@1840218403 Good luck with that...sorry to burst your bubble but none of those companies build truly American cars anymore. Just because the dealership flies american flies doesnt mean shit dude. The Camaro is built entirely in canada, dude, and Fusion is all MEXICANO! It is interesting to note that there has been no seppuku or hara-kiri within Toyota executive offices as a result of the 10 million vehicle recall, which leads to one hypothesis that they know the problem is an unforeseeable software glitch. You gotta wonder: if Toyota were a Chinese Co, would the Gvnmt have already executed several Dept heads? But here, the T-droolers want DOT Chief LaHood to resign for saying "you shouldn't drive them"? Isn't that one of the very few +'s for the B.O. Admin?
@GreenMtnHunter A software glitch in the electronic throttle is as likely as putting 1+1 into a calculator and getting 5. The electronics in the ETC are as simple as whats in any handheld calculator.
@dannyc9997 Really? Did not the NTSA and Congress absolutely grill Toyota executives because even their own people could not explain, much less understand their own ETCS? And Toyota accused USI Prof. Gilbert, who also testified, of "rewiring and re-engineering the ETCS in multiple ways...virtually impossible to occur in real world conditions without visible evidence." Yet, que eerie music, some how he managed it...does not sound like a simple "hand-held calculator" to me...
Of course, Prof. Gilbert and Brian Ross are liars. Any car can be rewired the way Prof. Gilbert conducted his test. His tests and results are baseless and just foder for a story hungry media and fanboys. Camry, still number one in sales for 2010!
@jbrcar Seriously? You're being sarcastic, right? I don't care for Brian Ross either, but why would a Prof out of the Univ. of S.Illinois jeopardize his career to lie to Congress? Remember, his interview with ABC was after his testimony. Toyota accused Gilbert of "rewiring and re-engineering the ETCS...", but did they even look at the car Gilbert tested? Ignorance is bliss, and you can accuse me of it,, but I'm not driving a Toyota. Scroll down to see my brother's Toy. tribulations...
He didn't go out of his way to jeopardize his career. He just didn't think his point through and it was shown to be inclusive. That's all. You wonder why Gilbert wouldn't jeopardize his career. I guess the same could be asked of you. Why would Toyota go out of their way to jeopardize their reputation and lie to Congress. Come on mountain man, too much cold thin air...... You want us to believe Gilbert and only Gilbert. Sorry, doesn't work that way.....
@jbrcar So don't believe Gilbert...Try the Wall Street Journal, Consumer Reports, The NTSB, or what if...you believed TOYOTA in their second testimony before congress? Just for giggles read about Toyota's plan of attack in the Washington Post! Boy those guys really made up a story! And not a shred of evidence...except Sean Kane, MA, Safety Consultant...but why bother with facts; it's much easier to call someone "stupid" and hope they'll be quiet...
You're starting to sound like you're in trouble. I point out that you seem to be taking this way too seriously to be an objective poster and you continue to rant. You continue to make an ass of yourself but either don't see it or don't care. You are stupid, that's not in question. Be quiet? Who cares? Carry on with your rants, it's most likely good therapy for you. How much are UAW dues now?
@GreenMtnHunter Your a clueless average citizen with absolutly zero experiance in this field. You have no backround in the industry and you know nothing about the electronics in these vehicles. For your information, what Mr. Gilbert did would cause ANY ETCS system to function the same way. Doesnt matter if its Toyota or Ford or Honda or anyone. He basically set the system up as if the gas pedal was depressed normally. The only way that could happen is if the gas pedal was actually depressed.
@dannyc9997said," He basically set the system up as if the gas pedal was depressed normally. The only way that could happen is if the gas pedal was actually depressed."
Reply: I realize space here is limited, and you surely did not mean to imply that the test represented actual driver input...that would make a point opposing your conspiracy theory, right....?
And I am far from average-lets get back to research; tired of waiting for any, single, referential fact to support your p.o.v.
@GreenMtnHunter Seriously? How about Forbes stating that nearly all of the tested data recorded indicate that no brake pressure was applied during the so called "unintended acceleration" accidents? Or how about the fact that not a soul from the NHSTA could find a defect in the ETC system?
