  • do you have to worry about the sound port bit or the jumper cable port on the optical drive when setting it up as a the only device on an ide cable or daisy chain ???

  • were did the ide and molex come from the video card or motherboard

  • i tried adding a cd drive to my computer

but now when the computer starts i get an error

"disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter"

any help would be much obliged

    thank you

  • hey what if my pc cannot read any blank disc what should i do?

  • Could you be a little more specific on the issue. Did you install a new drive or did it all of a sudden stop reading?

  • @Ehmoful Does it read DVD types? or only CD media. Also what is the type of your dvd drive?? Everything that has GWA in it is an OS type. So if you took it out of a dell for example it won't work on other computers. Other reason can be that you have a broken lens.

  • please

i changed my cd drive with a dvd drive and when i boot up the computer it says "Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter"

  • I don't think you can just remove the primary drive and turn on the computer. Please contact your computers manufacture for instructions.

  • I have that Really Floppy Wire Connected to my First disk drive. But In the middle of it there is another spot on the wire which Looks like it will fit into another disk drive. So can I hook up 2 disk drive on one of thouse Floppy cords?

  • Now neither of them come up when i boost up.

if i unplug the second drive then the first one comes up again. what do i do to make them both come up??

  • 1. The second drive may not be compatible.

    2. Try downloading/installing the drivers and firmware for the second drive. Also check device manager to see what it says.

  • no, i meant like only one cable set works. i can plug the first set into one or the other and it will work. but as soon as i plug them both in together they dont come up.

dw ive emailed my uncle, hes an IT guy .

    thanks for ur help

  • Let me know of how it goes.

  • note: had to put the question in two separate boxes as it doesn't all fit in one..

hey i have the same tower as you. im adding an extra dvd drive (it already came with one) into the slot below. see on the cables how there is two plugs on both the IDE and MOLEX cable length between the mother board and the drive?. well i connected the second one (the one that has a black cover over it in your vid 1:22) into the second drive for both the IDE and MOLEX leaving the first in the original drive.

  • Very short clean and simple. To the point! Nice one!

  • thx for vid helped me a bunch

  • hey thats the comp i've got 5/5

  • i have that pc to lol this will help alot

  • :)

It's a pretty old computer. I use it as a "home network storage."

  • yea mines newer then that one i can tell bye the metal the new ones are glossy i upgraded to 2gb of ram its awesome pc

  • about how much should i pay for a new drive for my computer?

  • Depends. If it is a plain CD/DVD drive paying around $10 to $15 can get you a pretty decent one. If it is a rewritable drive anything between $25 - $40 should be good.

  • oh and do i need a anti static wrist band to install it? =\

  • No... you won't need it for this. A CD drive is covered with plastic so the components won't be touched. I have built a computer without using the wrist band.

  • how much is a dvd drive worth? cuz im gonna need one for the new games, more and more games a scratching the idea of 3-6 cds for 1 dvd disc, so i need to upgrade. and also should i just buy new RAM from 256mb-1.5gig's and a new hardrive from 40gig-250gig or just buy a new computer in general?

  • thanks. i have to do this and didnt know how

  • hey i have that same exact pc...how did u get that front piece off?

  • There are two little tabs that I push out at 0:14

  • very easy. not that hard at all. at first when i opened up my pc i was freackin out from all the gizmos. now its a piece of cake. nice vid
