  • So will a pellet gun/ bb gun kill someone?

  • @Nero619ful You take a shot to the eye with either of these air rifles and it could/would kill you.

  • Have you shot any .22 pellets that weighed 14.3 grains at the gel, with a velocity around the 600 feet per second mark? If you did, how well did they penetrate the gel?

  • old guns: you will put your eye out, new guns: you will kill somebody

  • what is the best pellet for the pumpmaster 760

  • If you disassemble the crossman pumpmaster and stretch the spring and heat it it will be able to pump it up more and fire at higher velocity

  • @LAWOFC956 Does that work for all pellet guns?

  • @TheNewbpowner123 I recommend crossman destroyers they are awesome

  • @reggieandnoah109 Those destroyers really hit harder than any other pellet I have tried. But they don't group well at all. But if you do connect on a pest its game over. Little sparrows just explode.

  • can you use the pellets again??

  • what 4.5 mm pellet do you recommend for a german haenel 303?

i dont mind about light or heavy, just that its good stuff...

  • im curiuos to touch the slimy thing

  • Will the Crosman Competition grade pellet be a good 'man stopper' because of it's flat nose?

  • lol i have the exact same guns as him ( exempt the gamo is the smaller version )

but its pretty much the same

  • @harriot870 destroyer ex pellets are pointed and have an expanding hollow ridge and will kill any small game u shoot it with

  • Great video! - Please, what is the recipe for ballistic gelatin

  • I got the huntmaster. I love it

  • my favorite TN video, LOL

i still shoot my red rider daily, its over 25 years old

  • Do you remember where you got your info on making that gel?

    Cool video!

  • Same exact gin the one with the brown and black stock and pump plus green sight at the very front

  • same exact guns i got

  • nice test now i know that pellet penetrates more than bb. good test

  • Very nice testing. People underestimate pellet guns all the time. The funny thing is the GAMO Silver Shadow Supreme is about standard power for a air rifle at 12-14 foot pounds or so. You can get much more power from a air rifle all the way up to 200+ foot pounds I have a Benjamin Marauder Air Pistol tuned to 25 foot pounds great gun & 8 shots to back me up. Air guns are definitely not toys & should never be treated like toys.

  • I have the crossman but it's not an accurate gun. I've begun using the Vantage 1200 instead, more power and accuracy, though it won't shoot BBs.

  • how did you make the ballistics??

  • For the intelligent people out there: I am looking for a 4.5 mm airrifle (legal ofcourse), ofcourse I would like the best one there is, accurate and able to kill rodent, good enough to get a clean shot on a pigeon. I live in Holland and a werry good site that I use is: hesvanzweeden.nl

  • @meenksellaan1 You'll want something with atleast 10 foot pounds or more.

  • aye... ok I think I am going to buy the 4.5 mm weihrauch, pretty nice gun.

  • i have the crossman 760 and pumped it 4 times and i shot my fence and the bb rickashed off the fence and came back and hit my tooth!

  • 4 inches .... or 10 cm ... enough to shot a man in heart or head ... be reeealy carefull so dont mess around if you are not 18yo or higher :-)

  • i also have a pumpmaster

how many pumps did u do for the crosman?

  • i also have a pumpmaster

  • one question what was the feet away when you used the crossman with the copper bb.. it just didnt say how far away you were?

  • @StrictlyTactical

I was on my deck, so 15-20 feet.

  • can you youse the pellets again

  • @DaN1el96

Possibly the PBA, but I wouldn't try it.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Wait, The master point are the best penetrating pellets, what about the magnum. I heard the magnums packed a bit more of a punch than the master points. Also, which is your favorite pellet for hunting small game.

  • @DaN1el96 No

  • thats such a riddiculous comparison, but i like it cause i have the 760 LULZ

  • "...I guess you could it ballistic bacon." hahaha wtf?

  • only problem is this isnt a valid test as the temperature would have rose making the gel softer for the second test so a pointless test but i see where your coming from

  • @tonykart40

It is virtually impossible to keep the same block at the same temp, unless it goes back into the regrigerator. I don't recall doing that on this test. Ballistic gel is the holy grail of ammo testing, but I'm going to start using SIM-TEST in Feb. 2011. It is the next best thing, perhaps better in some regard.

  • 100th like :)

  • Would you recommend the 760 Pumpmaster Air Carbine? And if so, what do you recomend we shot @ with this gun? Birds? Rabbit?squirrels? Ex.? Thx 4 the great vid.

  • i did a ballistic test with chinese made .177 pellets and an old benjamin franklin air rifle. i filled up 3 soda cans of water and put a pie tin behind it to slow down the pellet even more and it went through it all plus 5 inch thick Styrofoam that i was hoping would catch it. so even an old one with bad ammo can kill

  • yes, the master point is their best penatrator, but their match pellet is their best destructive one :P

  • @Pageyindahouse

    Eventually, yes.

  • Would the cross man 760 penetrate human skin

  • @Tman4561

Yes. I know, because someone shot me with one when I was a teenager. About 60 yards away and I was hit in the stomach. My parents called the cops on him, just to scare him.

  • @tnoutdoors9 would a crossman 66 pwrmaster or a daisy model 15 xt co2 pistol peirce human skin?

  • @tnoutdoors9 would you please send me a message for how to make your ballistic gel? thank you!

  • @Tman4561

Very much so. If the BBs were any larger, 3 or 4 inches of penetration can be a fatal wound.

  • @Tman4561 Why would you want to know!

  • @MCGCRifleman My stupid friend wanted to use in in an air soft war....I was proving that it would be to dangerous.

  • howd you make the gel

  • @commentervideoman

I'll post that in the description.

