It does make sense to compare. Just because John is famous doesn't mean he has a better voice. That's like saying in this case that Kesha or Britney Spears has a better voice than Crystal Bowersox, which is also on this show. Alex just sounds better on this song, his voice matches it more. I loved this song as sung by JL from the first time I heard it. But I also like the simplicity of AL's rendition. I won't go as far as to say that AL's version is "a million times bttr" but he does enunciate the words clearer, making it more heartfelt.

JL, as a singer, is more technically sound but in this case, AL's rendition is more heartfelt.
