I feel John's movies are character studies and I think thoughtful, passionate people like/love movies like these but so many people, people who need things spelled out for them, don't understand, like, or appreciate movies like his...I just wish he was still around--what a talent!
cassavetes was a great actor but he was an even better director. if you haven't seen Faces, Husbands or Woman Under the Influence you should definitely check 'em out.
Cassavetes was brilliant and one hell of an actor and Director. Too bad people are too lazy to appreciate his work. Gena Rowlands appeared lost and distant during the interview. Seemed strange to me that being his wife she would not have spoken more about him and showed more interest and emotion. I will get Ben Gazzara's book as I am interested in his depresssion over the loss of his good friend John Cassevetes.
i don't think Gena was or looked lost/distant...i think she was very much there in a profoundly emotional way...i mean this is her life partner, years after his death and she behaves as if he died just yesterday, but she DOES give lots of input...it's SO HONEST in that each word she expresses comes directly from an emotional/fragile partner

I often wonder why TEMPEST (1982) is not mentioned much. I know Mazursky did it but it's such a classis film.

Why is the sound not synched? Disappointing.
