Her performance on the CD below is purely amazing.

However, at this stage I personally believe when a performer is in a studio it will always sound great!

A live performace is where so many errors are noticed or is it we just expect it to sound perfect as in the studio?

A mediocre version. Too fast, too much portamento, too much vibrato, the phrasing is definitely not German school, the voice in the high notes is like a tin flute. A bit better than the Venezuelian lady, but not good enough.

Thank you thank you for posting it!! Even if I prefere the recording Marsalis-Gruberova,that I have in mp3, I am really amazed of the absolute beauty of this music and the unbelieveble voice of Edita, wonderful and stop! ! I listened the Battle version but it is too slow and she has to take too many breaths...Gruberova is an ANGEL!!

I must say the best version I heard life is by Bervely Hoch, I do not think ther is a posting of her singing it on youtube. She performed it on Dutch television in the 80ties in a programme called "Young people on the concert podium". Hope someone has a copy to post it.

This is not good...if an amateur were to sing this people on youtube would immediately bash him/her for lack of pitch core and sloppy diction! Well, I respect Edita and like some of her stuff, but this is not good. But I've heard her waver in pitch in other performances too.

Ah, not huffy at all, I just listen to your intepretation on your website. You can learn a lot, a hell of a lot of the great singer Gruberova is. Your intepretation misses nuance, feeling, eveness and pitch madam! Edita is simply far more superior than you ever will be. Sorry
