  • hi there !

great video, very good playing and nice demonstration of the sound.

one quesion: so this is the select series i think, which wood cabinet is this? walnut?

    Cerutti

  • @CeruttiTroutman Thank you. Yes, it is a select series with walnut cabinet :-)

  • @harrymerchant456 seriously dude, first you say what he plays is "piss easy" then you say it's self indulgent? Why can't it be just a very lucky dude playing around with the equipment of my dreams? I appreciate that he uploaded this video, it is a demonstration of some of the finest equipment available. Stop hating please.I know you say you didn't mean anything personal, still calling a video self indulgent is a personally offending comment to make.

  • Is this the performer edition?

  • I would love to do some music with you man. You are the keyboardist I need!

  • event monitors :)

  • FUCKING GREAT *.*

  • Muito bom esse video,da pra conhecer bem os sons do MOOG....Bless ,Im Brazilian

  • Nice sounds! Thanks for sharing bro.

  • the best sounds you can get. great for basslines in alot of genres. even the producer for alanis morrisette used a minimoog on her albums. I used one of my recordings.

  • Whats the riff form 4:33 ? :D I like that very much! And from 8:40 ?

Or this is an impro? :D

  • Having had synths for years and seen (heard) technology re-invent itself, I have to say that from the demo here, I can get same sounds from my mid 80's Roland Alpha Juno, ok no nice backlit knobs or teak case or sexy Moog badge, but still....

  • everyone was so obsessed with the future in the 70's.... hence the synth. awesome moog man.

  • You know you don't have it loud enough when you can hear your finger whacking the keys! Nice vid tho.

I just picked up an Electric Blue from Ammons in NYC- still under warranty used twice for $800 off list.

Hope it doesn't have the osc issues yours had- that sound awful.

  • You sir, have got the funk.

  • very good video, best so far of the voyager! thank you

  • hey you have one of those old tape delay things.

  • @paperpichu Yeah, and it's for sale.

  • @kaufmann6988 Still up for sale? If so, can you message me with a price and condition? Cheers! And great video btw!!

  • 4:18 - 4:21 Amazing!

  • pay 12 000 PLN for few sounds...

  • when was that made? did you build in those blue light?

  • Is it strictly monophone still? Or can you get pad sounds and stuff? And whats the black square in the middle? So many questions...

  • @HowNotToRap

The black square is little bit like Kaoss Pad (from korg).

I'm not sure what it controls, but i assume it controls the filters, and the more space fill when you touch it, the more it does.

  • not so hard on those keys haha heavy hands

  • I like your demo!!

  • ahah nice sound!!

    Flo*****

  • Nice demo! Ty...

  • Great playing but the 1976 vid stomps the voyager... Its the mush. The new minis have more mush (and I dont mean FX). I admit I have a 1974... And side by side its just so much tighter than the new ones its ridiculous... But the new ones sound great if you dont want tight lows.

  • o my you are a great keyboard player and this moog sounds amazing!!!!

  • Wtf did you put the nord like that for? :(

  • excellent playing and demo, have you had any issues with the unit so far? I'm thinking if getting one..

  • Well... actually I have had problems all the way due to unstable oscillators. I have it serviced for the third time now. But the friends that I have who own one too have no problems at all. I hate problems and I wish that Moog had told me to send it in and that they would make it work once and for all. Argh !!!

  • @kaufmann6988

in what way did the unstable osc's demonstrate themselves? slow desynch? or a kind of random way-off all of a sudden or something else?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @davefrom2001 The instabillity was not random, but stillenot the same every time. It was REALLY bad and annoying. The problem has been fixed now, but MOOG did not manage to have it fixed for me in the warrenty period (even thougt I had it for repair at the official MOOG tech shop WITHIN the warrenty period). The problem kept on returning. Now finally ALL trimmers on the oscillator board have been replaced (at MY cost) an now it seems to be 100% stable (after 3 years in hell) ARGH !

  • @kaufmann6988

how did you learn to play like that? serious question(also a complement) because i really want to learn to play like that

  • @kaufmann6988 how did you backlight that?

  • hey kuafmann can i buy that nord from you?

  • hey kaufman can i but that nord from u

  • You play well, good video.

  • i WANT THAT

  • Ich auch haben will !!!

    Me too !!!

  • I love minivoyager. super!!!!!

  • 4:33-onwards: FUUUUUNKY, man! I LOVE IT!

  • wow!...minimoog voyager...a jewel!!

    5*

  • what kind of music do you create?

    I want one.

  • Il MIni old è un'altra cosa

  • Wonderful

  • super un regal :D

  • this is almost like my setup! only i use yamaha cs10 instead of voyager :(

  • nn era riferito allo strumento..ma a chi lo suona..e ripeto,fa ridere il culo..!!!

