I'm the grey/white haired git in dark suit walking just in front of the bus. It was effing cold that day and the outside scenes were filmed at Kempton Park raceway. The inside scenes at Ascot. It was equally effing cold inside there too as the heating had been switched off. Lol.
Sorry to break it to you, but Virgin's uniforms back in the 80's actually really weren't that attractive. At all. It was like an air force uniform dipped in red.
This is a brilliant advert. I remember it all like it was yesterday, look at all those '80s icons- Leyland national bus, austin princess, miner's strike, yuppy braces, brick phones, rubicks cube, our price etc.
One of the best ads I have seen in ages. I think flying should be as sexy as it was in those days. Makes you remember how much you missed from the eighties!! (Wimpy and Our Price!!) :)
I worked as cabin crew for Dan-Air out of Gatwick in the 80's and this ad certainly brings back memories. We were all dead jealous of the Virgin crews uniforms - said to have been designed by Armani. Also, rumour had it, in the early days of Virgin Atlantic, Richard Branson held his staff Christmas party at his house- all welcome! Those were the days!!
This is a refereshing advert. Brings back happy memories of the 1980's (many good, some bad - unemployment particularly boo hoo). I hope that the little boy finished his Rubic's Cube, I have completed mine a few times but blooming difficult, I must say! Anyone know which remix of "Relax" is used here?
I was a businesman 'extra' on this advert. The outside shots were filmed at Kempton Park and inside at Ascot. It was effing cold on all fiming days but jolly good fun :-)
Klokwurx, you are a bit of a perfectionist, a real good keen eye is what we need, i'd like to hire you at my firm. Especially with your eye for detail. call 01438 231844
The first mobile phone call was not made until 1985 in the UK ,plus the miners strike was several months old in June 1984. Its a fantasy version of the 80s by someone who is probably not old enough to remember the time.
Hiflyingdad, I agree completely - I was a teenager in the 80s and thought this ad was fabulous! Who cares if the the paper date is a few months out? Talk about pedantic!
Sucking your mums tit ,and having your arse wiped. I worked in the square mile then, and still do, and passed through Heathrow many times. If Disney world had a 1984 theme ride, it would look like this.
Its adverts like this that gets your foot tapping and puts a big smile on your face. Oh happy times they were the 80's. Wish it was longer as could watch it over and over again. Thanks for posting and a good job on the quality of the video.
I wish the female cabin crew looked as good as that now. Long live the 80's brilliant advert. Hats off to Sir Richard Branson and Virgin . A self made man done good.

Yes ,so is the Monty Python lumberjack sketch.
No doubt an accurate portrayal of the typical Canadian male.
