This guitar is marketed for the consumer, not the musician... the artist. Moreso its for Gibson. If you take these unnecessary components out of the 5200.00 guitar, its an $800 guitar. And watch yourself snapping strings much more often if you're constantly retuning onstage w/1 guitar. Have to restring or grab another guitar anyway. Cool techy and all, but just gimmick. Its for the compulsive buyer, not the musician.

@IbanezNick75 I've a PRS custom 22 and a Gibson LP, I find the PRS way more versatile.You can pick up a PRS Tremonti SE for a mere $520 and it's a great guitar, I played over 300 gigs with a Tremonti until I upgraded to the custom 22. It's all a matter of taste though, PRS and Gibson both make wonderful instuments that are a joy to play.

it's for working guitarists who can justify paying that much for a guitar who'd find the automatic tuning particularly useful. such as if they play gigs, but use multiple tunings in the set, and don't want to be changing guitar every song, or spending a long time re-tuning between songs. it also saves the hassle of transporting one guitar for each tuning they'll be playing in.

This whole tuning my ear crap has become a way for people who don't make it to feel like they're so good at music because they can tune by ear. No one cares. I'm sure you have a cell phone though! Real people walk miles to communicate face to face.

@svtcobra666 I think its a good idea for noisy gigs and such. This gives you the ability to tune in seconds rather than holding up a show while you tune your guitar, and to have one guitar during a show rather than buying two and having a backup one in tune while you play the other one. I think it is important to learn to tune by ear is a very important skill as well.

Most of the time guitars hold their tune, and it takes hardly anytime to check, especially considering most do it through an effects pedal. It seems like a very expensive novelty item. I really can't see this becoming a new standard in all guitars any time soon.

The guitar can be tuned by hand instead of letting it tune itself. You just need to disengage the tuning button first

Funny how the original version of this system was taken off the market because Gibson "forgot" that when you hit the strings hard, it goes sharp. The "robot" doesn't know that. Hahah!!! Fail. I've heard many folks complain about it and it doesn't fix the inherent tuning problems that guitars naturally have, unless you have a temperament enhancing mod like the Buzz Feiton system, True Temperament fretboard or an Earvana nut.