  • wonderful!!!!

  • Suona da far ridere il culo...!!!!!!

  • non offendere il moog!!!

  • 7:40 - i could feel that bass in my feet!!!!

  • Very phat sounds... I like synths that sound phat, and it's doesn't get much phatter than Moog synthesizers.

I really want Litte Phatty... has all the essential stuff that I want from moog, + some stuff that even Mini doesn't have.

  • dang, hammer fingers! Go easy on them keys, that's vintage gear there! You might have to sell that one day & I might be the buyer!

    hehe j/k bro.

Great stuff ya gots there....you play great & it sounds fantastic. 2:49 ...that's too cool. Hey what's the space echo used for? Chorus? Reverb? Warmth? Cause I don't hear echo...and how do you go from space echo into pc? (interface?) Thanx

  • the voyager isn't vintage.. it will be in 30 years though :p

  • what synth is that?

  • well..i can't exactly see what it says on the synth its self, but the title says Moog Minimoog

    jeez

  • moog voyager

  • Brill. Funky Clavi playing on a moog, that's some style!

  • NICE playing

  • Those fingers are amazing, How much, how much?

  • INCOMING ELP ATTACK!

    o-o

  • what interface are you using?

  • is this a clavia nord in the corner...man, you must be the happiest person on earth...

  • Moog Little Phatty verse this? The Little Phatty wouldn't stand a chance. ;-)

  • how do you rate the little phatty against this

  • I had a Little Phatty..not even in the same ballpark as the Voyager--half the synth plus some! Spend the extra grand for this beast!

  • I had a blue Voyager when they where first released, I found that lead sounds where difficult to develop, although the basses are obviously instant. After playing with the Phatty (admittedly not for long) the range of leads looked greater (although thinner)

Ive now rebought an Andromeda (sold my first one when I got rid of everything before) but need to address my Moogless predictament!

  • The Andromeda sounds awesome..I love Moog, but I could never get a sound I really liked consistently--I've had 3--Rogue,Original Mini-Moog and Little Phatty..too bad the Voyager didn't work out..I would think for the extra money you would get alot more to fulfill your needs..again>analog vs digital war!

  • had?

i saw a little phatty in beaumont texas guitar center

it was about $300 out of my range, so after playing some affordable (for me) synths, i just went to town on that thing

    i loved playing that thing

it was like....something so good, it has messed up my ability to make up clever similes.

it sounded like an orgasm, if that comes close to how great it was.

  • Don't get me wrong,Moog is great...if I were a richer man,I'd have a big collection of them. But I needed the money and they had to go for something a little more affordable!(newer analog modeling-korg,roland,novation.

  • you needed money so you sold your moog?

    :[

    that's a heartbreaking story

    lol

if it came to worst, i'd do bitch work for neighbors before i sold my guitar or anything like that

but yeah, that sucks man :[

i'm gonna be getting a Roland Juno Di soon

go look it up and tell me what you think

  • That Di is SWEET,man! That is really nice!Wow! I might sell some stuff on ebay and buy one myself! Yeah, the Moog sit was sad,but someday I might get a Voyager and keep it till I die..those are the Holy Grail of analog heaven for me!

  • haha

yeah, the Di will be my first synth

but i've been looking up synth videos on youtube forever and my only way to KINDA play, is in FL studio :P

    haha

but yeah man, the voyagers look like nothing else, and you KNOW those like in the video would look badASS live, in a dark room. lol

  • Well enjoy that Di,man! I have a Roland Sh 201 and really like it-alotta bang for your buck..you will not be disappointed by it (for sure!) -I live for my electronic muzik!

  • i was actually looking into the SH-201 for the longest time

but i decided i wanted something with acoustic piano sounds :P

but the sh-201 is crazy cool

one of my friends has one

  • For the extra hundred bucks, your Di will definitely be worth it.. my 201 does the job but,.that acoustic piano sound on the Di and the mike thru the sound is awesome..makes me want one to add to my arsenal-;) Roland is greatly under rated! You'll LOVE IT!!

  • wow. what a sick instrument. Loved this vid from 7:40 on.. b4 tho I was gettin just a BIT tired of the C and sometimes F blues scale. It was nice to hear some synth jammin later on in the vid. Wish it didn't have to end! If i ever have cash to blow on stuff i don't need, Voyager is high on the list

  • Sounds like the bushings are dead already. You really hit the keys hard man!!

  • They are fine... I play normally like a piano player does. Treating it like a tool and not like a toy ;-)

  • Minimoog Voyager is an incredible synth, and these sounds too

  • Good video, made better by the Nord Stage in the background.