@jbrcar That's the best you can do? Call me stupid? Have you watched this apology? Have you been reading anything? See Consumer Reports 12/1/2010. They are now reporting a NEW Toyota TSB which "directs dealer service departments to repair the bracket to which the accelerator assembly mounts, which it says "may have become damaged" during the first recall " Btw C.R. LOVES Toyota and in Oct.reinstated " the recommendations for eight Toyota models that the automaker recalled in January."
Carry on making an ass of yourself. You are truly stupid repeating news everyone has read for themself. Your little drama queen act is nothing more than a sad cry for help. Get help you fanboy. No one wants to argue with you. Go back to your Game Boy forum.
@jbrcar I drive 4vehicles by 4 makers. Who's the fanboy? If "everybody" has already read the "news", why to you insist on pretending it does not exist? You bought a lemon! Suck on it and move on. Your failed attempt to contradict fact with weak opinion does not constitute argument. But relax: the weekend is almost over, I'll be driving to work on Monday, playing with you will keep til next weekend, and you can go back to...getting a job..sorry you'll need to walk..Camry-fanboy...
I'm not sure I'm the one who needs to relax Mountain Man. Three in a row, you're on a roll. Still working? You poor slob. I retired 3 years ago and have a winter place in Cape Coral.
And how about that new "peace of mind" ad? Is it obnoxious and insulting, or simply obnoxious? Seriously though, if their numbers and prices continue to fall, a 2012 Toyota might be a good buy...maybe my 200,000+ mile American gas guzzlers will make it another 25,000 miles...but then why switch to an import?
@garyomglol "Oh, that was to conduct an engineering analysis" And we "asked, but did not force customers to sign a confidentiality agreement." LMAO!!! Before you T-Bone droolers comment here, search "Toyota accused of secretly buying back cars"... 40,000 results in 2 tenths of a seconds....read slowly my friends...
@GreenMtnHunter "we are unaware of any sudden acceleration problem. It all because of the floor mats( lets blame that and blame driver error)". "lets do a little something for the gas pedal, lets put a 25 cent metal shim in there and call it a day". Recall fixed!
And whats up with 40,000 results on buying back cars? It never happened. There must be a glitch somewhere in google search.. LMAO!
@garyomglol It seems the "25 cent shim" has silenced all of the complaints. What does that tell you about the situation? Nothing was wrong to begin with?
@dannyc9997 hmm interesting theory! Lets just disregard the "Toyota accused of secretly buying back cars", approx 40,000 results on google search. Gee, I wonder why Toyota secretly buys back cars from customers..
8 million vehicles recalled in the last year...who are you kidding? I owned a '76 Corolla in high school; it was a great car, but I wouldn't risk my family in one today!!
@GreenMtnHunter What do you drive now? Every single manufacturer has recalls, when you make millions of something, sometimes things are going to go wrong. By the way, if you did even a slight bit of research, you would know better.
@dannyc9997:: Who cares what I drive now? No single, manufacturer, domestic or imported, has recalled 7 to 8 MILLION cars in a year!!! It takes very little research to add that up! And you're right, I am not counting Firestone's tires, they were on more than just Ford...research that...
@GreenMtnHunter WOW. Ever hear of Ford ignition switch recall? And you fucking moron, the CTS pedal is on millions of other cars. Chrysler just recalled them, and the fucking Pontiac Vibe. Your the one who needs to do some research dumbass.
@dannyc9997 I never said other manufacturers have avoided recalls- just that 8 million in a year means that I wouldn't buy one and that I reject the company line.
Obviously, blind loyalty and anger management are two of your issues...did you loose your life's savings when the stock tanked, or what? Get a grip, little fella!
@GreenMtnHunter In order to have 8 million recalls in a year, you have to have sold 8 million cars recently. Toyota is the #1 manufacturer in the world, by logic the numbers are skewed and clearly you dont understand that.
@GreenMtnHunter I am the one who said other manufacturers avoid recalls. They do. I.E. the rust situation on the Tacoma models. Those frames were purchased from Chrysler, who used them on the Dakota. Many Dakota's have the EXACT same problem and chrysler does nothing about it.
@GreenMtnHunter The vibe was a gm/toyota collaberation. And you only blame toyota? Gm had no part in testing or ensuring the car was free of defects? Go to Fordfires . com
