  • I was given the opportunity to do this, no kit, just rugby shirt and trousers, it was dry so the sheep dip was not too muddy... I was still sick everywhere at the end of it. fucking hard

    I mean. I can't imagine the tunnels will take that long, but think of how knackered you will be for the 4 mile run..

  • Just passed my PRMC. That run was hard and I didn't even have to do it with gear and a time limit. If you're attending a PRMC soon just don't stop jogging on this and they can't fail you for it. And when he asks you if you want to give up before the 4 mile run back to camp say no; he's bullshitting

  • During my UOTC's Annual Camp this summer, we were given the opportunity to complete this obstacle course but without the kit, wearing just overalls and boots (and no 4 mile run).

    The obstacles are easy to manage but the running in between, soaked through to the skin, is hard to cope with. Great comic relief at the end however, upon seeing a group of cadets who finished after us covered head to toe in the red mud.

    Maximum respect to all those who have complete the entire Endurance Course.

  • @southernairsofter wouldn't say that. You should really read up on USMC history. the USMC has never retreated in battle and are known to fight to the death. Churchhill him self said how he admired the U.S Marines and he said that back in 1930's before being prime minister. I would really read up on USMC history before making a comment like that.

    also the ROk Marines are very very good. they are considered the little brother of the USMC and are mean fighters.

  • damn, their training is way harder than US marines training. i met several british marines in afghanistan, all of them were impressive people. US marines accepts prettymuch anyone these days... i wish america had something like the royal marines.

  • @halwaymonitor British forces are proffessionlised in order that it could be shrunk. It is why so many of its 'ordinary' units are considered an elite force (RM, Para, RAF) and why the elite branches (SAS, SBS etc) have to be so much better. It isn't bragging, its just how it is. The US on the other hand has different responsibilities, those taken over from us when we had the biggest army. You get the power, you also get the responsibility.

  • @halwaymonitor - The Royal Marines training regime is pretty awesome and they turn out some top soldiers, alot of whom go on to serve in special forces but the US Marines are still a top mob. Their battle honours, especially in the Pacific in WW2 speak for themselves

    they are the oldest marine regiment in the world and seen more wars and battles

  • @yandykun I know everything i'm talking about .The best that America has got is the rangers they shit on the u.s marines.Its 1 or the other for the us marines its either they get shit training or theirs that many of them they dont get to train them all good.Because believe me the average us marine is shit

  • @yandykun The us marines are infantry.if YOU decide to join the us marines as a recruit you will be trained as a normal infantry soldier if you join the royal marines you will be trained as a COMMANDO.All i'm doing is just pointing out the difference between a u.s marine and royal marine

  • @yandykun No you don't as a recruit in the usmc you get 13 weeks basic training in the royal marines a new recruit gets 32 weeks commando training

  • @1stLordtheAdmiralty 13 WEEKS is just the first phase u gain the title after bootcamp but that is just the begining of becoming a marine after bootcamp u have to go to SOI it can be from 3 months to 6 months it depends

  • @yandykun Bootcamp is your recruitment training to be a marine we have 32 weeks commando training to become a marine then when you pass you go onto more training as you would in the usmc or any other fighting force but your basic training in the usmc is 13 weeks

  • Lol thx! I've done one of the courses for the army before and found it pretty easy. I just don't like the idea of a water tunnel. I can climb ropes, climb trees, swing on ropes, the lot. And I find it pretty fun!

  • Tunni56, as regards to the all arms commando course, is it open to all capbadges or just a select few? i keep on getting mixed responses from others but have not actually asked someone who has been through it

  • Infantry regiments and Certain parts of the Navy can do the all arms commando course. Royal Marines do the commando course as part of their training.

  • it is open to all cap badges, as long as your parent unit will allow you to take part.. alot of units dont feel that they benefit from sending individual soldiers though, and therefore dont send them. The course mainly consists of artillery (29 commando regiment) and engineers (59 Commando Squadron, 24 engineer regiment) and REME, but on my course we had an RMP lad (who went on to pass) and a lad from the Army Air Corps ( who later was RTU'd).

Don't blab off about what you might be able to do..because I've heard ducks fart in long grass before. Most fail! Most can't hack it! Most go crying back to mummy! I served for 12 yrs in UK elite and special forces and was on the training team for the all arms commando course.

  • They are based on the Royal Marines. If you look back to the American Revolution, the entire colonial military was based on that of the British, obviously they would be because of they were after all, colonies of Britain. Around this time the USMC was formed, based on that of the Royal Marines formed over 100 years before. The colonial regular military of the time was almost a carbon copy of the Brits, right down to the uniforms(except for the colour of course).

  • i just did this (im only 15) cant imagin having to do it with the 32 pound webbing and wepeon and they dont mention that you have a half mile run through the camp the you have to hit 6/10 targets on the shooting range all in 72 MINITS!! he endurance course it self is 2 miles long one of the hardst things ive ever done (oh and the dont show you the bt wre you havet to run down hills and cover your self in mud ) :)

  • I did the Endurance course with some Royal marine Commandos. It was very enjoyable. If any of you want to join the Marines, i suggest the 'Look at Royal Marine life' course :) I enjoyed it a lot :)

  • The water tunnel is about 1.5 meters to 2 Meters long id say - its piss easy going through, actually its quite nice when you go under cos everything goes silent and you just relex and let yer buddies push and pull you through

  • They've changed the water tunnels so there not as long + the 1's were u crawl under are only 4inchs deep or watever.

  • No its got to be completed within 72 minutes or an hour and twelve minutes.Other way around, and this selection goes back to ww2,when some army commando unit smerged with the Royal Marines.This was the corps that landed at Norway and at Dieppe and fought outstandingly then and still to now.

  • The PRMC is not done in full kit. You don't get issued webbing and bergen for a 4 day course.

  • had some good laughs on this when i wasnt hanging out, some knobber through a pen in a bush so we had to drag him up a hill with us by his legs, the sheep dip is about 4ft long, all the tunnels and crap on the endurance course are there to test your mettle, not so much to tire you out, just glad the SLR is gone, all i ever get from my dad is how much of a bastard it was to get through the smarties tube when your 6ft 2" trying to fit an SLR in with it in your sleeve to keep the mud out.