  • Gotta admit, they look badass!

  • Very nice playing but i'm really bored with this kind of Moog demos..you don't show the real synthesis power of the instrument..most of the patches you and many other Moog keyboardists use, are really simple and old and mainly demonstrate your playing style and not the power of Moog. I agree that its a performance instrument, but it has a lot more abilities!

  • I'll havta agree with you,I wanted alil more from such a badass synth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree... I do more impressive patches with my Microkorg

  • Yeah, but it takes about 5 hours of menu diving and a 2 digit LED display to even create your own patch on a MicroKorg. Not to mention wonderfully tinny digital VCOs.

  • that will be a DCO then ;?)

  • that would be not even a DCO, that would be a peice of code in a DSP enclosure.

  • I see what you're saying, but I like seeing people use it as a performance tool, rather than using it for techo/ambient/noise type stuff. For instance, Nate Wilson from Assembly of Dust plays a MicroMoog, and he gets some amazing tones out of it, with only one oscillator. Not only that, but he uses it as an INSTRUMENT, not just to display the crazy sounds these great synths can make.

  • @Pacman1ac I AGREE!! Very skilled keyboardist, but this seems to be the majority of demos on youtube...guys who spend more time showing you there keyboards wizardry, and noodle abilities on a typical patch, rather than spending more time on the vast sound capabilities of this instrument.

    Again, very skilled keyboarding though

  • @Pacman1ac He's playing music. this isn't a technical demo.

  • @Pacman1ac: well then, go buy one and you can make your own demos.

  • fatnastic clasic blende yee Roby Moog !!!

  • CRAZY MAN

  • do you no any daft punk songs? i always wanted to one played on one of those

  • LOL what do you think daft punk uses?

  • i know they use 4 voyagers live.

  • Well they use 4 Voyager Rack's live

  • 'sall good

  • do you mean the headphone out is going back into the synth or your audio input on your pc?

  • Headphone from synth back to synth audio-in

  • does this create the filter feedback?

  • yes

  • I can't wait to get one of these !

    Great playin too !

  • where can I get one of these things? and for how much?

  • i like your studio man you got lots of money :P

  • Lot's of money ? No, but I have had the right priorities for the money I once had *LOL*. Quit smokin, quit drinking, quit whatever shit you are on and get yourself some nice gear that will last the rest of your life.

  • Also, buy used gear where possible and get some gigs that will pay for it.

You will be amazed at what you can put together for a tenth of what your friends are paying...

  • people with lots of money never admit it.

  • That's the moog synth me partner just bought new.......exceptionally pleased with it. :-)

  • go from 4 poles to 2 poles, kaufmann u weenie why would u wan't to?. however overall not bad,u did represent the "Voyager" it's Not a "Model D" but it'll have to do. it's certainly,a lot prettier than the model D,with all that blue,"T and A".guess i'll have to buy,one now,and put her to the test.

  • I have had a vintage Minimoog too and I also have a ARP Odyssey. I tell you... the Voyager is a better synth, that's a fact. Vintage is nostalgic, yeah yeah... but that's it. The 2-pole filer setting gives you a more aggressive lead sound. Nice feature... you can choose between 1, 2, 3 or 4 poles. One of the most interesting features about the Voyager is called "Pot mapping"... I haven't even touched that subject, hehe. Everyone: Go buy a Minimoog Voyager ! :-)

  • i've had my voyager 5 or 6 years and i've been able to nail the stevie wonder/gary wright bassline but can't get the real creamy leads. like rick wakeman's "white rock" album caravan's "better by far" album or the phillip saisse song "fusionesque" the voyager has a certain grittiness that makes it impossible. all of the synth legends would agree with me unless you can prove us all wrong.

  • You're not using enough external hardware then. What newcomers to either the original Minimoog and the new Voyager don't know is that the Minimoog itself has recognizable sounds. But it was also processed through many types of effects boxes over the years. Unfortunately, to get those sounds means adding some more expensive hardware to your studio and even then you won't be using the original effects boxes like keyboardists did on those original tracks.

  • i doono if im talking some S*@&# but i found the sound the the old moog a lot warm, does it have difference in the hardware?

  • at 4:40, i couldn't help it. the groove was so good i started beatboxing.

  • man I love posts like this.. haha thats awesome

  • your poor nord stage looks jealous back there!

  • Have an Access TI.....it's getting a little jealous to. lol

  • The response video just made me realize why there's still nothing like an old 30+ years old minimoog, for mono !

The Voyager just doesn't sound even close. The Phatty, on the other hand, is a bargain for the price !