@dannyc9997 I see what you mean...if Toyota sold just 8.9 million cars, World wide, last year, and a mere Sixty (60%) percent of their models are involved in the recalls(according to the Wall Street Journal) then in order to have recalled the now "close to 10 million cars" as Peter Jennings reported on ABC two nights ago, they would have to be issuing recalls that cover at least the last two years....
@dannyc9997 cont...Don't get me wrong, if you go back to 1971 and begin with 4.5 million seat belt recalls, you can bring Ford brands up to almost 15 million recalls, and some of them were impressive, but we're talking about 40 years of recalls vs two?
@GreenMtnHunter Buddy, Ford recalled over 15 million vehicles for ignition switch fires recently. They spread the recall out over 10 years just to make it not look so bad. All of the vehicles should have been recalled at once, just like Toyota did.
@dannyc9997 Too Funny!!! My brother just got a letter recalling his Tacoma....for the undercoating!!! He had it looked at and discovered corrosion perforation "qualifies" the truck for a total frame replacement, including rear leaf springs, front suspension parts, brake lines, fuel lines.. More than $6,000 worth of work. He thinks they'll have his truck for several weeks! Moving Forward! Yup! Yup! Oh Lord won't ya buy me a Mercedes-Benz...8-)
@dannyc9997 Again...where do you make this stuff...facts? I guess they're not really important to you.... Could you try to back up any of your points with a fact?
Google, search, nothing about Dodge Dakota frames except that people think they're awesome...ONE post related to salt water....Another vehicle I'd not own; probably for good reason...like why I won't own another Toy for a long time...
@GreenMtnHunter I cannot post links on here, it wont let my post go through. there are littleraly HUNDREDS of videos on here, including an entire channel called "dodgechryslersucks" that backs my statements up.
I should have searched more than "Frame", "recalls", & "TSB's", I have seen a large pink pig (bank) and "Gas Hog" emblazoned on the sides of a dodge. I CONCEDE: "100's" understates it. Another related search opened the generic forum "my car sucks" Toy's represented less than a tenth of threads. I still won't be buying a Toy, but Ford and Doge are out too. BTW- I rented a 2010 Chry. 300 over the weekend-the seats sucked, handling in the snow was unnerving...Subaru's next.
@GreenMtnHunter No manufacturer is perfect. Not even subaru, although they have a low amount of complaints (they barely sell any cars). The point is, no matter what you buy, youll find someone who hates it.
@dannyc9997 Too true. Subaru's are gaining tho; said to be most popular in the NW. I don't have anything to back this up, but I'd be surprised if the NE is not another Subaru-popular region; they seem to be every where in this neck o' the woods. I see that Chrysler announced a 76k recall last night... Might be time to fly to Arizona and buy an early '60's Chevy....
This car it is used carefully & fully maintained , I'm an ASE certified mechanic and I know what I'm talking about, Many of the issues occur after warranty is expired. Keep in mind that if Toyota tries to correct their errors you still had a horrible experience having all this fixed UNDER WARRANTY, You loose time and a lot of nerves getting the car properly fixed, my car was kept for more than 3 months 4 repairs, I call this low quality control cheap materials & poor craftsmanship.
@morcilla13 If you were really a mechanic, you would know that every manufacturer has lemons. And thats what you had. Toyota has a lot fewer lemons than other companies but they all have them.
Toyota is the worst ever!!! I have problems with my Toyota all the freakin time! Plus I heard about all the trouble with the brakes and all! Never buy a Toyota people, just a word of advice!!! I also have a chrysler, that is ten times better than that lousy Japanese car!!
Will buy a Toyota anyday. The quality is proven. Hate all these Buy American racists. My hard earned money, I use how I want foreign or domestic. The normal claim that the money goes back to Japan, so buy US. Go ahead buy Detroit, so your damn money goes to the CEO. That's where it ends up, you idiots. GM also sells US cars overseas too, maybe other people shouldn't buy from American in their country? All the buy American idiots have one thing in common, racism running through their system.
@hank01 if you look up top gear the one with a toyota truck you will see how good the older toyota trucks are lets just say if you have not seen it that they buy a older toyota truck and try to kill it they set it on fire they put it in salt water and do so much to kill it but still runs
