I would just like to say that not all members of SJA are muppets. I pride myself on being good at what I do. We do have some idiots....but also many highly qualified individuals. I myself am an EMT. we do have paramedics and nurses as well as doctors all state registered.
@pyro999maniac an 'EMT' another made up title that is meaningless in the real world, why do these people try to be something they are not. The majority of ST John I have met are muppets/ idiots and the few that are professional soon realise this and leave! I have never understood why Dr's, Nurses or paramedics would join ST John given that St John doesn't let them practice their skills by using drugs, BM machines etc! All a bit odd if you ask me- keep dreaming!
@sharkybadboy747 St John ambulance does let you use drugs if you are qualified. Just as in the civvie ambulance service they must be secured in a drugs safe in the vehicles on duty but if you are qualified and state registration is current then you may use them. As for EMT, i know it is not a protected title but i have qualified to use it and am certified as one. I'll agree that a lot of st john people are muppets. I don't leave because i enjoy helping people. I'm not a muppet
@pyro999maniac do they use the full range of drugs i.e Morphine, Adrenaline, Glucose etc? My understanding is that HCP's are very restricted in thier practice and don't use much more than paracetamol and hypostop. EMT is a made up title, what does it really mean? Where else is it used? Have you considered an NHS career if you like helping people? Do you really stand proud in your uniform on duty or do you cringe at the muppets stood next to you?
@sharkybadboy747 If they have it with them then they may use morphine etc. the EMT title is endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Yes i currently have an application in for the NHS Great Western Ambulance Service and tbh it's a mix....sometimes i think "how did this person pass their assesment?" but when i'm with my regular colleague i am proud. he is like me.....proud of it and enjoying it and we do everything with the best interests of our patient at heart.
@pyro999maniac I see so they have to supply and bring there own, St John doesn't support them by supplying such items, where is the governance arrangements for that? I am not aware of the RCS (Ed) endorsing EMT titles, does St John or is it a title you have choosen (very american). Goodluck with your application for GWAS, that won't be as an EMT though will it as it isn't NHS recognised (they are nearly as good as St John). I am glad you are passinate about your work.
@sharkybadboy747 Yes they must bring their own drugs bags. SJA are not licensed to supply or hold it. SJA will allow people to carry the EMT title as long as they can provide certification to prove where they took the course and tests and that they were approved. Thanks for the luck. It will be as an Emergency Care Assistant....which is the new title for Ambulance Technicians.
@pyro999maniac shows that St John don't fully support HCP's then! What EMT course is there that is recognised? I must caution you on saying ECA's are the new Technicians as there are massive differences in terms of training both in terms of course length and skills learnt not to mention pay and conditions, certainly don't tell any technician that you are 'the same as them' you might not like the reaction! PS: Did you look at the Bournemouth video?
@pyro999maniac further to my other comment have a look at this video 'St John Ambulance Dorset Airshow/Baywatch remixed' which is also on Youtube and ask yourself if it makes you proud to be in St John and stand shoulder to shoulder with these people
when the st john ambulance turn up then you really really are in trouble... i once saw that bunch of idiot amateurs drop somebody off the end of a stretcher bump right onto the tarmac and all with a crowd of thousands watching on :-/
@ensayers I totally agree with you a complete bunch of muppetts, you notice hear too how much they love the flashing lights and sirens when the race has actually stopped and how many of them are flapping around the car when the driver actaully "walks away"- why do so many high risk venues use these amateurs- they are not even cheap to have anymore either!
@ap1988 please don't get me started on 'party paramedics' that is really, really bad and to think by association with the title of the show the public think they are paramedcis! The patient diagnosed with compression and then sent home in the first episode- WTF! (FB has a whole page devoted to the topic)
@sharkybadboy747 hahaha learn something.....the people at work in the treatment centres with SJA ARE state registered Paramedics/Nurses and Doctors. not just silly little first aiders.
@pyro999maniac the people at work in the treatment centre on this video or are you talking in general? Most motorsport venues don't have treatment centres with this level of cover. As for learning something I have seen and know many St John Nurses, Dr's and Paramedics and lets just say 'it takes a special person' which often leaves a lot to be desired! Finally I don't recall saying 'silly little first aiders' at any stage, that was your negative post against St John not mine!
@sharkybadboy747 You were talking about them being muppets...which many of them are....practically the same thing as silly little first aiders. I wasn't referring to this incident in particular. i was referring to the programme 'Party Paramedics'. The people working in the treatment centres are state registered healthcare professionals. So am i a special person then for working with SJA? I do my job well and enjoy it. I'll agree there are some muppets in our organisation though.
@ensayers actually we are not all like that. i myself am i fully qualified EMT as are many is SJA. come out on a shift with us then call us amateurs ok?
Yer your positioning is different and it can show some different action that might not be seen from somewhere else around the track, although i wouldnt particularly call it near fatal.
This footage is brilliant as it totally brought this race to life. This video captured a real live event and this comes across in this clip. I will most definitely be subcribing to this channel.
