The Octopus has eight legs and it used to take eight wins to win the cup.. So back in the day the owners of a fish market threw one on the ice for luck and its stuck ever since then...
One of the best traditions in sports cause it's so unique.
theres a lot more stupid traditions. think about it. and yes my defense is how many stanley cups does detroit have. so shut the hell up. it may be stupid to some people but its a tradition here. and if you wanna talk about retarded how about the blackhawks song. now thats retarded.

ha.. the wings suck ass this year. this is one ridiculous traidion ever. and not to mention is is extremely gay and stupid. i hate the Wings to heart. LETS GO PANTHERS. sure we may have no cups with us.. but.. we are the better of the florida teams. despite our points total. we just won a few days ago in Tampa.. oh and.. WE BEAT YOUR PRECIOUS wings this year in DET. 2 to 1 in OT.
@salliusgrode stfu, your team is garbage anyways, why come on a video about red wings and talk shit, you should go on your teams shitty videos and try to defend them because they need it.
@G0odf3lla The tradition that florida did was way more epic than this, i mean fans threw thousands of fake rats on to the ice EVERY time they scored at home in 96' im not a panthers fans, but thousands of fake rats are way more epic than a fucking octopus
@G0odf3lla At the beginning of the season a rat came on to the ice right before the game and 1 of the players one timed the live rat into the boards and killed it, and in that same game that player scored 3 goals, which they ccalled the rat trick so from then on they threw fake rats onto the ice every time they scored at home, it grew from around 30 every goal to over thousands in the playoffs, until the NHL eventually banned it the next year

Ok. I am a Redwings supporter from England.
Can you explain to me why you threw an Octupus onto the ice?
aboricardo1992 2 years ago
Tradition. In the days of "The Original Six", a team had to win eight games in the playoffs to claim the Stanley Cup.

I could safely get it over. I HOPE! haha... Still hoping to make it become true.