Do people not have common sense nowadays regarding stuck throttles. I had the throttle get jammed on my vehicle a while back, so I just put it in neutral and turned the car off and coasted to the side of the road. Then had it towed to the shop to replace the binded up throttle assembly.
More and more recalls, when will it end for Toyota!! Maybe they should follow the samurai way!!kill the company and start all over. And Name it something else like total recall!!
@Shukria123 So you would rather have a car that would unintentionally accelerate to high speeds and kill you instead of a car that breaks down a few times?
@LilApe Toyota would put out a recall on such a car, and then I would get it fixed, at their expense. And then I could get on with my life.
I used to have this Chevrolet Cavalier: I was always having to get something on the damn thing fixed, like once every 3 -4 months, laying out $800 - $1000 at a time. The hassle and expense was awful.
Just out of curiosity, what does the general public expect from the overarching term of "safety"? Is safety defined by the features that the car has to offer or is it how one feels when driving the car or is it something else? How do we define the word "safe" when it pertains to automobiles?
Toyota Sux!!!! I worked at the plant for three years, and no bitterness here folks, loved the pay and benefits. However, let me tell you America, there were quite a bit of shortcuts taken on many vehicles just to get them out the door. And from a personal standpoint, there are people In leadership positions that don't have a clue on how to properly guide and motivate people In a positive way. They just wanna produce as many vehicles, as quickly as possible.
@willtheman69 That may be the case in the U.S. my friend but you have to remember that Toyota is not a small company like Lotus, They have branches throughout the world and they may be under the same company however they are all managed differently. And since most the sales are sold here, it can easily destroy the company by a simple screw up. You have to remember technology is like ppl we all make mistakes and that's it. Ford and GM didn't admit to their recent recalls have they?
"Safe, reliable, high quality vehicles" LMFAO!!! The Toyota Prius, a model available with automatic acceleration with NO driver input required!!! FO Toyota...
Haters. I have owned a Ford Contour for years. It had a recall that didn't even effect my car and the company sent a letter explaining the issue and how it effected their cars. And as for Toyota, I have friends who will only buy Toyota. Why? Cuz their cars rock. BTW my Contour has 197,000 and going strong. I'm not saying that it is better than a Honda, unless you take into account that it is AMERICAN baby!
Awful Toyota quality. Toyota does not fix anything.
Just replacing a component can create tons of scratches and screw marks everywhere. Damages not only create by repairing pedal, but also by repairing rattesfrom dashboard, B-pillars, door panels, trunk, engine hosing, coolant pump etc. I won't buy any Toyota anymore!
@daveherbst53 I have two brand new 2010 Toyotas. They are Corolla and Carmy. They all have rattles all around the interior and of course the infamous AT jerking issue and smelly A/C. Both of my Toyotas have been brought back by Toyota already. I am so happy that I got a brand new Honda without those issues. The headquarter didn't care about customers too!
you guys are desperate! i thought i would be buying a good high quality toyota product but yet when i picked up my camry the center console and the dashboard was making a squeaky noise.
Toyota, moving forward? More like moving to cover their asses. I used to be a Toyota fan, but after all the cover up crap and trying to deceive the public, I can't say that we can ever trust Toyota again. If you cover up once, you can cover up problems twice.
I work for Toyota and I love their cars. Funny how none of the cars never accelerate by itself at my work and we drive hundreds a day. Everyone I know of that has a Toyota never seems to have that problem that they're saying on the news. Many of the cars are 2010 Prius.
Experts say the sudden acceleration problem that has put the brakes on Toyota sales and production is likely not a single problem but an alignment of complicated interconnected conditions.
Nothing illustrates that more than the contradictory statements from the two companies involved. Toyota Motor Corp. is telling the government that it thinks a friction problem in its accelerator pedal mechanisms may make the pedal "harder to depress, slower to return, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck
