but in actually, Foshan has no one know about wing chun after the Cultural Revolution in China. and now the wing chun technique of Foshan ppl is teaching by the master in Hong Kong
In Wing Chun do you attempt to protect and control the center line or do you plan to stay on either side of the centerline with the hopes that your apponent stays outside of your guard?
I have drilled where you don't leave such a huge hole in the center while doing Chi Sao. Wrists occupy the centerline alternating from top to bottom while your energy is always going forward.
It is a great way to show respect to Yip man and Fat shan. The Wing Chun is very different from what I know. But then again, the Wing Chun lineages have more in common than they have differences. I would like to visit the place.
Totally agree with you. We should all concentrate on the similarities more than differences. There we will find that the differences are only personal...
Hi Yum Yeung, Yes, it somewhat resembled the knives of Chan yiu min's students though too! I was'nt Complaining mind you I love to see it all, I was just pointing out it wasn't Ip Man Lineage. Perhaps if you have footage of some of the students who went west that came back for the event? I think Chris Chan was there? Maybe Ken Cheung or anyone else who did a demo?
We have clips of Kwok, McKenzie, Van Thomas and a few other guys from the UK, all flaunting their skills on that stage! If anyone wants this all on a DVD, just let us know. We will upload another clip from this ceremony soon...
I wish there would have been more footage of Ip Man lineage practitioners. While I enjoyed the Demo by Sifu Mak (of the Cheung Bo Lineage) Sifu Mak never learned a knife form from Cheung Bo so I don't know where they came up with that one. Anyway, it was enjoyable but if it is IP MAN TONG footage I'd like to see more Ip Man family done. Thanks for sharing!
We have seen similar knife forms in Hung Kuen. Interesting comment though! Maybe we can offer another clip of some of the western performers of the day. Who do you have in mind?
by looking at the first form, that doesnt look like it was developed by ip man. My master is my uncle and he was trained by samuel kwok and his master is ip chun.
Haven't you ever heard of the possiblilty that there is a 'Wing Chun' heritage out there, somewhere, that didn't go through Ip Mans hands? Foshan Wing Chun is just that, similar to the Gulao method. MANY things were not 'developed' by Ip Man, this doesn't make them wrong, just 'un-refined'.
Many versions of Wing chun exist today, and one of the reasons for uploading this clip was because of what we saw in Foshan. What do you think? On reflection, none of the hand forms look like Ip Mans either...

No hopes. Wing Chun is 'drilled' into the mind and body. Where you go is where you go. What have you 'drilled'?

It's great to share and see this sort of exchange between people. Wing Chun must change every spring. Why stay the same during a life-long study?

Forgot to mention, Mr Kwok is our gong fu uncle and we respect him greatly, he knows us. Please ask him about Lee Shing and Ip Chun.

This IS Wing Chun/Ving Tsun/Yong Chun!! Whatever you call it, the style has a deep history in the area of Foshan City (Fatshan).
