :D