@kyle887923 you are a complete idiot "m not going to drive a car that i cant trust to stop properly or one that will put someone in my country out of work" most american cars suck ass.. and it doesnt matter if you buy an "american car" 80% of the car probably doesnt even come from america..
Ironically, "Japanese" made cars contain 60-80% of US/Canadian content, whereas "American" made cars only contain about 30% of US/Canadian content and are produced in Mexico. Imo, "Japanese" cars are more American than "American" cars.
Dude, you need to know that the United States is probably the biggest outsourcer in the world. they provide people jobs from different countries all over the world and then suddenly the hoop whole in our economy has caught up to us. I didn't hear much from China when this economy crashed. And besides people would appreciate Toyota more if they have been to another country were they have cars that don't exist here yet they are 10 times better than the cars we have here.
I agree, all companies make mistakes, and Toyota does makes reliable cars. But the truth is no one buys a Toyota for its looks, they buy it for its reputation/quality. With that said, since 2005 under Alan Mulally's leadership, Ford Motor Company has restructured and has been making their cars just as successful as their trucks. The award winning Ford Fusion is proof of this. So far in 2010, Ford has sold more cars than any other automaker...seriously, Google it!)
@FordGT8806 I've always liked ford. But they should of ALWAYS stayed to their roots and followed upon Henry fords philosophy. Just think if the man was still running the company today how good their cars would of always been.
This commercial is a slap in the face to the families and loved ones of all the people who have been killed and injured by these cars. Pretty music and all.
you must be "too big of a moron" to realise that once throttle is WOT, no vacuum will be produced. Two or 3 pumps of the brake pedal ie PANICKING will completely deplete any vacuum assist from out of the canister. pray tell, oh moron, when the vacuum will be restored? when the throttle closes? which DOESNT happen on these faulty assed Toyotas gone wild! Stop being a douchescrote. Toyota is the new GM... sales volume focussed, cutthroat politics, moronic koolaid drinking customer base. thx4reply
I worked for a Toyota dealership as detailer and assistant mechanic for a year once, I never saw these issues in any thing, problems with other cars though but I'll say besides mechanical fault, there's human error here if people can't check to see if a floor mat is obstructing something so important. I've even got my chevy stuck in this predicament with an aftermarket rubber mat that froze into a curve from frigid winters. People just need to be safer lookout.
if you gas pedal gets stuck and your a big enough dumb ass not putting it into neutral your basically asking for it
Toyota is a good company sure there going through tough times right now and they messed up big time but does that mean they dont get a second chance I mean common at least their cars were reliable before
Every car company has a recall one time or another. Toyota, indeed has been one of the most reliable companies. The fact that people's gas pedal gets stuck in the floor mat and they don't think of moving or removing the floor mat but rather sue the car company speaks of high intelligence. And when the company responds and comes out with a fix then people attack the company. Come on, people, get a life!
leave toyota alone , those cars been recalled were made in usa with a faulty part from indiana , i know the'll fix the problems , they been reliable for a long time , and if you dont like it , then buy a ford and see how long it will last you.
i guess they designed the system but they didn't want people to die in the process... when it comes to people's lives, there is just no room for error but to err is human... that's just my point and i just stated facts. so you never made mistakes before? i hate it when people think they are perfect when the fact is nobody is perfect. i'm just saying that no car manufacturer is perfect.
people make cars... people make mistakes... that's just how it is for me. i drive a camry and i say i was scared before i returned it for repairs but i knew what to do if my accelerator pedal got stuck. they got time to call 911 but they never thought about putting the lever to neutral...
only thing i can say i honestly "Hate" about Toyota's is the oil filter location in my 2000 tacoma. i dont know about the newer models tho.

