I don't think the makers of the video had any specific words in mind, it's just a metaphor concerning the way life is in his mind, which if he shared it, would surely leave them laying there as well. This would of course be very hard (unless you some sort of superhuman poet) to convey through words.
I don't think it's that they do it to themselves cause they won't leave him alone, though that might certainly be a symbol for how, thats what you get when you keep going after knowledge.
These guys are genius, :D up there with the best of them. Those who question this are afraid of their music and don't understand what good music is. Radiohead encompass everything I like in a band, creativity, lyrics, vocals, change, and depth. They got it all! Thom Yorke is amazing as well as Greenwood and the rest of the gang, very inspiring. ^_^
this song is great, the lyrics match the idea of the video perfectly. and the bass line is great, it slowly gets higher and higher until it reaches a peak then just dissapears, except for the last time when it stays really high for a while then seems to completely fall apart.

I think that the idea of this video is not what the man said, but instead the fact that the people wanted it too much. The idea is that we strive so much for something, that we are eventually consumed by it. The man lying on the floor represented that something. In fact, it could be possible that he simply said something like "On second thought, I won't tell you" and the people were so broken down by that, they simply dropped to the floor. He must've figured it out: We might never reach our goal

Pretty good. If you listen to the words and watch the video all the damage we do we do to ourselves no matter who or what tries to help us. He warned them and told them to go away. but people on a whole drag themselves into misery even when they are warned it will turn out bad. We push and push until we ourselves are destroyed in a way. either physically or mentally. The question remains though that when we do it how many do we take with us

I don't think the makers of the video had any specific words in mind, it's just a metaphor concerning the way life is in his mind, which if he shared it, would surely leave them laying there as well. This would of course be very hard (unless you some sort of superhuman poet) to convey through words.
I don't think it's that they do it to themselves cause they won't leave him alone, though that might certainly be a symbol for how, thats what you get when you keep going after knowledge.

These guys are genius, :D up there with the best of them. Those who question this are afraid of their music and don't understand what good music is. Radiohead encompass everything I like in a band, creativity, lyrics, vocals, change, and depth. They got it all! Thom Yorke is amazing as well as Greenwood and the rest of the gang, very inspiring. ^_^

this song is great, the lyrics match the idea of the video perfectly. and the bass line is great, it slowly gets higher and higher until it reaches a peak then just dissapears, except for the last time when it stays really high for a while then seems to completely fall apart.

I reckon it symbolises greed, the fact that everyone insists he tells them why he's on the ground even though he tells them that they really don't want to know and that they'd regret it. Either that or else he said: "well there's a wierd looking cloud"

I'm sure this was based on an old 'Twilight Zone' episode (or something similar). There is an episode of the old 50's show with the same story - I don't think you ever find out why he was lying on the ground either!

Yeah, I read that, it was a joke, the post said "If you lay down and look over there, you can see Radiohead playing up in that window", obviously a joke, because, if I recall correctly, it was followed by a "lol".

...well i just read something and appearently a deaf person said that all he is saying is "you want to know?...i'll tell you...i'll tell you..." over and over again,...and since he can read lips, i kinda believe that, and even if its not that then i dont think radiohead would put in life changing words in a video, i personally think its for entertainment, please dont hate on this :/
