Travers should have made It very big back in around 1979...1980 ....that was my favorite line up.. They were probably the first funk-o-metal/rock band before Extreme came along about 10 yrs later. The Pat Travers band had attitude In such a killer way....I really wish they made it big like Ozzie or Zep.. etc...
This is the reason I didnt give up and kept pluggin away at the guitar. I found Puttin it Straight at a record store in the cutout bin. I learned this note for note and kept on keepin on till I had my own bar band.
Ya know one thing about Travers is it obvious he's a great guitarist but I think he is one hell of a singer as well. I had the privilege of doing light and monitors for him a few years back. He was so good... and very gracious.
Saw them a few years ago in nc, glad he s using marshall at the time he was using boogie and this sound is much better. The band are a great group of players, and what can u say PT is a legend. AWESOME!!!
Pat Travers line up in this video is the same as seen here ( his current line up ) : PT (guitars / vocals / keyboards), Kirk McKim (guitars / vocals), Sean Shannon (drums), and Rodney O'Quinn (bass).
Uhhhh that's not Tommy Aldridge on the drums. I like the cut but that's not Tommy. I've been a big Tommy Aldridge fan since the mid '70's. That drummer was probably born in the mid '70's!! (^:
Hahah, I'd better give BOTH of my nuts to see the legendary band from -79 reunited again. Aldridge, Thrall and Cowling was amazing. That wás fucking rock'n'roll!
Pat started out so young and has aged so well that he hasn't changed much appearance wise in 30 + years...And his playing and singing still rock ! I agree with another review: bring back Cowling, Aldridge and Thrall !!
I'd give my left nut to see Travers reunite with Mars Cowling, Pat Thrall, and Tommy Aldridge. I saw them several times headline their own shows as well as openers for RUSH............they were absolutely scary..........legendary.........monsterous.....as any adjective you'd like to use. EXTREME musicianship...
the first i heard of pat travers was at the santa monica civic when he opened up for detective when right and bought his album anyone else go that night
Just saw PT and crew last night - a small gig short set at a local casino and they put on a great show - they were all spot on - great guitar playing and Pat's voice was probably the best I've heard for a while - he had a low growl in his voice that sounded great! Kirk and Pat really work well together - PT played some great slide. In my book Pat certainly would be one of the top 5 blues/rock gutarists of all time!
That is Kirk Mc Kim on the second guitar. He shreads and is a big part of PT's latest sound. I was side stage for this gig as Pat and Kirk's guitar tech. People who love great musician's and music don't judge one by how they look you clueless bitch. Kirk is a cool dude and a friend of mine and he is not out of shape; especially with his guitar playing; besides, Adam Corolla is funny as hell!
Gotta love that funky riff.....I use 3 1980 model 60 watt combo amps running through 4x10s...i think the old crates(when they actually looked like wooden box) sound awesome...Pat rox...
I happen to like the Mesa Boogie. But for his style of play marshall is better. That Ampeg stack was sweet too. I use crate combos at the house. Works well since I don`t get paid to play. Sold my boogie for a minivan.
I remember back in the day when some top flight guitarists would have a wall of Marshall stacks and in the back sitting on a small chair was a Mesa Boogie with a mic stuck in front of it!
Great Point! I am sure thats the case here? NOT! when it comes to amps everyone likes a different flavors just like guitars.I asked Pat about his amp after a show about a year or so ago at the time which happen to be a boogie. Pat is one of those that can play througha piece of crap amp and still sound great, lots of his sound is from his hands.
I didn't say that was the case here! Only responded to your obviously biased opinion of the Mesa Boogie! Back in the day they were all the rage(25-30 yrs. ago)! Don't know what is now being as I'm a drummer but something that was a rage doesn't suddenly turn into crap! I totally agree with your assessment of PT though! My band opened up for his several times and you couldn't meet a nicer guy!