Be calm...... breathe deep and slow

The only way that could happen is if the gas pedal was actually depressed.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997said," He basically set the system up as if the gas pedal was depressed normally. The only way that could happen is if the gas pedal was actually depressed."
Reply: I realize space here is limited, and you surely did not mean to imply that the test represented actual driver input...that would make a point opposing your conspiracy theory, right....?
And I am far from average-lets get back to research; tired of waiting for any, single, referential fact to support your p.o.v.
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter Seriously? How about Forbes stating that nearly all of the tested data recorded indicate that no brake pressure was applied during the so called "unintended acceleration" accidents? Or how about the fact that not a soul from the NHSTA could find a defect in the ETC system?

@GreenMtnHunter
You are truly stupid. That's harsh, but in your case true.
jbrcar 1 year ago
@jbrcar That's the best you can do? Call me stupid? Have you watched this apology? Have you been reading anything? See Consumer Reports 12/1/2010. They are now reporting a NEW Toyota TSB which "directs dealer service departments to repair the bracket to which the accelerator assembly mounts, which it says "may have become damaged" during the first recall " Btw C.R. LOVES Toyota and in Oct.reinstated " the recommendations for eight Toyota models that the automaker recalled in January."

And how about that new "peace of mind" ad? Is it obnoxious and insulting, or simply obnoxious? Seriously though, if their numbers and prices continue to fall, a 2012 Toyota might be a good buy...maybe my 200,000+ mile American gas guzzlers will make it another 25,000 miles...but then why switch to an import?

