The Simpsons has out-lived them all. But I'd say that most of all I miss Married with Children and Parker Lewis.
A shame they couldn't do a spin-off of those two shows where Bud is Kelly's manager, who works for a modeling company, and is miserably married to his own wife who leeches off him, while Parker would be his best friend and neighbor, more or less happily married to Annie Sloan from the series, who gets Bud in and out of trouble. *sigh* It's fun to dream. >_>
@MFDOOM1415 Heh, I completely forgot about that show and OVERLOOKED it in this promo. Considering it wasn't a sitcom...at least most of the time. Plus, it's reruns are shown on other stations like FX and Trutv, so it's kind of hard to put the Fox brand on it. I can't believe they still have that show running after all this time!
Let's see, Bart Simpson, Kelley Bundy (Christina Appelgate), Parker Lewis (Corin Nemec), Keenan Ivory Waynes, The guy that played Herman in Herman's Head, John Walsh, Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal), Not sure who the black kid is, but I think the older woman is Dr. Ruth, Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill), Bud Bundy (David Faustino), Chris Elliott, Mikey from Parker Lewis (not sure the name), Homer Simpson, COPS, Marge Simpson, Wow. . .too many people to name. . .anyone else care to figure out who else is there?
@thebigrene1972 uh ok man. If you want to feel nostalgic for a great depression ridden and antisemitic decade go ahead. By all means. Don't let me stop you
@thebigrene1972 over the 90's movies and especially music? I've heard people say they want live in the 50's, 70's, and 80's but never have I EVER heard anyone say 30's
I don't think I was supposed to watch the Simpsons at age 9 but I did. I will 29 soon and I am still watching it. In Living Color on Sunday nights were the best.
@Ohsta6t2 Bart was just more relatable to the kids than Homer (even though this wasn't meant to be a kids show in the first place). You can sell more Bart stuff. If you look at the first season the show was mainly focused on satirizing the typical dysfunctional family. Over the years it tried to stay topical so the focus wasn't on that anymore.
Wow, FOX has changed throughout the years. But, at least the Simpsons and COPS are still on. On the other hand, the Simpsons will be going away within a couple of years.
It's all subjective. His modern form is funny as hell, but I found his older personality more believable as a person you could actually meet in real life. I enjoyed the dynamic that he actually worried about what people thought of him and his family, and was always stressing out over status.
But most of all, even though he was dumb, he was believable as an ADULT, which made Bart's role as "problem child" more convincing than it is now.
You know, that's what people always say---that Bart was the main character at first. But it's not really not that true. Yes, Bart WAS the star as far as the media was concerned, and almost all of the merchandise was focused on him in the beginning. Definitely. But when you look at the actual stories themselves, Bart-centric plots didn''t have much of an edge over Homer-centric plots, and are outnumbered by Homer-centric combined with other characters' stories.
Fox sure was the stuff back then. The majority of the schedule was ruled by its former kids block during the daytime, then at night "The Simpsons" and other shows. I mean what happened to it now, I mean it was at the top of its game which it still is now, but it heavily relies on American Idol too much and shows crappy shows like Family Guy and American Dad. With cable competion coming from all directions and stealing the audience (USA, TNT), the network might as well transform itself into one.
I remember when me and my sister would get excited when the simpson's came on. We tried to watch it at the laundromat when we were 5&7, but the bitch at the counter quickly changed the channel and said y'all can watch that at home, but turned around and let the little bebe' kids watch it. I'm so glad that I didn't know what prejudice was at that age.
*sniff* Watching this makes me feel so depressed cause of how much I miss the days when The Simpsons were good and Family Guy didn't exist. Makes me wish I could just stay in the 90's forever.
God, I can't believe the Simpson turn 20 this year. It seems just like yesterday that FOX was this little fledgling network that could. 21 Jump Street, Married With Children, the Tracy Ullman Show, the Gary Shandling Show, Alien Nation. Good times, man. I remember after my mom found out Bart said "Damn" in an episode, she forbade me from watching the Simpsons. I had to sneek to watch it & got caught one night. She gave me the lecture of my life. lol
@vjmlhds With Law and Order airing its final episode this week, they are now the only three prime-time shows from the time of this promo that are still airing new episodes on network TV.

I do too (darn Fox getting the NFL, lol). I hope My Network TV produce some new episodes, I know they've started airing the best episodes from the show.
Well, MyNetTV does have kind of a throwback to the old FOX days come fall. WWE's Friday Night SmackDown is coming, first time any FOX outlet aired a WWE program in about 16 years (anyone remember when FOX picked up Saturday Night's Main Event?).
