@ZizooMoDaI there is no evidence linking genetics to homo or bisexuality, there are only suggestions towards it. even those suggestions are based on small sample sizes. it's pure conjecture until there is proof, so what you gave isnt evidence. it certainly wouldnt hold water in a legitimate scientific discussion. theories can't be proved by experimental science, only disproved, so even one heterosexual outcome from those experiments prevents you from stating that as fact.

@pkil232 Such experimental evidence is evidence of correlations, but not causations. I never alleged any "facts" about causation. I said that "hypersexual" women are more likely to have gay sons (a correlation), and I said that he could not legitimately argue that homosexuality does NOT have a genetic factor, because there are significant correlations that suggest that more exploration is needed. That is not the same as insisting on genetic influence over sexuality as fact. ;)

@pkil232 It is well established that many aspects of personal taste and personality are genetic, through studies on early-separated identical twins. IQ and the Big Five personality attributes are known to be roughly 50% genetic through these. Additionally, many find long-lost twins of this sort and are shocked to learn, despite different rearing, that their tastes are very similar. It is safer generally to assume that any aspect of tastes (i.e. sexual preference) or personality is partly genetic

It's been well established that a huge mass preferences and personality are roughly 50% genetically-determined --as in most are determined halfway by genetics, as opposed to half being determined totally by genetics-- through a giant mass of study on twins. You couldn't convince a professional otherwise unless they had something to gain from agreeing with you.
Thus, the burden of PROOF lies with him.

Neither of us can assert anything, but I believe that burden of proof is on whoever claims that a measurable aspect of disposition is totally unrelated to genetics, due to the great mass of studies on identical twins (I'm sure you could find hundreds of them, easily).
Therefore, he has no right (within the framework of science) to claim that homosexuality is, with ANY certainty, not genetic, and nor do you.

Still, my initial note that if there are genes that determine sexuality, they are likely different (in terms of homo vs. hetero) in men & women, is something I hold to, and I think it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. That is, which gender(s) you like is more likely in your genes, and not whether you're straight or not.

I enjoy the "Emo" style, and I incorporate a lot of it into my own personal style, along with other styles and my own inflections. Why?