hey Toyota, what's up with secretly buying back cars that had sudden acceleration?
garyomglol 1 year ago
@garyomglol "Oh, that was to conduct an engineering analysis" And we "asked, but did not force customers to sign a confidentiality agreement." LMAO!!! Before you T-Bone droolers comment here, search "Toyota accused of secretly buying back cars"... 40,000 results in 2 tenths of a seconds....read slowly my friends...
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter "we are unaware of any sudden acceleration problem. It all because of the floor mats( lets blame that and blame driver error)". "lets do a little something for the gas pedal, lets put a 25 cent metal shim in there and call it a day". Recall fixed!
And whats up with 40,000 results on buying back cars? It never happened. There must be a glitch somewhere in google search.. LMAO!
garyomglol 1 year ago
@garyomglol It seems the "25 cent shim" has silenced all of the complaints. What does that tell you about the situation? Nothing was wrong to begin with?
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 hmm interesting theory! Lets just disregard the "Toyota accused of secretly buying back cars", approx 40,000 results on google search. Gee, I wonder why Toyota secretly buys back cars from customers..
garyomglol 1 year ago
8 million vehicles recalled in the last year...who are you kidding? I owned a '76 Corolla in high school; it was a great car, but I wouldn't risk my family in one today!!
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter What do you drive now? Every single manufacturer has recalls, when you make millions of something, sometimes things are going to go wrong. By the way, if you did even a slight bit of research, you would know better.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997:: Who cares what I drive now? No single, manufacturer, domestic or imported, has recalled 7 to 8 MILLION cars in a year!!! It takes very little research to add that up! And you're right, I am not counting Firestone's tires, they were on more than just Ford...research that...
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter WOW. Ever hear of Ford ignition switch recall? And you fucking moron, the CTS pedal is on millions of other cars. Chrysler just recalled them, and the fucking Pontiac Vibe. Your the one who needs to do some research dumbass.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 I never said other manufacturers have avoided recalls- just that 8 million in a year means that I wouldn't buy one and that I reject the company line.
Obviously, blind loyalty and anger management are two of your issues...did you loose your life's savings when the stock tanked, or what? Get a grip, little fella!
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter In order to have 8 million recalls in a year, you have to have sold 8 million cars recently. Toyota is the #1 manufacturer in the world, by logic the numbers are skewed and clearly you dont understand that.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter I am the one who said other manufacturers avoid recalls. They do. I.E. the rust situation on the Tacoma models. Those frames were purchased from Chrysler, who used them on the Dakota. Many Dakota's have the EXACT same problem and chrysler does nothing about it.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 btw...The Pontiac Vibe is a Toyota Matrix....should we add those recalls to the Toyota figures? Damn...more research....8-}
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter The vibe was a gm/toyota collaberation. And you only blame toyota? Gm had no part in testing or ensuring the car was free of defects? Go to Fordfires . com
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 I see what you mean...if Toyota sold just 8.9 million cars, World wide, last year, and a mere Sixty (60%) percent of their models are involved in the recalls(according to the Wall Street Journal) then in order to have recalled the now "close to 10 million cars" as Peter Jennings reported on ABC two nights ago, they would have to be issuing recalls that cover at least the last two years....
Running outa characters....
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 cont...Don't get me wrong, if you go back to 1971 and begin with 4.5 million seat belt recalls, you can bring Ford brands up to almost 15 million recalls, and some of them were impressive, but we're talking about 40 years of recalls vs two?
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter Buddy, Ford recalled over 15 million vehicles for ignition switch fires recently. They spread the recall out over 10 years just to make it not look so bad. All of the vehicles should have been recalled at once, just like Toyota did.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 Too Funny!!! My brother just got a letter recalling his Tacoma....for the undercoating!!! He had it looked at and discovered corrosion perforation "qualifies" the truck for a total frame replacement, including rear leaf springs, front suspension parts, brake lines, fuel lines.. More than $6,000 worth of work. He thinks they'll have his truck for several weeks! Moving Forward! Yup! Yup! Oh Lord won't ya buy me a Mercedes-Benz...8-)
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter If he owned a Dodge Dakota, he would be facing the same problem with no help from Dodge.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 Again...where do you make this stuff...facts? I guess they're not really important to you.... Could you try to back up any of your points with a fact?
Google, search, nothing about Dodge Dakota frames except that people think they're awesome...ONE post related to salt water....Another vehicle I'd not own; probably for good reason...like why I won't own another Toy for a long time...
Come on Danny! Back it up or give it up!

@GreenMtnHunter I cannot post links on here, it wont let my post go through. there are littleraly HUNDREDS of videos on here, including an entire channel called "dodgechryslersucks" that backs my statements up.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997
GreenMtnHunter 1 year ago
@GreenMtnHunter No manufacturer is perfect. Not even subaru, although they have a low amount of complaints (they barely sell any cars). The point is, no matter what you buy, youll find someone who hates it.
dannyc9997 1 year ago
@dannyc9997 Too true. Subaru's are gaining tho; said to be most popular in the NW. I don't have anything to back this up, but I'd be surprised if the NE is not another Subaru-popular region; they seem to be every where in this neck o' the woods. I see that Chrysler announced a 76k recall last night... Might be time to fly to Arizona and buy an early '60's Chevy....

This car it is used carefully & fully maintained , I'm an ASE certified mechanic and I know what I'm talking about, Many of the issues occur after warranty is expired. Keep in mind that if Toyota tries to correct their errors you still had a horrible experience having all this fixed UNDER WARRANTY, You loose time and a lot of nerves getting the car properly fixed, my car was kept for more than 3 months 4 repairs, I call this low quality control cheap materials & poor craftsmanship.
morcilla13 1 year ago

Do people not have common sense nowadays regarding stuck throttles. I had the throttle get jammed on my vehicle a while back, so I just put it in neutral and turned the car off and coasted to the side of the road. Then had it towed to the shop to replace the binded up throttle assembly.