  • lit up wheels has to be the coolest thing ever...

    I so want one now.

  • This so reminds me of Pink Floyd.

  • Verry good skills on a superb synth!!!

How did you set the modulation for the touch sensitivity? Real nice!!!!

  • Excellent video - good information for potential buyers of this incredible machine.

  • I just got a green flag to get a Voyager from my to-be wife after she saw this video. Thank you! :)

  • WOW! I never realized that my video has that effect on women... or is it a strategic move to get something veeeery expensive that she want's? Anyway: Moog rules !

  • you lucky man.

  • the minimoog voyager sounds fat for sure, but somehow the older (which I own) sounds sweeter, not that harsh to my ears.

  • gr8 !!!

    Worths every penny!

    Gotta love it!

  • Woow then you need a lot of pennies!

  • Awesome !

  • sounds great...getting your George Duke on around 4:15 and on...keeping it funky!

  • I have Two minimoog and one modular.

You see me on you toube but only with a Ps 3200 and Steinway D.

    Gaetano Di Giorgio

    -

Send me your e- mail for pictures of my instruments.

  • Matbe your instrument in the future change the sound in nice with the alteration of components by your quantic influence.

One thing: you have a Mini mod D or Moog modular?

    I, yes.

  • I have had a model D, but I sold it because it was too unstable for live performances. No fun at all. I also have a ARP Odyssey which has a very nice sound, but is not very user friendly. Have you made some videos with your model D ?

  • Bad sound-the old minimoog is another planet

  • Sure, the Voyager is not a vintage Moog, but it is absolutely fantastic, if you know how to handle them. I actually prefer the Voyager to the vintage Minimoog. There is too much nostalgic blabla going on about the vintage stuff (and I am pretty nostalgic myself;-)

  • If i got the voyager rackmount, could i run my guitar and drum machine through it?

  • Yes, they can run through the filter...

  • 4:39 is my favorite part

  • 0:35-0:38 is my favorite part :]

  • i've got a voyager myself...awesome! like that space echo you got rockin in the backround. dope vid

  • Love the sound of the moogs Deep purple like riff also like B3s Thanks for sharing your video.

  • The old minimoog is another thing.

  • I'm really digging the groove at 4:35! Really soulful!

  • Cool tool! I live about 1 hr away from where Robert Moog "retired" in Asheville, NC. A beautiful, artsy city tucked into the Blue Ridge Mts. Has a great progressive music scene that fully embraced his creative genius.

  • Awesome man!

  • 2.15 Niiiice sound! :) Sounds like something by Bobby Sparks

  • You are an aweseome player mate. But to be honest i am very tired seeing every decent synth player on youtube just tap their fingers vigarously through the octaves available. Im a very that this functions as a good sound test, but could you play something more...i dunno...pumping?:) Well done though!

  • great!

But the small stone and the ring modulator take away a lot of especially the high end (unless they are modified) even when they're of...

The sound might be stronger if yoy'd take them out of the signal chain, I guess.

    allzebezt!

  • I want one of these so bad...but $3000 is a lot of dough. :(

  • no, it's not.

  • HAHA, you parallel processed the audio track for the video! Now that's clever :D

  • The bass on the 1976 is just awesome.

  • Awesome video, I just sat here entranced for 10 minutes. I'm desperately saving for the rackmount edition...

  • sweet tweak changing the filter to two poles!

I do that on my Little Phatty all the time, it's great for more cutting lead sounds as you say

    enjoyed watching the video

  • ahhh..wunderbar

  • this whole video is a riffy little jam in F

  • Your Voyager sounds great!. I loved the arpeggio part at 5:50.

  • Fingers for sale on ebay! LOL! Ive read it all now!ROTFLMAO!!

Nice playing btw. I'd love a voyager but they are bloody expensive arent they?

  • Then check out the new Voyager Old School...

  • hi, nice moog, which are those studio monitors you have?

  • NINTENDO 8-bit Music can be made with these lovely machines! Among many other sounds! :)) I'm in love!

  • Did you submit this video to Moog? After seeing this, I am now amazed at the capabilities of the new Voyager. Really, this is the first video that i have seen that demonstrated all that you did. Good Job!

  • Holy crap!!!!! Very cool jamming. Edger Winter should have given this dude a phone call. Frankenstien anyone?

  • Wow! look at those fingers fly! Gotta get me one of those things!

  • Gonna get you some of those fingers ???

You don't need a Moog for finger practice *LOL*

  • LOL I don't want to buy your fingers.

  • But, should i be interested, where can i buy those fingers, actually ? E-bay ? ;)

  • hahahaha xD

  • I'd expect nothing less from one of these little beauties.