  • for me when i shoot my baby desert eagle bb gun pistol (480fps Co2) i were safety glasses simply because one day when i was shooting the bb gun. the bb bounced back from the fence (too close) and hit the glasses but that glasses didn't crack them. so every time when i'm going to be shooting i will alway be wearing safety glasses simply because i don:t want to loose an eye.

  • @nebula25x

    Agreed, or even zombie larvae.

  • @tnoutdoors9 did you mold that gell in an ammo can

  • @killa123211

YES. It was probably too large a block for air rifle testing, but I wanted to get more than one test without impacting previous shot paths.

  • how does the gel compare to flesh or skin? would a air rifle be a good varmint rifle?

  • @Mo7Vsta it depends on what you want to shoot. as long as it has about 600 fps of power and from no more than 6 or so yards and its a clean head shot it should be fine.

  • Interesting I was given a .22 spanish spring piston air rifle a few years ago by a friend who got bored with it. I have never shot anything thicker than tin cans though.

  • can you test hot 25 acp rounds, i have heard of rounds that boost its stopping power.

  • @1942nuclear

Sorry, I don't have access to any .25 guns. I'll ask around, but as much as I have been shooting with friends, I don't recall seeing anything on the shooting table below .380 .

  • nice video, and this way i have an idea how it compared to my glycerin clear soap blocks. i found that the temperture of my soap blocks changed depth of penetration, so i keep it 70 degrees for tests so my hollow points will desplay expansion. i have baking clay i shoot and harden in oven for pemanent dispays for hollow point tests. its 265 deg. for 15 min. comes out like a rock.

  • Nice video since a lot of us started with air-pressure guns!

  • Nice relaxing video, thanks for posting.

  • thx for the meters :D

  • The results surprised me. I really didn't think a 760 BB would go anywhere near that deep. Based on your past videos I was sort of expecting a grand finale using a .556mm on the test media remnants. Thank you again for your well made videos.

  • @ArtisanTony

Have not seen it yet, I've been out all day. Should get posted.

  • nice video, more power than you think

  • Good vid... I'm going to call you the mythbuster of ammo!!

  • i ggot that bb gun lol

  • Thanks for the informative video

  • Nice, Alex and I have used jello just for fun. I wish they would come up with a clear gel so we could see the progress of the BB.

  • As always very informative and awesome. I have never seen a balistic gel test done on air rifles...

  • @Dietzeeeee

There are only a few air rifle ballistic gel tests on YouTube, at least from my searches.

  • Very, very cool test. Good enough to kill squirrels and birds based on my experience as a kid. The gammo could kill a human being no doubt.

  • Great test 5*

  • Damn I was kinda hoping for the red ryder haha.. the first "wood stock" I remember back in the day as a child.. I am glad I was introduced to bb/pellet guns as a child because it has helped me a lot with firearms handling.

  • Awesome vid, can't wait for some cartridge evals using the ballistics gel.

  • For spring guns, a longer barrel does not necessarily mean it will give it more velocity as spring guns do not push out a lot of air as PCP and pump pneumatics or CO2 does. If you were to have a PCP air rifle, a longer barrel most of the time means it will have more velocity due to similar characteristics like powder expanding more through the length of the barrel.

  • does this mean you might run some test with gelatin?

  • @eamonher

YES. Several factors must converge at the right moment. There won't be as many of those as jug tests, mainly due to costs. Because of that, I will only run those for "best of the best" in premium ammo....in all calibers that I test now and plan to test in the future. And a spoiler....the 9mm Speer Gold Dot 124 +P will probably be the first one.

  • I have that same Crossman rife mine does not look as good as yours does but mine is over 20 years old. I got it for Christmas one year I will try to make a video and post it.

  • @jdh10475

My Crosman is very sub-standard compared to those 20-30 years ago. I had a 760 in the late 70's, when they were made of steel and wood. The one I showed here is mostly plastic. At the store, I asked the clerk to check the box, as i swore it was empty; it's a lightweight. A small jar of jelly probably weighs more. Absolutely, post a video of it.

  • very interesting. will that gel melt into liquid after awhile or is it a solid forever?

  • @multicam2000

It will dehydrate for certain. Left indoors, I've seen it mold. Outdoors in the sun, dries up like potato chips. It could be interesting to make a short video on "The 12 G-Rated Uses for Left-Over Ballistic Gel". You know, spreading some on toast, a pizza topping, etc. Something warped, but educational satire. Ok, I'm all over it.

  • Cool video..and strangely enough, me and you wore the same shirt today..lol

  • @huntwithairguns

I'll wash it and send it back to you in a couple of days.....

  • with the 760 my friend and i pumped it to 75 and its pretty loud for a bb gun

  • Good info. I'm curious if these high power air rifles are as loud or louder than low velocity .22s, like Super Colibri.

  • @ReDact45 louder

  • Nice.

  • this has been a topic most hasn't covered yet, but I guess it's VERY important that you did.

You see, the average age for Youtube users is on the 13+kids.

Basically, the perfect target for such a eye-opener.

    Or eye-out-taker.

  • @TheHiddenPart

Safety was definitely meant to be an undertone in this effort. Kids might say, ok, I won't shoot a pellet gun at someone's head, but perhaps their stomach, back, leg, etc. Using one of these high-powered air rifles at 20 yards, you can still put the hurt on someone. The 20 yard pellet punched through 3" of gel and didn't look back. When you factor in Raptor pellets, it raises the stakes even more. The rule still stands, don't shoot people with pellet guns.

  • Yesss, some England relevant stuff. Cheers tnotdoors. Though i still watch every one of your ballistics tests/shooting vids/Hicock45 collaboratiions. Cheers man, and happy shooting.

  • Cool Test!!