I'd rather have a Toyota with three recalls on it than the best American car ever made.
I used to own a Chevy and it was an awful car: about every 4 months something major - like the whole transmission - would go it.
Shukria123 1 year ago
@Shukria123 So you would rather have a car that would unintentionally accelerate to high speeds and kill you instead of a car that breaks down a few times?
LilApe 1 year ago
@LilApe Toyota would put out a recall on such a car, and then I would get it fixed, at their expense. And then I could get on with my life.
I used to have this Chevrolet Cavalier: I was always having to get something on the damn thing fixed, like once every 3 -4 months, laying out $800 - $1000 at a time. The hassle and expense was awful.

Just out of curiosity, what does the general public expect from the overarching term of "safety"? Is safety defined by the features that the car has to offer or is it how one feels when driving the car or is it something else? How do we define the word "safe" when it pertains to automobiles?
fullyforum 1 year ago
Toyota Sux!!!! I worked at the plant for three years, and no bitterness here folks, loved the pay and benefits. However, let me tell you America, there were quite a bit of shortcuts taken on many vehicles just to get them out the door. And from a personal standpoint, there are people In leadership positions that don't have a clue on how to properly guide and motivate people In a positive way. They just wanna produce as many vehicles, as quickly as possible.
willtheman69 1 year ago
@willtheman69 That may be the case in the U.S. my friend but you have to remember that Toyota is not a small company like Lotus, They have branches throughout the world and they may be under the same company however they are all managed differently. And since most the sales are sold here, it can easily destroy the company by a simple screw up. You have to remember technology is like ppl we all make mistakes and that's it. Ford and GM didn't admit to their recent recalls have they?

Awful Toyota quality. Toyota does not fix anything.
Just replacing a component can create tons of scratches and screw marks everywhere. Damages not only create by repairing pedal, but also by repairing rattesfrom dashboard, B-pillars, door panels, trunk, engine hosing, coolant pump etc. I won't buy any Toyota anymore!

and how many North American made cars have you heard of the brakes not working or the car accelerating when it isnt supposed to?
Obviously most Toyota's dont have this problem, but the fact that over 2000 do, shows a deffinit clinical error
kyle887923 1 year ago
Experts say the sudden acceleration problem that has put the brakes on Toyota sales and production is likely not a single problem but an alignment of complicated interconnected conditions.
Nothing illustrates that more than the contradictory statements from the two companies involved. Toyota Motor Corp. is telling the government that it thinks a friction problem in its accelerator pedal mechanisms may make the pedal "harder to depress, slower to return, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck

I didn't hear much from China when this economy crashed. And besides people would appreciate Toyota more if they have been to another country were they have cars that don't exist here yet they are 10 times better than the cars we have here.
Toyotafan312 1 year ago
@Toyotafan31

I worked for a Toyota dealership as detailer and assistant mechanic for a year once, I never saw these issues in any thing, problems with other cars though but I'll say besides mechanical fault, there's human error here if people can't check to see if a floor mat is obstructing something so important. Toyota is a good company sure there going through tough times right now and they messed up big time but does that mean they dont get a second chance I mean common at least their cars were reliable before
sonyericson20 2 years ago
Every car company has a recall one time or another. Toyota, indeed has been one of the most reliable companies. The fact that people's gas pedal gets stuck in the floor mat and they don't think of moving or removing the floor mat but rather sue the car company speaks of high intelligence. And when the company responds and comes out with a fix then people attack the company. Come on, people, get a life!

i guess they designed the system but they didn't want people to die in the process... when it comes to people's lives, there is just no room for error but to err is human... that's just my point and i just stated facts. so you never made mistakes before? i hate it when people think they are perfect when the fact is nobody is perfect. i'm just saying that no car manufacturer is perfect.

people make cars... people make mistakes... that's just how it is for me. i drive a camry and i say i was scared before i returned it for repairs but i knew what to do if my accelerator pedal got stuck. they got time to call 911 but they never thought about putting the lever to neutral...
