how long did it take you to stock that many cardinals? that's pretty awesome. they're mostly wild caught i think, and don't have a very good survival rate...about 40% of the ones i've purchased have died off .. but the amazing color makes it worthwhile. nice tank.
@sqbbe that's cool. could you tell me more about the tank parameter pls. size of tank, lighting, substrate, plants, ferts, filtration, etc. i have a 29 g low tech tank and around 23 cardinal tetras in there among other fish, but they don't seem to be as active as yours. i am very curious. thanks again!

80 neons for food of large predatory fish?? your kidding me right? Most large predatory fish wont after such small food. Are you talking 24+ inch big or what? I mean i have plenty of red tail cats, arrowana's, peacock bass, tiger shovel nose, dorado etc. All 80 would barely be a snack for large predatory fish. Hell my red tail ate one of my damn turtles. Funniest damn thing ever, looked like he swallowed a ball.
How much roughly is 1 neon tetra on its own? Because i want to get a school of around 80 because i'm going to have it in with large predatory fish and want them as prey.
No. African cichlids are generally best kept with other African cichlids or fish that are large enough to handle their aggression and won't be seen as food. Their water peramiters are different as well. AC's need hard water, Neons do best in softer water, though tank bread can thrive in moderately hard.
Sweet Ghost Knife, mine is about 2 inches less then yours. I had 7 neon tetras with mine and they were gone in about 2 weeks. Other than that, he is a very peaceful fish. Very nice tank.
Another question on the Vallisneria. Do you have to add something to the water in order for the plants to survive? I know a decent amount about fish but nothing about plants. I once put seeds in my tank and some of them grew a little bit but ended up dead within a few weeks.
thanks, its really nice, do you know if theres much of a difference between the curved glass on some of the visions and the plain faced on the rio's? Iv just ordered a rio and wondered if i was missing out on anything.
i have a five gallon tank all set up and every thing how many neon tetras should i get like 3 or 4 thyere cool oh also are they hard to care for im experinced had fish since i was 4 ive had oscars and goldfish longtest living goldfish i ever had was 8 years he was pretty big he died cause of ammonia in ashrimp i gave him he always ate them those sghrimp you cook
Lol Cardinals are cool but remember there are a lot of them in one tank at the Fish Store. So if there is a disease outbreak it'll spread fast. Make sure you check their colors fins and their whole body before buying them.
Cos the gourami and what i assume are albino tiger barbs have too small mouths and the black ghost knife is blind, they use electrical waves to sense their surroundings, so there is no one able to eat them
Neither gouramis or tiger barbs are true predators. If anything they are fin nippers. More times than not the reason they leave the cardinals alone is because there is a big enough school of barbs, and they focus their attention on their own kind.
hi from Brazil ... nice tank ... the black fish is called here "Ituí cavalo" and he eats small fish ... its amazing that the cardinals are safe and swiming !
He stays inside the vallisneria when he appears to be sleeping and under the root when he`s just relaxing. I would guess he`s out swimming 20% of the day...?
